From the reviews I knew that it wasn't going to be a bad story. The more I read, the more I actually liked it. It's fresh, it's adventurous and above all it has great PNR elements that I love. I will admit that some parts were dragged out a bit but nothing I couldn't live it. All in all, this is a book worth giving a try and I know I'll read the rest of the books in this series. I only hope Calli stays a strong character and doesn't turn into a mary sue. Fingers crossed. :)...more

I had problemI had high hopes for this story, since I know this author can write amazing books. But this time it felt like the whole book was rushed. I had problems with the timing, like when Cadence finds out that her whole life she has been lied to. She went from crying to immediately sassy and acted like that moment never happened. It was trippy to say the least and it made me feel like I missed something. I did like Damien a lot tho. He was dare I say perfect. Also the plot wasn't so bad, full of action and romance and we also get a scorching scene. So all in all, I liked it but was expecting more. I hope the next book will be a bit more put together. ...more

And I'm so glad I finally got the time to read it. This is such a sweet but not really story. It definitely leaves you at times emotional and makes you remember your loved ones. Especially Molly's background story made my heart clench a few times. Not that Romeo's story of abuse wasn't horrible and sad but Molly's just hit more home for me, personally. But it is all worth it at the end. I cannot wait to read Romeo's POV. I think it will add more to the story to know his thoughts and views on their journey. Just all in all a beautiful story of love and healing. ...more

Well that for sure was a fun, short read that left me wanting for more. That cliffhanger at the end, I tell ya, did not like it at all. Now all I want to know is what happens next. I've read more than thousand mangas and it never gets old. I love the artists style for this one and the story itself is not bad. It definitely keeps my attention. Although I find the heroine a bit naive, but overall not dull. Not to mention the hot new guy. I guess I will just have to wait for the next volume to find out what's next in the store for these two. ...more

When I saw the blurb I was really intrigued by the plot, since nowadays everything is so focused on social media and we forget more and more that just a couple of years ago we would still write letters and have a more personal connection to each other. I think that the author's approach to tell this story was unique and fresh, since she starts the story by basically showing the reader the letters between these two characters, which I enjoyed reading. But what happened next, and I don't know, if this is this authors debut book, was that the story abruptly changed course. One minute these two characters are writing these letters, having obviously never met in person before and the next they both fell in love with each other. That emotion came, at least to me, completely out of the blue. It went from zero to hundred in a flash. And that's why I think that the author could've spent more time building up the emotions and the story, so that when they did happened they would be believable. The same with the rest of the plot in the sense that the flow of the story could've been more controlled and not cut from one scene to the next. That being said, it's not a bad story and while I did enjoy reading about the characters journey, it's just not that greatly executed. I wished there could've been less day to day showing and more focus on the potential that this story had to show. So all in all, did I love the story? Not really but I would still recommend it to others since they might enjoy it more than me. For me this one was sadly just not my cut of tea. ...more

Oh man, I was really looking forward to this one but sadly yet another disappointing reverse harem novel... I wish to finally find a good one, where there's actually some action going on and the book is not being a YA rated one. So far the reverse harem books that I've read were beyond slow burn romance and with some I even gave up the wait for something to happen. With that being said, if the plot and the characters are awesome, I will read a couple of books in the series even without the hots going on but if the first book doesn't give me much of a feel then I'm just out. And the same happened with this story. The book just didn't grab my attention and the characters were only so-so for me. So that's why I stopped reading at 20% and just skimmed the rest. But if you like the blurb and even the first 10%, then keep on reading. Sadly this one just wasn't my cup of tea.

This book was quite all right and I liked it but I don't think I'm going to continue reading the rest of the series. Why? Well some parts of the plot were just too slow for me and I just wished more from her potential lovers. I adored Tye and Shade but Coal and River were just mean jerks that had their walls so high up that I do doubt Lera will ever be able to tear them down. Other than that I liked the plot for the most part, it's fresh and has a lot of potential. I also liked Lera's character. She was fun and brave when needed. I do wonder how she'll evolve in the next book. Maybe I'll read it but it for sure won't be right now. ...more

Wow, I marely made it through two chapters before I quit. I think that's even a record for me. This book was so not what I expected. From the blurb and the great reviews I was really looking forward to reading it but boy oh boy was this a disappintment. The heroine was just so childish and not even strong. And what's with the action in the first chapter, are you for real? Where's the build up? I felt like I was thrown into cold water and was then left to drown. Safe to say this book didn't make any sense to me at all, so I thankfully stopped myself from going deeper into that rabbit hole.

