Gretchen

Gretchen spends most of her day in her kitty cube on the bed in her room instead of constantly hiding under the bed. She is still learning what it is to be a spoiled kitty. She is making good, but slow progress. Sometimes she will play paws with the other kitties under the door. She still loves rubs and pets :)

Giveaway Winners!

Thanks to everyone for the Anniversary and Blogoversary wishes and for entering our giveaways! Random.org has chosen 2 winners! The winners of the CSN promo code are.....THE MONKEYS! And the winner of the print is.....ERIC AND FLYNN! CONGRATULATIONS!! We'll be contacting you shortly :)
Sweetie was supposed to be adopted on Saturday, but she ended up coming back home with us. The home and potential adopter were wonderful! Sweetie took to the new home immediately and loved exploring. However, the meet and greet with the dog was an epic fail! For Sweetie's own safety, we decided it was not the right home for her. I am waiting to hear back from Persian Rescue about what to do next.

GIVE LITTER!

You may have heard of the GiveLitter™ program as it has already helped raise over 5,000 pounds of cat litter to three Washington, DC based organizations. Now GiveLitter™ is focusing on helping three amazing groups in the Los Angeles area!
Although the organizations currently participating are based in LA, the effort to raise litter for them is dependent on the support of the masses! The theory is simple—the more clicks, the more litter donated! After launching the latest round of the GiveLitter™ charity on September 8, 5,000 pounds of litter has been raised thanks to the support of the giving community.

Help The Kitties!

Hi friends, I have a favor to ask.......
The Beaufort Community Cat Project needs your vote for the Animal Rescue Site Shelter Challenge. This money would be used for trap-neuter-return and would help to reduce the number of feral and stray cats entering our local animal shelter. Not only that, but it would help to reduce and prevent animal suffering by stabilizing and ultimately reducing free-roaming cat populations through TNR.
Click the link above and type "Beaufort Community Cat Project" for shelter name and "NC" for the state. You can vote once per day!!
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Movie Monday - A Double Feature

This is a video of Ziggy and Dixie....

This video is from 9 months ago. It's Saylor and Dixie....

Ziggy and Sweetie are still here. I have asked Sweetie's potential adopter to give me a definite answer by today. She has been having some health problems, but really wants Sweetie. We shall see how that goes.

Ziggy will be going on Petfinder sometime this week. Unfortunately, my boss was unable to take him at this time. He will still be going to work with me everyday and stealing my office chair.

We had a clinic on Saturday and 16 more free-roaming cats were spayed/neutered and vaccinated!! Total for 2010 is 161!

Sorry I haven't been around much lately, been feeling pretty overwhelmed. Have a ton of stuff going on, but I will try to keep up with the visiting as much as possible.

Monday Again

Ziggy and Sweetie are still here..... I had a call on Sweetie last week from a local lady who wanted to adopt her. I made the arrangements with Persian Rescue and had the adoption application all ready to go. I called the potential adopter on Friday, but still haven't heard back :(

Ziggy is the sweetest little thing and is still going to work with me everyday, but coming home after work. I still haven't had the nerve to leave him there over night. I really think my boss is interested in adopting him because he and his son really like him. We shall see.....Over the weekend, the BCCP participated in the AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day and we brought out 4 of the foster kittens and one found his forever home!! Congrats to Capt. Shrimper!

Ziggy

This design is available on Zazzle and CafePress!
Ziggy is still around and goes to work with me everyday. Still unsure if he will be an office cat or if I need to find him a new home. He gets along with everyone, especially Maggie May! They sound just alike, in fact, it's hard to tell their meows apart.

Movie Monday With Sweetie

Thought I'd update everyone on Sweetie with a video......Enjoy!

She's doing wonderfully and has gained a whole pound. Couldn't be happier with her progress and appetite. She goes Wednesday for her vaccinations and check up. Still not sure when she will be going to Persian Rescue, but she will eventually.

Zoey Is A Ziggy!

I was so sure the black kitten was a girl.....nope, it's a little boy! It's the SWEETEST little boy! Reminds me so much of Saylor, she was such a sweetheart (and still is). The vet estimated his age to be around 5-6 months old. Did someone dump him? Usually by that age with no human socialization, a cat is feral --not Ziggy! Oh the mysteries..... His future is still uncertain, but what I know for sure is, he will be safe in our home from Hurricane Earl.Maggie May likes to watch over him and they talk back and forth.

Earl has me a bit concerned, he's a biggie and he's getting close! The weather people say he is going to take a turn to the East and we pray he does because he is a CAT 4 system with winds of 135mph.We are in the yellow circle, may need to biggify.

How happy am I that Gretchen is in the house and we don't have to worry about her! I think she's pretty happy about it too :)
And of course, we still have Sweetie and she is doing wonderfully! She is eating like crazy and craves constant attention. If you don't give it to her, she gives you "the paw!"Please keep us and everyone in Earl's possible path in your thoughts. Of course, I am worrying myself to death of the feral cats, but I am thinking positive thoughts that they will find substantial shelter.

Wordy Wednesday - Saylor's Doppleganger

This is the new kitty "Zoey" who has showed up at work. Jr built her a "cattyshack." I cannot get over how much she looks like Saylor! I'm almost 100% sure they have the same momma because Saylor was trapped at the same place last year. I'd love to get that momma spayed, but we've never even seen her. Well, we trapped "Zoey" yesterday and she will be spayed today. I decided to do it now so that I can keep her in the house and safe from any inclement weather we may get from Hurricane Earl. We are right on the NC coast, so we may get brushed and I didn't want her out there all alone.

I'm going to try to make her my "office cat" at work. We'll see how that goes over with my boss. She is very sweet and rolls around and meows a lot when I visit her. I may put the trail camera out to see if momma kitty ever shows up at night.
