Because let me tell you, this is already the second book today that I've dropped. And you might think that something is wrong with me but honey, when you read this book you'll definitely agree with me that it's all this authors fault. So let me tell you why I simply couldn't read more than a few chapters of this horrible book. The main reason is the heroine. She thinks of herself the type of person that considers all her options and danger before jumping into a situation but what dowe get when she's actually in danger? Total TSL character with no brain. She sees her saviour beat the guys that wanted to rape her, then she slaps the hero, orders him to call her sister and tell her she's not to blame for her death (which in my opinion she partially is) and on top of that blames and chides him for killing one of those bastards in self defense and doing all the potential victims a favour. I mean, ARE YOU FOR FUCKING REAL???!!!

Wow, I marely made it through two chapters before I quit. I think that's even a record for me. This book was so not what I expected. From the blurb and the great reviews I was really looking forward to reading it but boy oh boy was this a disappintment. The heroine was just so childish and not even strong. And what's with the action in the first chapter, are you for real? Where's the build up? I felt like I was thrown into cold water and was then left to drown. Safe to say this book didn't make any sense to me at all, so I thankfully stopped myself from going deeper into that rabbit hole.

So when I saw in the blurb the name Atlantis, the Bermuda Triangle and shapeshifters I knew I wanted to read this book. And sadly I think I had too high hopes, since the first 40% of the story were so not my jam. As in, did the heroine really have nothing better to do than to fling herself at every male she met? I mean honestly, that made me want to stop reading the book a couple of times, since this book is supposedly about mates and so on... To say I disliked the heroine would be a mild understatement. Just her whole personality was awful and she all blamed it on her hormones. That to me screams the usual dimwit heroine that no one likes and roots for, me included. The only redeeming characters were Raif and Ashlyn. I even felt bad for her ex slash her back on boyfriend slash the cheated on boyfriend. I mean, the whole thing is just an emotional mess. Oh, right, did I mention we don't get a good ending? Nope, well now you've been warned. Since this book is so short it felt almost like this is only the half of the story and I hope we get the other half in the second book of this series. Otherwise, what was the point in writing this one?!
It all may seem like I have nothing good to say about the characters and plot but there is still hope for this series to grow. I loved the vamps and other supernatural beings, so maybe their books will be better. I don't know, but I sure hope so... ...more

And you can only imagine how I feel about this book or more precisely about Sara aka. the human and the non existing plot. This book is a joke and I feel sorry for anyone that wasted their time reading it. Thankfully I stopped at 30% but it still makes me feel irritable for having lost the time I'll never get back. Just what was the author thinking when she wrote this book? Pray you'll never know, because it for sure wasn't anything worth remembering. The only reason I rated it with two stars was because of Pestilence. Him I liked, others not so much, obviously. In fact, you know what, Pestilence should've just killed that annoying human, done us all a favour and not make us suffer instead.
It's been awhile since I've last read a PNR book, and a good one at that. So when I read the blurb for this one, I thought it would be just DNF at 73%
It's been awhile since I've last read a PNR book, and a good one at that. So when I read the blurb for this one, I thought it would be just what I was looking for. But sadly, nope, no such luck. It all started out fine and I was excited for the story to slowly pick up. And don't get me wrong, I liked the plot but the problem for me were the characters. I mean, I did get some of them and their personalities didn't bother me much, like with Destroy, he's actually one of my favourite characters in this book. The problem that I was having, especially with Carolena's character, was after the 50% mark. Boy oh boy, was she a push over. Seriously, the main reason why I gave up on the entire story was because of her! I just coulnd't stand her weak, goody, whimsy and self-righteous character anymore. Thank God I've got low blood preasure, because she sure did bring it right back up. At least she was good for something! [image]
And let's not forget about Carnage, the man / Gargoyle himself. Yeah, they make a perfect couple. One, who's head is always in the clouds and one, who doesn't know the first thing about good communication - and by that I don't mean that he has some speech problems, what I mean is that maybe, I mean just maybe, he could have said at least something before leaving his 'claimed' woman alone for days. Like, come on! Had it been me, I wouldn't give a rat's ass about your reasons, you'd just be gone from my life, all right!
Now I will admit, there were times where I almost wished Enthrall would get the woman but then again I'm not so mean to bring such unfortune upon the poor pall. I'm sure the future holds something or better said someone better out for him. The same with Destroy. I've got a good feeling about him and his story. So maybe I'll give his book a try but definitely not at the moment. I first need to recover from all this bullshit that went on in this book. And with that, I rest my case! You do what you want with it, I'mma go get me a better PNR story to read.

