He’ll do whatever it takes to protect his mate. Halle Pumas, Book 3
Dr. Adrian Giordano is quite happy with the way his life is going. His two best friends are happily mated, and he’s still sanely single. He has friends, a thriving business, and the occasional Saturday night date. Then Sheridan Montgomery comes to town. His inner Puma responds to the husky-voiced snow princess in a way that tells him his life is about to be turned upside down. Sheri can’t believe her luck could be this bad. Instinct tells her Adrian is her mate, but the last thing she wants to do is drag him into her messy life. She’s on the run from a big bad wolf—an ex who won’t take no for an answer. Worse, if he catches her, he’s got the teeth (and the Pack!) to take what he wants. She doesn’t stand a chance alone, but with her friends—and the persistent Adrian—by her side, she might just survive. If her ex doesn’t eat the yummy Dr. Giordano for lunch, that is...
Dana Marie Bell wrote her first short story when she was thirteen years old. She attended the High School for Creative and Performing Arts for creative writing, where freedom of expression was the order of the day. When her parents moved out of the city and placed her in a Catholic high school for her senior year she tried desperately to get away, but the nuns held fast, and she graduated with honors despite herself.
Dana has lived primarily in the Northeast (Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, to be precise), with a brief stint on the US Virgin Island of St. Croix. She lives with her soul-mate and husband Dusty, their two maniacal children, an evil ice-cream stealing cat and a bull terrier that thinks it’s a Pekinese.
Another great fun quick read from this series. I really liked Adrian in the last two books so it was nice to see him fall for his mate and turn all sexy protective! Sheri was a unique heroine for me. She was albino. It got me googling and learning things about albinism. Yes I'm googler *hangs head in shame* Adrian and Sheri were cute together. Of course insta-love but their shifters so it kinda goes hand and hand mates/insta-love. This one wasn't as lighthearted as the other two but still just as good. This one did have a almost rape in it. I know that is a trigger for some and wanted to give a warning. It wasn't very detailed but still uncomfortable. I think people who enjoy Alexa Riley would enjoy this series. AR books is what kept poppin' in my head what with all the over the top protective growling heroes, sexy time and insta-love. I am really liking this series!
My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! I bought this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I own the whole set!
The cover is okay, but I prefer when the animals are present on the cover!
This is the 3rd book in the series, and it is for adults only due to the steamy content. This book is about 89 pages long and a quick read! The main character is attacked, and it is described, and those readers sensitive to attacks concerning rape type senarios should be aware prior to reading. This is my second time reading and loving this story!
This is Adrian and Sheri’s story! Sheri just moved to town because of her abusive ex boyfriend. She is hoping for safety in numbers. She has amazing strength because of her albinism she is considered legally blind and her ex boyfriend is vile. Adrian and Sheri realize they are mates, but initially, they think they are going to avoid the pull. Adrian is very protective of his Pride members, and it comes with a new job! They also get help from the Poconos Pack! This was another action packed read with an awesome HEA ending!
I highly recommend to all shifter fans who love action and HEAs!
This is a really good series, and this book in particular is great. I love both of the main characters. I love the development of the pride. And it fills in some questions I had in the series that follows (which I also recommend).
Dr. Adrian Giordano is comfortable in his life – glad for his friends and their recent mating, pleased with the business he operates and just glad overall for all he had.
The last thing he has on his agenda his finding a mate, but faith and his pheromones were against him when he is sent to escort Sheridan Montgomery to a pack meeting. From the moment he senses her he knows who she is – his life mate. But Adrian was not yet ready to be tied down and he was going to fight it as much as he can.
Sheridan Montgomery is looking for shelter- she is being hunted and she is really up against the wall in what to do. Coming home, as Halle feel like it - to friends who are more than open to helping her deal with the challenges that she knows will find her ultimately – she now awaits her escort to get the formal introduction to the pack on the way.
Sheri comes with serious baggage, a disability and a dog – but as soon as she senses Adrian, she waste no time in letting him know she was not in the run for a mate because as much as she wants to deny it she knows that Adrian is her mate.
Danger does come calling and it is in the shape of a big bad wolf and he was vicious and out for blood. The need to protect one’s mate is ingrained in Adrian and as much as he does not want a mate when he finds out what is after Sheri he man’s up and accepts his responsibility. Added to that he finds out he is more essential to the building of the Halle Pumas that he would ever have dreamed and along with making Sheri his own, Life in small town Halle has suddenly become a three ring circus.
