Quick As A Cricket
We read Quick as a Cricket by Audrey Wood and reviewed nouns. We learned that an adjective is a word that tells or describes the noun. We made a list of nouns and adjectives from the story and then we chose an animal to be our noun and a silly adjective to describe our animal. The students illustrated their noun and wrote their noun and adjective to create a sentence patterned after the book. We will make this into a class book that we can read and enjoy.

Bubba and The Cowboy Prince
We read Bubba and the Cowboy Prince and compared this fractured fairy tale to Cinderella. I typed up the similarities and differences between the two stories and the students helped me create a Venn Diagram to compare Bubba and Cinderella. Then the students drew and dictated a sentence to tell their favorite part of Bubba and The Cowboy Prince.

Dr. Suess Hat Day!
We started our Dr. Seuss week this week. Today we had Hat day. We read The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins. To review and identify nouns, we made a tree map of people, places and things from the book. Then, I had the students illustrate one of the nouns from the story. I thought they did I great job and this activity kept their attention better since this is one of Dr. Seuss longer books.
For Math today we enjoyed reading One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish and using rainbow goldfish to sort count and add the colors together.
