THE LONE RANGER follows "The Code of the West" (1951)
This adventure comes riding at us from The Lone Ranger #32, dated Feb 1951. It features some action-packed art by the Ranger's longtime comic strip artist, Charles Flanders. There would be four more issues before TLR tossed out his old red shirt and bought a blue one.

THE LONE RANGER and The Hoss Thieves (1939)
This sequence, beginning March 12, 1939, marks the arrival of Charles Flanders to the Sunday strip. Prior to this, Flanders had been working as Alex Raymond's replacement on Secret Agent X-9. His work on X-9 was perfectly adequate, but unexciting, as it involved a lot of sitting and standing around. The Ranger required plenty of action, and Flanders quickly developed a flair for it. He drew the strip for more than thirty years.
Next Saturday: Lone no more?
