Mythic Mystic
Saturday Leftover Day.
Basil Wolverton collectors will know that the comic master had a series of four page stories in Fawcett's Comic Comic. I should go back and collect all ten of them (a small book's worth) but haven't yet, so here are the two I got.
With that a twopager from one of the issues that I am pretty certain is by Fred Ottenheimer. Otterheimer did a lot of uncredited fillers for various Fawcett titles, bit this one is a bit more substantial.

Hey, Kids! Komics!
Friday Comic Book Day.
Marvel and DC are sitting on a lot of excellent reprint material, which won't even get seen until the copyright are truly free and publishers are not afraid for a harassment suit. For instance, the truw importance of Dan Barry in the late forties and early fifties will never be known until someone is able to publish a collection of all his pre-Flash Gordon work for Timely (Marvel), Gleason, Ziff-Davies and DC. Likewise, Basil Wolverton has a ton of stories out there wich won;t ever be reprinted even though it probably is is public domain. Although some of the titles his work appeared in may have been protected, his solo stories, their titles and character probably aren't - but who wants to go up against the Mghty Marvel? So here are two of them, from Kid's Komics #1, the first (and last) issue to be edited by Stan Lee before he went off to the war and the Vince Fago edited #5.

Fawlty Basil
Not every story in Timely's Powerhouse Pepper series was drawn by Basil Wolverton, but these sure were!

One Page Fun
Saturday Leftover Day.
This week I am selling a couple of Timely teen romance books on ebay. My name there is geapelde. Included in this selection are a couple that have Harvey Kurtzman's Hey Look, as well as one that has a onepager by Basil Wolverton. I had to photograph them for ebay, so I thought I'd share them here as well.

Late Scoop
Friday Comic Book Day.
Still clearing out the files while I am waiting for a new scanner. I wish had more of Wolveron's comic book work, but it is hard to come by. The stuff h did for Timely in the forties is all in very pricey books (maybe because of that) and the series he did for Whiz comics later on is also very rarely seen. I have what seems to be the first one (in pretty poor condition), but would gladly buy a bok reprintng all of them. The sample of Scoop Scuttle is from a stray issue of Daredevil Comics I picked up.