CAT OF A DIFFERENT COLOR is the third book in the Halle Pumas series and there is danger, lust, love and power at play in this book. Straight off I was impressed with Sheri – it’s not often that I see a shifter book with a disable protag and I was immediately on the look out for how Ms. Bell would handle this part of the story.
Sheri and Adrian are well developed character and I liked the time Ms. Bell took to flesh them out and their ultimate roles in the pack. She gave them a sense of humour as well as a sense of community that would came in handy when they needed them.
The Halle Pumas themselves were not brush into the corner in this book, the hierarchy was being formed and this I loved more than anything else in the book – it’s was a well played move to see the pieces of a pack falling into place.
This books has wolves making an appearance and they do make and impact. For good and bad reasons but none the less they weigh heavily in how wonderful this book was.
The pace of the book moves fast – the scenes moves like snap shot of camera and with each picture I got, there was an excitement not only of the impending danger but of bigger things about to happen to this pack.
Bottom line…
CAT OF A DIFFERENT COLOR just solidify the fact that this series rocks. Ms. Bell tosses in some genuine danger and excitement in this book and I enjoyed it immensely. Sheri and Adrian are easy on the nerves and with a timely flow and enough smut to burn the sheets – I was loving this third book.
What a fun book this is. There’s just enough humor interspersed throughout combined with the action to make this a quick read where you’ll laugh out loud quite a bit. The rest of the time you’re just chuckling. Well, at least when you’re not cheering the hero on to kick the villain’s ass, that is.
Adrian is happy as can be in his single status; he doesn’t need the mating bliss his two best friends have recently found. Sheri doesn’t want a mate either but for very different reasons. She’s on the run from a wolf who abused her and then savagely attacked her. She’s come back to the Halle Pumas for protection. Denying Adrian is her mate is the only way she can keep him safe from the rabid wolf who wants her for his own only because she got away.
This big, bad kitty is not about to let her go, however, now that he’s admitted Sheri is his mate. So the loving and the fighting are on. The scenes between Adrian and Sheri go from tender to hot in 4.2 seconds. The action is just as fast when Sheri is kidnapped and Adrian and his pride, with the help of the local wolf pack, are not far behind. The ensuing shapeshifting and fight bring everything to a satisfying end.
I enjoyed all the characters in this book, so much so that I’m going to be buying the first two books in the series very soon. We get a nice setup at the end between the Alpha Wolf and Belle, a puma, for the next book in the series, and it sounds like it’s going to be one heck of a time.
Cat of a Different Color is the third book of the Halle Pumas series. This is Adrian and Sheridan’s book. Sheri is on the run from an abusive wolf-shifter relationship; she also has albinism, and the author gives us some info on the condition. Adrian is the co-eye dr. with Max; he’s pretty quiet, not a player. This is the first book where the couple were both already shifters, it’s also the first h that had previous sexual relationships. There’s a little resistance because Sheri doesn’t want to put Adrian in danger by claiming him. Other than saying “owie” she’s more mature/grown up compared to the previous h’s.
The main conflict in this one is dodging the attacks of the crazy ex. The author also spends page time into “remaking” Belinda from bitchy sidekick, to Belle, sweet and misunderstood, shunned pridemate. I typically don’t dig the villain overhaul, but Belinda really wasn’t bad (she made a couple of bitchy-ish comments the first book) so I’m ok w/ it. :) We’re also introduced to members of the neighboring wolf pack. (I smell spin-off)
Bottom Line-Better than the last one. Sheri/Adrian are probably the lowest key, most mature of the bunch, so it wasn’t full of stupid jokes… a plus for me. The epilogue sets up the next book for a Puma/Wolf match up.
Oh, I loved this one more than the first! while the fact she's legally blind is slightly surprising, its even more surprising that she has a dog. A cat shifter, with a dog. made me go 'huh?' but, I like the dog. And, I love her red eyes!
CAT OF A DIFFERENT COLOR is the third book in the Halle Pumas series, and as with the previous two books, it was a light, fun and quick read. We’ve met Adrian very briefly before (he is Max’s business partner), but we haven’t met Sheri until now. She was turned by Max in college to protect her from a stalker ex-boyfriend, who happens to be a wolf shifter. His harassment has become so serious that she has finally requested to become a member of the pride for extra protection.
CAT OF A DIFFERENT COLOR is told in dual POVs and comes with a HEA for Adrian and Sheri. While each novella could technically be read as a stand-alone, I think it’s best to read the series in order, to fully understand how the pride works. The usual amount of humour⎯and animalistic sex⎯is present in this story as well, but thanks to the stalker ex, there is a darker scene that could be a trigger for some readers.
