I have been seeing it for years but since I'm not such a big fan of werewolves I skipped it more than a few times. Lately, I had nothing to read so why not? I didn't have high expectations, so I would say the story is developed well. It was rather quiet, not much action happening. Sam was kinda okay, too decent for me and unrealistic. Oh, and emotional... While Grace was plain boring and selfish. Yeah, I kept hearing that Grace is so good and caring but to who? Not her parents or her friends... she's devoted only to Sam. The writing was pretty average but the slow development was killing me. I don't know how can I continue to come across such books... It's frustrating! And I thought this book was okay with me! Wow... :D

I liked the writing style and the story. It would have been a great full-length book! The "demonstration" caught me a little off guard... I didn't expect it but wow... hot as hell! The chemistry between Ryker and Ally was off the charts and sex scenes... were steamy! It's the first time reading this author and I'm impressed!

Vision in Silver felt more like a preparation of what it's coming. And not all of what is coming is good. Meg made some mistakes while trying to help. The other blood prophets are struggling with their new lives. It's revealed that some prophecy can be made without needing to cut the skin. I wanted the Others to fight back, if not physically, then through the media. I couldn't stand how they were blamed for the shortages. (view spoiler)[Humans against humans... why I am not surprised?! (hide spoiler)] The human pack is growing and tries to work with the Others. And something nice could come from this...
And last... I want more Simon/Meg scenes... The horizon is too far away for now... Everyone can sense something is happening between them, but these two takes things so slow... All this talk about petting and playing with wolves... I want it too!

Murder of Crows was a little different than Written in Red. I loved everything except the too many POVs. Someone's thoughts would end unexpectedly and some other's thoughts would begin. It was confusing. Apart from that, I had fun reading the second book of the series. There were so many different characters and so much information. I loved the scenes at the first pages. I laughed so much when Meg kicked Simon and the subsequent drama... The romance is coming! Slow and painful, but I can see it on the horizon!
I didn't expect to like Written in Red so much... Creating a world in which people are aware of the supernatural is a breath of fresh air. Also, humanI didn't expect to like Written in Red so much... Creating a world in which people are aware of the supernatural is a breath of fresh air. Also, humans are not the dominant race. They're the prey. At first, the way the Others see the humans was startling. We're literally meat on a stick. However, along with Meg, the blood prophet, I began to see more under their surface.

Meg is a heroine I was drawn immediately. She can see the future just by cutting herself. Running away for the Controller, she is coming across the Lakeside Courtyard and his leader, Simon Wolfgard. While I'm not fond of the name Simon, it was fitting for that character. I didn't like him very much... He was scary and always snarling at Meg. Further in the story he starts to care for her... small gestures I would say. He gives Meg the Liasion' job. Accepting mail deliveries and sorting it out is part of her job. While she may seem to be child-naive and weak, I wouldn't agree. I'm sick of female badasses who are the best assassins and no one can beat them. Enough with this feminism. Yeah, everyone wants to be independent, smart and pretty. You can be it without being aggressive and upright. Actually, Meg is some of these things without intruding into your eyes... unlike some other female character in the book. She is kind and delicate but stubborn. Some of the Other befriends Meg because of her attitude. She somehow makes that thing which touches them. Now Simon... he is just that protagonist who is dominant enough to be a leader, but he doesn't overdo it. He is handsome as a human and Wolf but also smart and fearsome. He is also fiercely protective of those he cherished. What I loved is that Meg and Simon didn't fall into the predictable love trap. I mean many authors rely on sex scenes to make up for the plot... Not here though. There are clues left about their attraction here and there.

I really enjoy the way this new world is built on and his many characters. Each of the different POVs was intriguing to read. The story is well written and you're immediately charmed to dive into it. It reminded me of the books my mom used to give when I was younger. I have always been drawn to supernatural and books gave me other worlds to explore. The first books my mom encouraged me to read were The Spirit Ring and The Curse of Chalion of Lois McMaster Bujold. I could barely leave the books to study and sleep. They were written in a way that was talking to me. Something in Written in Red gives me this feeling again. Words don't always have to be big and aggressive for me to hear them. In books like this one, the dynamic is eerie and quiet but then it feels the most threatening. Anne Bishop is one of the best writers I've ever encountered. I would definitely recommend the series....more