When I saw the blurb and the book cover I was totally sold on this story. But when I started to reading it, it was just not what I expected it to be. I was not expecting the main character to be so immature. And also the way the story unfolds is just too unrealistic to me. I cannot immagine how a young girl leaves to travel the world with a hot boy (her description), who she only met and not telling her parent or any adult for that matter. The scenes are too jumpy and to me they feel unfinished. Like how for example, this young girl is left to wait for her cousin all alone and not knowing, if he will really show up and then in the next page that is also a new chapter this whole matter is just skipped and not even mentioned. They why bother to write such a scene in the first place? It just makes the reader feel confused and the story slowly becomes more underwhelming. I think had the author connected the scenes more and made the girl more mature I would have loved this story. But sadly due to the issues mentioned above, this is just not my cup of tea.

I really liked the first book but this one, oh boy... What a disappointment, truly! The first 40% or so were all right but then it slowly just went downhill. I felt like nothing really happened and the worst part were the main characters. From the 70% mark till the end I just skimmed the book and was so not impressed by what I read. Alina went back to her immature, at times even bitchy character. Not to mention how weak she was. I honestly don't see what they all saw in her. Like what great leader, what wonderful love interest, what great personality...WHERE WERE THEY?!!! Because I sure as heck didn't see any of them! And to be honest, I kinda understood why Mal turned out they way he did by the end of the story. By they way Alina behaved it's no wonder he would do the crazy things he did. Drinking, fighting and not to mention that lovely scene with such 'lovely' person. Not that I condone that kind of behaviour, not by a long shot. I'm just saying I can understand what drove him to it, that's all. The only two characters that I liked were the Darkling (yes, I still like him and if you don't like that then I don't really care...) and Nikolai. At least they made the whole story a bit more interesting and kept things fresh. Not like the rest of the characters...

To be honest, I can see why so many people liked this story, me included. It's fresh and things never get boring. Also, while I'm not a love triangle fan, I did enjoy the romance in this book. Granted, it's not the greatest love story of all time but it's cute enough for me to like it. I liked Mal as well as the Darkling. There were times when I liked the Darkling more than Mal, until the ending that is. All those plot twists made me second guess the characters personality and if they really aren't what they seem. The author did great work with all main characters and while it took me more time to warm up to Alina by the end of the story I grew to like her. At the beginning I didn't like how weak and cynical she was, since that could've saved her so much grief and heartbreak but at the same time as the story progressed I could see her grow into a stronger person. I also liked Genya's character. Despite the cultural differences, she didn't let others bring her down. There were things she could've done differently but she's only human, so I didn't expect her to be a saint. As for the other characters, well, I wasn't really a fan of. Too much pretence and snobbiness for my taste. What I also liked and what I was quite surprised by is the ending. The story ends on a cliffhanger and the way it ended makes it a great setup for the next book, which I will definitely reading soon. ...more

You kinda know the base of the story but there's always an exciting element to a newly told story. And since this book is a bit longer than most re-tellings I thought I was in for a great read. And I did like the story until the 60% mark. Then things just became a bit anticlimatic for me. In the beginning the author included great details and I could connect to the characters. But nearing the end of the story I lost that connection, since it felt like the author rushed the ending and the emotional state of the characters. Especially about Spencer near the end of the story. I just missed more details. More thoughts on why and how Ruby started to see the beast in a new light, since she wasn't exactly fan of his and his actions.I think that would've made it more believable to me. Also, I just couldn't really warm up to Ruby's character. At times she really was behaving like a brat and it sure made me dislike her even more. Thankfully the same can't be said about Lincoln. I really liked his character. He was scarred by life and my heart just broke for him. I'm glad he got his happiness, he really deserved it. There was not enough explanation and logical thread to the story and the characters actions. Not to mention the epilogue. It felt like a was reading a biography without a hint of emotion. They were just stated facts, one after another and it left me with an unpleasant feeling. Not what you'd expect from a romantic book ending. I just wished for a smoother ride, that's all. Now, to be fair I did attempt to read it when it was first released and by attempt I mean that I did read a few chapters. Back then the story just didn't pull me in and I don't know if it was a weird timing or something else, but I just felt it'd be better to set it aside for when I'm ready to give it another try. And I'm glad that I did, otherwise I'd be missing out on a great story. To be honest, I didn't read the first book in this series, so I didn't know what happened with Maya and also I wished for the glossary to be at the beginning of the book and not the end, since there are some strange words for the creatures we meet in the story and I didn't know exactly what they were. That being said, maybe I should've read the first book but it wasn't so bad that I couldn't follow the plot. As for the plot itself, I quite liked it. It's a quest for power that in the end turns into a much more important life value. I loved all the details about this new magical world, that really helped me to imagine what it actually looked like and made me feel more connected to the story and characters. Now as for the main characters, I'm a fan of Vikram's. He's really smart and at times his determination and positivity makes him almost innocent in his view of the world. But he also has a sad past, same as Gauri. And that's something that bonds them together and slowly forges this beautiful friendship that will more times than not save their lives. And while I like Vikram, I can't say the same for Gauri. I just didn't connect with her as much as I did with Vikram. She's strong and a fighter but also so pessimistic and so full of guilt that it at times really clouds her judgement. And more times than not the only way she deals with all that guilt is to lash out at the people who are the closest to her. That made her a bit immature in my eyes but she's only eighteen, so I'll cut her some slack. All in all, I liked the story and I'm glad I finally read it.

