I'm not an avid Fantasy reader. It's hard for me to review this without giving too much away. There are so many details in these books, sometimes my head is spinning with them.
I will say that I love the dragons though. And I'll probably pick up the third book when it comes out due to the fact that I'm sort of invested in these characters. And the events that happened in the end has definitely left me curious
**After re-listening to this book, I still don't like it as much as Fourth Wing. But, I was more into this the second time around and really enjoyed it. We are back at Basgiath War College and it's Violet's second year. We're introduced to some new first years. And one particular student has it out for Violet. I won't get into that since it will spoil some events from the first book. We still don't get a lot of answers in regards to the ending of Fourth Wing, but I'm into it. The audio is the way to go in my opinion. Great narration.**...more

There are so many details to a fantasy, it's hard to break it down. I loved Violet though. She is our main protagonist. Once I take to a character, I'm in. There is a rivalry between her and Xayden, who I also loved, that turned into a super hot romance. And there are dragons! Which I surprisingly loved most about this book. The banter between the human and their dragon was hilarious.
The audio for this book is also very good.
**I re-listened to this book recently and found myself more involved in the story. My rating went up to 5 stars! Now I'm invested and obsessed. Along with everyone else. LOL!**...more

Bel was only a toddler when her mother went missing and doesn't remember much about that day or her mother. Ramsey Lee, a film maker from South London, is interested in Rachel's case and wants to do a documentary. Out of nowhere, Rachel reappears one day looking ragged and wearing the same clothes she was wearing the day she disappeared. But things don't seem right. Bel is very fishy of this woman claiming to be her mother. With the help of her friend Ash, a crew member from the documentary, Bel is determined to get to the bottom of her mother's disappearance and now reappearance. This was very entertaining with lots of twist and turns and characters doing crazy things all for the sake of family. I did find the ending a little on the weak side, but all in all I had a great time with this book. 4.5 is my true rating. The audio for this book was also great....more

Blaine and his boyfriend, Joey, have been dating for a year when Joey breaks up with Blaine for basically not being good enough. Joey's parents are high class people that only want the best for their son and Blaine is not it. So Blaine is going to prove them wrong and win Joey back by running for Senior class President. And that's pretty much it in a nutshell. There was some teenage drama with Blaine and his friends. A sketchy election and a connection between Blaine and his new found friend, Daniel.
It was cute and fun. I give it a 3.5 star for entertainment....more

Anthony and Cameron explore new areas of their relationship. And they both face their families about their sexuality.
Omar and Silvia also move forward in their relationship. Although Silvia is questioning her sexuality when she meets Keisha. Keisha is open about being a lesbian and is falling for Silvia. Silvia also goes to extreme lengths to protect her family. While Omar is just trying to prove himself to his family.
Rickey and Diego's friendship also evolves. Diego is presented to us as a bully in the first book. But there is something about him that makes Rickey want to stay close to him and help him with whatever it is that is making him so angry and acting out.
Mindi is just going with the flow hoping one day she'll find her prince. And she almost does.
I can't wait to find out more about our teens in book 3.

Anthony is in love with his best friend, Omar. Omar has the hots for Silvia who works at the local record store. Ricky is the new kid in town, scoping the gay scene online. Cameron is our boy next door type. He's also gay and not out. Mindi is just boy crazy. And a good friend in general. There's also Diego, who seems to be a bully, but there's really more to him. I'm hoping for more of him in the next book.

17 year old Scarlet finds out she is the daughter of the infamous serial killer, Jeff Lake. She has grown up not knowing anything about her father. Her mother kept details to herself. As well as was very protective of Scarlet over the years. And Scarlet never knew why. Until the day her father states that he will give the names of the missing girls to his daughter before he dies. Lake has pancreatic cancer.
I thought the story would be a little more exciting than it turned out to be. There were some aspects that I did enjoy. But it was mostly how Scarlet reacts towards her father and of course a little teenage love thrown in the mix.
It was an ok read for me. The narration was really good....more

Hunter is, of course, the prime suspect.
This was entertaining enough. There were a few suspects that gave me pause and I honestly didn't see it coming. But, it was very unsatisfactory. I liked following Hunter around trying to clear his name. His friends trying to help. In the end, none of it made since to me. And I still don't feel like I understand why. I just kept asking like the book would answer, "But why?"

We have 6 teenage influencers here who have been invited a newly built amusement park on an island called Jagged Island. Malcolm, who has built this park, wants these popular teens to promote his new island. When they get there, things start to happen. They loose cell phone service. A storm is coming. And people are missing. Sounds promising right. It really wasn't. I lost interest to the point that it just became background noise. (I listened via audio). I should have DNF'd it. Alas though! The plot twist at the end got pretty interesting, but I still didn't get the why of it all. And then we have the ending. I should drop this down to a one star after that ending....more

The whole story takes place in an RV. Six friends on their way to Spring Break. Until they end up with a flat tire or more and find themselves stranded in a secluded area. Is someone targeting them? Do they know this someone? The story didn't really pick up until we get closer to the end. And even though the twist was pretty good, I was underwhelmed. My favorite fencing team goes to France for some training at Camp Menton. I think I liked this one better than the first one. We get a little more feelings from our guys in this book. Nicholas and Seiji are becoming great friends. Seiji makes me laugh. I love his dryness. And I feel Nicholas brings out the best in him. I enjoyed Aiden and Harvard's story more in the book too. I was frustrated with Aiden a lot more, but I also wanted Harvard to open his eyes. Little Bobbi and Dante seem to be getting closer. And Eugene found a friend in France that shares his bro love of protein shakes.
So cute. I smiled and laughed the entire time I read this. Such a good time....more

We follow Mauve, Phoebe and Knox. All juniors in high school. Mauve is Bronwyn's, from the first book, little sister. Phoebe's family is still suffering the lost of their father years ago. Knox is best friends with Mauve, whom he dated but then realized they were better as friends.
We do hear from some of our characters from the first book, so that was fun. In this one, the Simon like gossip game continues as Truth or Dare. As we follow each of our characters, their darkest secrets are thrown out there for all to hear. Will it tear them apart or bring them closer together.
Others play a role in this fun mystery as well. Emma is Phoebe's older sister. Owen is Phoebe and Emma's younger brother. Brandon is a total bully and just an asshole in general. Sean is Brandon's friend and also a bully. There are some other minor characters that also play a part in all this.
It was a good time. We have backstories to our characters too that keeps the story flowing. I also listened to this via audio and loved the narration....more

Simon is the outcast and creator of a gossip app for Bayview High. He's notorious for spilling all the tea, so to speech. He's not well liked. So when he turns up dead before the end of detention, everyone who's path Simon has crossed is a suspect. Our four teens definitely have secrets, giving all of them motive.

Caleb is our cute jock. He's on the football team. He's a super nice guy. Until his power gets in the way and he sort of looses control. Caleb is an Empath. He's very intuitive to others feelings. And before he learns how to control it, it was hard for him to tell that the feelings he was feeling were coming from the people around him and not him himself.
Adam is super smart and on the emo side. He has depression that will knock him down some days to where he can't even get out of bed.
Caleb is drawn to Adam in a way that he doesn't understand. He just knows that he likes being around Adam. It makes him calm. Caleb learns how to put the feelings he feels from others into a color category. And Adam's color mixed with his gives him that calm effect.
This was very interesting and the premise really pulled me in. I liked how Caleb discovered who he was through his power of empathy. I loved Caleb and Adam's friendship. Like I said, it was cute.