3.5 stars: Best in the series...enjoyable shapeshifter romance
Entertaining shapeshifter romance with appealing characters. High level of suspense towards the end kept me on the edge of my seat. Good snarky dialogue made me laugh out loud several times. Like the other books, I would have liked the romantic relationship to be a little more developed. However, the plotline in this book was stronger than in previous books in the series.
The world building around being a shapeshifter, pack organization, etc. was a bit weak in the first two books, but the author did a better job with it in this installment. The part when Max explained the key pack roles and the Marshall position were interesting, and seeing the process how the Marshall accepted the mantel and how he could sense when packmates were in pain.
This installment introduced some interesting new wolf pack characters, e.g., Richard the alpha, and it hints he is being setup as a main character to mate with Belle in a future book.
Ok so I'm starting to get a little cheesed off at this series... the whole to much rehash and now it's like an advertisement. Do company's pay to have their names placed in books???? I mean REALLY!
All this other crap is starting to interfere with my enjoyment of reading. I really don't care much about these characters in this book, but I do like the others so I read on.... It's just really disappointing when you can tell authors aren't into their own stories.
Can I add that the sex dialogue was way to much like a bad porn movies, it was like a guy wrote it.... and very annoying. But then I'm not very - you man, me woman... take me. yeah.. KMA and not in the fun way.
Although this story did continue on from "Sweet Dreams," the story got a bit incoherent towards the end. I liked the idea of Sheri, the heroine, having a rough past, and finding her true mate, Simon, after having such difficulties with her old boyfriend. Unfortunately, the story just fell flat somewhere between the climax (no pun intended!LOL!) and the ending. The love scenes were raw and erotic and the humor was still good, but neither tied in with the whole storyline of the Halle Pumas. Too many things just didn't mesh!

Another great book in the Halle Puma's series! Sheri was a human who ended up attacked by her werewolf asshat boyfriend and was turned into a puma to save her life. She's been running and hiding from him ever since. She decides to join the Halle Puma's for some stability and what do ya know, she meets hunky puma dr. Adrian :) Adrian had decided he didn't want a mate, until he meets snow princess Sheri! We then see the pumas plan to defeat the aforementioned asshat ex. It was a good fight and a good book!
Another fun, quick read about the Halle Pumas. This time Adrian, a doctor who's happy to keep out of the top leadership of his pride, finds a mate in a brand new member, Sheri. She has only the most limited vision and is being stalked by a deranged ex, a wolf gone rogue. Sheri completely changes Adrian's life. Not only does he become a mated puma, but her presence and the danger following her call forth his unknown powers.
This book overlaps slightly with the previous one, it seems to be a regular occurence in the series.
This book follows Adrian and Sherri. Sherri is being stalked by a werewolf and comes to the pride seeking refuge. Another quick enjoyable story but with more plot and character development.
These stories just get better and better! My goodness.....as I predicted, Adrian's story was just cute and perfect and totally romantic! I think I am addicted to this series! Way to go Ms. Bell....! Next up is Belinda's story!! ;)
These books really are a fun, quick read with hot sex and plenty of laughs :) I love the characters in this series and I enjoy the diversity of them all.

Heathers Notes These stories are so short, and they read really quickly. I enjoy them but it is hard to give them a higher rating because they are so short. Still I will continue to read them, especially since I can usually finish one in a setting.
3.5/5 I enjoyed this more than the first two in the series. We come into the book knowing a number of the secondary characters. We were introduced to the protagonist as well. I thought she was unique. I don't know that I have read of a protag with similar conditions in the past and I did enjoy how it was handled. There was a lot more world building in this book and I was glad to see it. We also got a greater understanding of roles in the pride. The conflict felt immediate and built throughout the entire book till the climax. I did not expect how the climax finished and that isn't a bad thing. I also liked how they set up a future book (the next?).
Recommendation: This was a fun read. It helps to have read the previous books. We have both cat shifters and werewolves in this short novel. It is an easy read with nothing overly serious confronting the reader.
Another intense yet sweet instalment from the Halle pumas. This book has lists of great aspect, it's fast paced, witty and fun. But it also has the heat and intensity we all love from alpha males and their mates.
This is one of the best author of paranormal romance, in my opinion. D. M B. made several series whith sexys shifters, I Liked absolutely all her books. Tan recomendable, todo lo que escribe esta estupenda autora... Buscad también manada Poconos y Gray Court. Totalmente adictivas.