So sadly this book is a disappointment for me. At first it looked quite good and the plot was interesting but all the smirking and being overly badass became at some point plain boring and the story couldn't keep my attention. I like strong heroines and equally strong heroes but with this story I didn't feel that. It was more like the heroine was the alpha and pushed the hero into being her beta. And that's not how a good relationship looks like. It's all about respect and trust and I didn't get that feel from their relationship. I get that both have their past and the heroines especially wasn't a pretty one but for me it was too much, her constantly trying to prove dominance, even though she was indeed stronger than him. Because of that I couldn't finish reading the story. For those who don't have that problem, this book is not bad. So, if you like the blurb, read the story. ...more

At first I enjoyed the plot and the usual power couple. It was fun and full of action. But then after they got to Europe all the good feeling went to hell. And I hate to say it but Curran was such an ass to Kate, unbelievable. Like, the reason he did what he did is so weak, I really wanted to punch him during the remaining story. Also Kate, what were you doing?! Always saying you'll find him and talk to him and when you finally did, after several attempts, he lied to your face and in the end that ass had the decency to say he did it all out of love for you. Pfff...yeah...sure...whatever you say dude... I would have believed some of it, had he not made that face when he met the bitch princess but honey, you telling me he never felt anything for her is so not going to fly with me. Not to mention how he treated his mate. Even his own people wanted to punch him for it. Like what?!!! And Kate, you should have punched him harder. And left his ass. But since we all know then the story would be over, you could at least waited five more minutes before you forgave him. Honestly, so disappointing...

I remember reading the first book and loving it but this one was just a let down for me personally. I liked the action and since we got a lot of it that jujst might have been the saving grace for this story. I also liked some characters, like Raphael and the witches as well as Kate's friend from work that had a surprising little secret of her own. To be honest I skimmed the whole book and even dropped it almost at the end. I couldn't stand Shaye and her reason was a too weak one to excuse her behaviour towards a man who truly cared for her. I mean, I get you'd be ticked off when someone took you agains your will and threw you into a whole new, to you alien, word. But there has to be a line between push-pull play where it's still cute and interesting and between a time where it's just annoying as hell. The whole reason I didn't like this book was because of her childish behaviour. And the inner dialog, where one second she wants him and in the next she's all about finding excuses and making herself believe she hates and even loathes him. That really got on my nerves. I loved her, what seemed only, female friend and I was glad we got to see her story and her POV. She was way more mature and she's been through so much, I loved tha she found love. And boy, she'll have her hands full. ;) Beside that, I also liked Valerian and I could overlook his past, since we get his POV and see just how much he cares about that ungrateful child. His patience is made of steel. So there were some good moments but mostly I wished for more. I hope this won't be my last book from this author, since some books look quite promising....more

TheYou guys know I loved and I mean LOVED the first book. It's an amazing story with so much power. Everything fits and the natural order is spot on. The Others are the on top of the food chain and the humans mostly know their place. Also the plot and character development actually go somewhere. From the first book the stories that follow slowly lose their awesomness and the character development is nearly non-existent.
Now shall we get to this story? Yes, we shall. In this story, believe it or not, the humans, preferably Jesse and Monty's mom are the alpha females that basically makes them the big bosses. And where are the Others you ask? Well...they become dogs with a new master instead of being the proud and powerful wolves that we get to know in the first book. So it's safe to say that I've had it with this series and I'm definitely not reading another damn book, where the main characters start off strong and in the end become a pale version of themselves. No thank you! Oh, and if you're wondering about the romance between Meg and Simon, well, like with the rest of this story, you'd be disappointed. You only get a kiss and that's at the end of the book.
So, if you're the type that can get past all that, girl, go for it! But for me, this series is a flop. Not worth my time!
