Nothing Exciting to Report

I know you've all been waiting on pins and needles for a new blog post and I'm sorry to report although I am blogging, there really isn't much interesting to write about. Here's what we've been doing:

Andrew started preschool and is so happy about it

We have banned TV watching since both my kids like it way too much

We've been going to the park every day

We are living on a tighter than normal budget in an effort to save more money for a down payment

Madeline has had two fat lips in two weeks from falling on her face (poor baby!)

Tom is playing in a basketball league

Andrew and Madeline love to play together. There favorite thing to do is chase and tackle each other.

I have plans to start decluttering and organizing but am suffering from serious lack of motivation. Any ideas on how to up my motivation levels are welcome!!!!

Here are some cute pics from the past week:

Andrew caught a bubble
Madeline catching a bubble

Andrew is my little fireman

Madeline loves to play in the sand

Unexpected Guest

We attended the funeral of Tom's Grandfather, Charles Manley Brown on Friday. Two minutes into the eulogy, we looked up and saw none other than President MONSON walk up and take a place on the stand. Needless to say it was a little hard to pay attention at that point. (For those of you who don't know, Thomas Monson is the leader of the LDS church. Imagine the Pope showing up unexpectedly to a funeral. Yeah, you get the idea). As funerals go, it was really nice -- the spirit was there and we learned a lot about Grandpa from the speakers. Then President Monson got up and told jokes about Tom's great-grandfather, Hugh B Brown, who served with Pres. Monson as an Apostle. Once he was done with that, he told stories about the other members of the Twelve who served around that time. Then he shared his testimony, which was powerful. I don't think anyone who attended would have left unaffected. What an incredible experience for all of us!

I hope it was appropriate to take the Prophet's picture after the services.

Confessions of My Two Boys

Case of the missing ponytail holders:

I've been silently wondering what has happened to all my ponytail holders. They've gone missing a lot faster than usual lately. Today I solved the mystery. Here's what happened:

Today as I was putting my hair in a ponytail in preparation for going to the gym, Andrew picked up a ponytail holder next to me and said, "Mommy, did you know that whenever I find one of these I put it in a jar and hide it in my room?" I laughed thinking he was joking, but as I followed him to his room, this is what he showed me hidden in his bottom drawer:

I thought it was hilarious, so I called Tom to tell him about it. I prefaced the story by telling him I've noticed my ponytail holders keep disappearing and Tom immediately confessed to me that every time he finds one on the floor he throws it away.

Apparently, both my boys love to take them. Is it a hint that they want me to always wear my hair down? (o:
