Going by the synopsis, Warm Bodies didn't come across as a book I would want to read. Then I saw the movie trailer and it was so twisted and so silly that I just had to read the book.
Told in the voice of a young man who only goes by the name of R, Warm Zombies takes place in dystopian world somewhere in the U.S. Zombies roam the land. R is one of those zombies. He doesn't remember anything about his previous life - his age or his name, where he came from, his family. R spends his days milling around an abandoned airport, riding the escalators up and down and occasionally standing around moaning and groaning with the other zombies. He even has a best friend - M. But R isn't like the typical walking dead. When he isn't eating people, he reflects in an airplane he calls home. When he does sleep. he dreams. He listens to music - R has a nice vinyl collection. Like I wrote, R isn't the typical zombie.
One day on an outing to get some "food", R attacks a young man named Perry and eats his brain. Zombies eat brains for the victim's memories. By eating the brain, the zombie can almost remember what it's like to be human, to feel again, to be alive. And it's by eating Perry's brain and experiencing his memories, R learns that Perry was very in love with a girl named Julie. R sees Julie and that's where everything changes for R. He becomes fascinated with Julie. He protects from the other zombies. He gives her shelter in his "home." He finds food and beer for her in the airport. R knows a few words so they're able to talk to each other for the most part. Julie is initially wary of R but she slowly warms up to him and her feelings for R grow. What R and Julie feel for each other has the potential to actually change the world and some don't like that possibility and they're gonna stop it before it goes too far.
This book was a fun read. I went in thinking that this book wouldn't be much but I'm glad I was proven wrong. Sometimes you need to read that one book that gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling after reading it and this was the book for me.
I loved R. He's the quintessential romantic hero. He's endearing and funny and just so darn likeable. But he's a zombie. You're not supposed to like zombies. Julie isn't bad either. She's one tough cookie. Julie had a rough time coming of age in the safe confines of a football stadium. She got herself in some questionable situations and made some bad choices but don't mistake that as weak. Julie can hold her own.
I'm glad this book wasn't The Walking Dead meets Twilight. Ick. That would have been a mess. It's a well written, touching and humorous story. I'm anxious to see how it plays on film.
The ending leaves a possibility for a sequel but Warm Bodies really doesn't need a sequel. Is there going to be a part two? I would like to see how things came to be after the events in the book. ...more

An unassuming hobbit by the name of Bilbo Baggins has his quiet existence disturbed when friend and wizard Gandalf shows up at his door with 13 dwarves to embark on a adventure. Along the way they encounter trolls, goblins, elves and a nasty dragon guarding the treasure they're seeking. Bilbo also finds a wee object that helps him get out of some perilous situations.

The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest picks up immediately where the second book leaves off. Lisbeth has got herself into one hell of a predicament. She's in critical condition in a hospital with a bullet hole in her head. The ever faithful Mikael Blomkvist, the Millennium staff and some other people that Mikael meets along the way, come together to bail Lisbeth out of the nasty situation she fell into in the second book. There is a theory being thrown around in the book involving the Swedish secret police and the government and how they are conspiring to keep Lisbeth locked away in jail or a mental institution for the rest of her life so their secrets won't be exposed.
Like its predecessor, the book was a slow read for me in the beginning. It started off with a bang because book two had such a crazy ending. The action slows down in the middle of the book and it gets downright boring. I sped read through most of that. I really do not care to read about what time a character woke up in the morning, what they ate for breakfast, if they showered, what they had for lunch and dinner and what time they went to bed. There's a lot of that in this book. It was really unnecessary. I feel the Ericka Berger storyline was written just to give her character something to do in the book. It had nothing to do with what was going on in the book, much like Mikael's romance with with a security agent.
The plot does picks up in the last 200 pages or so and that's when I had a hard time putting the book down. I just had to know how everything was going to fall into place at the end and how the wrongs set against Lisbeth made right.
The series had such a short lifespan. It's a shame that Stieg Larsson is no longer with us. I think the series had a few good books left to be written. Isn't it ironic that a minor character drops dead of a heart attack at a relatively young age much like the author?
Thank you Stieg Larsson for writing such an amazing series and creating such a memorable character.

