MJ & BJ - CROTCHETY CHRISTMAS 3D

MJ & BJ was a morning show on 93.3WFLZ ,in Tampa. Mostly consisting of hilarious crank calls to various businesses ,(MJ in the guise of 82 year old ,Milton Fludgecow ,the crotchety old man) ,and harrasment of a guy known as ,The Lawsuit Man. There are also a few dumb music parodies ,and Froggy and Fester getting shocked with a cattle prod. There is a quiz with their air-headed receptionist ,Rhonda. I checked some info on this tape , online ,and found copies selling for up to $36 a pop! Must be rare or limited or sumpin'. It's funny ,and you will get a few chuckles.Not just for xmas ,this is year-round hilarity! From 1998.

WINTER GARDEN - Summer's End

This was mastered at Morrisound Studios in Tampa ,by Jim Morris ,once the #1 studio and producer of Death Metal ,across the globe. It was recorded in Hudson , the next town south of me ,and I believe this band once(still?) lives there. If you enjoy the melancholy strains of Amy Lee fronting Evanescence ,or maybe Tori Amos ,you will like this. Alt-rock ,goth stylings ,and a Dali painting in the insert. Upon further investigation ,I found the singer of this duo (husband/wife or brother/sister?) had released a new album ,which appears from the cover art to be around the same perimeter as Sheryl Crow ,and her ilk. And I found some stuff which points to the fact that these folks are christian musicians. Maybe this is slightly before that period of their lives ,in 1997. Not bad for what it is.

THE THRUSTERS - Another Roadside Attraction

Based in Orlando ,this disc was recorded in Tampa in 2002.Covers of ,"Route 66" ,"Little Bit Of Soul" and "These Boots Were Made For Walking" as well as swell original compositions ,and a female vocalist at the helm. The real brains behind this band though ,is guitarist James Humann( http://www.myspace.com/theethrusters ) ,but it appears the group is now dissolved. Just good ol' rock 'n' roll/rockabilly/punk.

DEVOLUTION -Self Made Monster

This cd has nothing to do with DEVO,I think they used the word Devolution,long before this clown.Picked this up a while back,in a Tampa area dump,near USF campus.Some local Tampa freak,who is aiming for a junior league White Zombie/Marilyn Manson,type of sound. Mykill Mayhem,is the name of the nut,who wrote and played everything except bass.Recommended for those who enjoy the artists mentioned above.

From issue # 16 ,2004 ,of Explicitly Intense Magazine.Formerly located in Pasadena ,CA,the staff made the move to the former Death Metal capitol of the world,Tampa.Publisher/Editor In Chief,Sarjoo Devani,also employs some of his family members,and a stable of free-lance journalists,and photographers. Sarjoo is a dedicated metalhead,open to all forms of metal.As a result ,his music compilations,are somewhat lopsided,if you will.There's always good stuff on his comps,but he sometimes sticks a stink bomb in there,as if to clear out and seperate,the trve from the false.Good guy,I've got many more of his comps.,if anyone is interested.Let me know by commenting below,if you want more from EXPLICITLY INTENSE!!!

hey this is fromm a.d.d records and magazines out of tampa,florida.half the bands featured are from the F L A. the tracks on the back listing don't match up to the songs but it's mostly right.just real good punk,emo,rockin stuff,with the likes of:at the drive-in,pantho u.k.united 13,the thumbs(played with sexboy!),dillinger four,the bar feeders,discount,and more!from 1998,came with the zine.a decent listen.

two great black metal bands ,from florida.first up,yboratit,straight on the heels of the gasparilla festivities,and hailing from ybor city,tampa.lord gasparilla on vocals,scralph the pirate on guitars,and xipper xapper on drums,with a low-fi black metal assault,no-one like them in the tardcore bm world!next from greece,by way of tarpon springs sponge docks,it's christo christophoulas,a/k/a,count jerkula.taking a doomy keyboard sound,and making it his own,his ramblings about the state of things,will make you bust a gut!fine,fine,lo-fi tardcore black metal bands,both!more to come?let's hope so!

NULL AND VOID-hell to pay

hard rock/metal with a ft.myers/tampa axis,reminds me of a combo of black sabbath,hawkwind,and voivod.don't ask me why i hear that,i just do,you may hear something totally different.recorded at apple studios in tampa,this is a whirlwind production with cool samples interspersed.seen them live once and they could'nt match the sound on this release.they were heavier and these songs were nearly unrecognizable.if you like rock and metal,this should be fun for you!

This I found in Salvation Army on Nebraska Ave,Tampa,FL. A comp of mostly Florida metal bands,some from Georgia and more.Ulcer and Huge Peter are here representin' the FTM,(Ft.Myers),and there are Bay area bands,Orlando and more.Some Mentors-like tunes,some punk/metal,hardcore,mostly metal tho'.If you like metal ,you are there.

DRY SPELL-under the blackened skies of war