It’s about one and half yeaThe Girl Who Played With Fire is the second book in the Millennium series featuring Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist. It’s about one and half years after the events in the first book occurred and Lisbeth Salander is living quite comfortably. She’s been able to travel around the world with her new found wealth (which is explained in the first book) and has made a wee home on a Caribbean island. Before long restlessness and a particular incident she got herself wrapped in sends her back to Sweden.
Back in Sweden, investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist hasn’t forgotten about Lisbeth and wonders what’s she up to. A juicy story falls into his lap and Mikael attention focuses on that. Journalist Dag Svesson is working on a story with his girlfriend Mia Johansson about sex trafficking in this Sweden and this story is set to expose a number of high profile individuals. Millennium agrees to publish the book and print the story in their magazine but before the expose is set to hit the stands, Mikael finds the journalist and his girlfriend brutally murdered in their apartment and forensic evidence from the crime scene implicates Lisbeth in the murders and later, the murder of her advocate.
Of course Mikael doesn’t believe that Lisbeth is guilty and if she is, there has to be a damn good reason for it. Millennium begins a counter investigation to the murders with some help Lisbeth herself, who is in hiding and is communicating with Mikael through his computer.
We learn more about Lisbeth past and her family and why she is the way she is and how all of that, including the imminent expose relates to a mysterious and dangerous character known as Zala.
It was difficult to get into this book initially. It started of very slow for me. The story line wasn’t resonating with me so I put the book aside and came back to it later (much like the first book). There is a lot of stuff going on all at once in the book. There are many characters in this book that and it’s hard to keep up at first and it can be overwhelming to try to remember all of the players and their role in the book. Once the story starts moving however, everything falls into place, you really don’t forget who is who. The action doesn’t start until the middle of the book. When it gets going, you really don’t want to put the book down.
I love Lisbeth Salander. I really do. This book shows that she is much more than a bad ass. She shows a vulnerable, nurturing side towards certain characters in the book and she might have shed a tear or two at one point. I think by showing Lisbeth’s softer side, the author is making her a bit more relatable. The reader can empathize with her more easily, especially when details of her childhood come to light. You get some understanding into her personality.
Some of the side characters in the book, in my opinion, weren’t really needed. Each one has their own agenda as it relates to the murder investigation. There is a lot of homophobia and bigotry and women hate coming off some of these characters and I really to punch these people in the face. It was aggravating.
The ending of the book was crazy, shocking and unexpected. I’m anxious to read how everything pans out in the final book....more

I wanted to see this book all the way to the messy end. Just like Divergent, this book moves at a rapid fire pace. I want to kno what happens in th next chapter, and in the next chapter and so on. Tris is still kicking ass as usual but her constant converstaions she has in her head cocerning her self doubt and lying to Tobias and her friends and her family and Tobais and this and that really grew tiring. I was torn between rooting her on and wanting to slap her for being so stupid. And now that we know why the factions were created, I want to see how that knowledge plays out in the next book and how what the factions/factionless are going to do with that knowledge. ...more

She prepared herself for such an occassion by placing a letter to herself in her pocket detailing who she is and how to get through the rest of the day without getting herself killed. She later discovers that she is a Rook for a secret service agency for paranormals and that someone in that organization wants her dead and she has to find out who and why that is.
So the new Myfannwy follows all these directives that the old Myfannwy left her to follow so she can assimilate into her life as a Rook in this MI-5 type agency without causing too much attention to the fact that she's an amnesiac. The old Myfannwy left the Myfannwy a binder full of history on the Cheqcuy and dossiers on all the people she will most likely be in contact with while working there, just background info on people who could have betrayed her and info on her powers and how she came to be a part of this organization. She is doing a pretty good job of b.s.-ing her way through work but then and incident that is the agnecy's worst nightmare manifests itself so not only does she have to find who was behind her amnesia she has to find out who and why was behind unleashing this evil entity and why before something grave happens.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a well written, fast-paced, roller coaster of a story. I didn't feel the need to skip through pages just to find the good parts. Every chapter left you wanting to find out what happens next. I loved the protagonist. She had a great sense of humor, witty and from descriptions, the polar opposite of her former self. I found myself rooting for her to get to the bottom of the betrayal and kick some ass in the process.
Is there going to be a part two? I would love to read more of Myfannwy's adventures....more

I first pick up this book to read a few months ago and I couldn't get into it. I thought it started off too slow and I put it aside for to read something else. I decided to give this book a go again and unlike the time, I couldn't put it down! I couldn't wait to read the next chapter, then the chapter, then the next chapter. I finished it in about a day.
There are a lot of people to remember in this novel and a few sub-plots going on apart from the main plot line but it wasn't a problem to keep track of everything and everyone.
I was surprised by the amount of violence the book had toward women. I guess it's all part of the story but I was still taken aback. The graphic violence and sex didn't take anything away from the story. It didn't make me any less interested to continue reading it but it just wasn't expected.
Now I have to watch both movies and compare them to the book.