I didWhen I saw the cover and then read the blurb I thought "OK, it's not everyday that you get to read a book like this one" and so I gave it a try. I didn't really know what to expect but the story was more "normal" than what I thought it would be, with all the kraken creatures and the new world. I mean, I did wonder how they would have intimacy but it turned out pretty all right, well at least for the situation they were in. I don't know, it didn't weird me out or anything. So that's a good sign, right? As far as the plot, it did get slightly boring at times and the ending felt a bit underwhelmind, at least to me. I just wanted more from the story and characters. Usually we get smut and OTT heroes with no drama what-so-ever. But in this story I think it was great to see some plot twists that at times made me feel mad and at the same time sad for all the main characters. It had more depth and made the story more interesting - not that I mind the usual fun and hot stories from this author. I was just in the right head space to read this story and that made me like it more than the other AR books. I wonder, if AR is thinking of making more stories with such plot twists because I think I'd really enjoy them. Afterall, who doesn't from time to time want to read a controversial storyline. ...more

That was the first series tMan, it's been awhile since I last read one of Cassandra Clare's books. I feel in love with her Mortal Instruments series. That was the first series that I've read from her and while I was waiting for the last book in that series I decided to buy all three books from Infernal Devices Trilogy, which is also a prequel series to the Mortal Instruments series. I was convinced that I would love each book and to be honest, so far I am. Thankfully, might I add, since lately I find it hard to find really good fantasy books that move you. And Clockwork Angel is now one of my new favourites. What I find so great about Cassandra Clare's writing style is that I, as a reader, can really envision the places this book is taking place in. I can connect with the plot and the characters so easily, that in the end it's truly a pleasure reading one of her books. And while the Mortal Instruments take place in the present time, this series is taking place in the 19th century. I'm not much into histirical type of books but I did enjoy that concept in this series. And as for the plot in this book, I liked it. There were some plot twists that I didn't see coming, not by a long shot, but that's what makes it a good story. The same can be said about the characters. You could say that liked the majority of them. My favourite ones of course being the main characters but I also liked the rest of the team. Not so much Jess and Tessa's brother and the vampires, since their personalities were just not what I would like to see in a friend. But what surprised me the most is that we get to see more of Magnus Bane and how he lived in this time, before he met Alec. I liked his character right of the bat and this book just proves that my intuition is spot on.
All in all, this is a great book and a nice start of the series.

To be honest, I can see why so many people liked this story, me included. It's fresh and things never get boring. Also, while I'm not a love triangle fan, I did enjoy the romance in this book. Granted, it's not the greatest love story of all time but it's cute enough for me to like it. I liked Mal as well as the Darkling. There were times when I liked the Darkling more than Mal, until the ending that is. All those plot twists made me second guess the characters personality and if they really aren't what they seem. The author did great work with all main characters and while it took me more time to warm up to Alina by the end of the story I grew to like her. At the beginning I didn't like how weak and cynical she was, since that could've saved her so much grief and heartbreak but at the same time as the story progressed I could see her grow into a stronger person. I also liked Genya's character. Despite the cultural differences, she didn't let others bring her down. There were things she could've done differently but she's only human, so I didn't expect her to be a saint. As for the other characters, well, I wasn't really a fan of. Too much pretence and snobbiness for my taste. What I also liked and what I was quite surprised by is the ending. The story ends on a cliffhanger and the way it ended makes it a great setup for the next book, which I will definitely reading soon. ...more

You kinda know the base of the story but there's always an exciting element to a newly told story. And since this book is a bit longer than most re-tellings I thought I was in for a great read. And I did like the story until the 60% mark. Then things just became a bit anticlimatic for me. In the beginning the author included great details and I could connect to the characters. But nearing the end of the story I lost that connection, since it felt like the author rushed the ending and the emotional state of the characters. Especially about Spencer near the end of the story. I just missed more details. More thoughts on why and how Ruby started to see the beast in a new light, since she wasn't exactly fan of his and his actions.I think that would've made it more believable to me. Also, I just couldn't really warm up to Ruby's character. At times she really was behaving like a brat and it sure made me dislike her even more. Thankfully the same can't be said about Lincoln. I really liked his character. He was scarred by life and my heart just broke for him. I'm glad he got his happiness, he really deserved it. There was not enough explanation and logical thread to the story and the characters actions. Not to mention the epilogue. It felt like a was reading a biography without a hint of emotion. They were just stated facts, one after another and it left me with an unpleasant feeling. Not what you'd expect from a romantic book ending. I just wished for a smoother ride, that's all. That being said, the story's not bad but it's also not one that wowed me... ...more

Well, that was quite the read. And to be honest, I don't usually read a lot of YA books with plots such as this one, but for some reason I did enjoy this book. Maybe it was the fantasy element, which to be honest surprised me as I at first did not think it could fit into this story. But in the end it was the perfect fit. It made the story more interesting and did explain some things that I was wondering about at the beginning of the story. And maybe it was the whole set up and the characters of the story that sold me on this book. I don't know but I am sure of one thing and that is to read the second book. This one does end on a cliffhanger and not a pretty one at that. Not giving away any spoilers but our main characters do make huge sacrifices, or so it at least seems, for the ones they love and wish to protect. I'm not sure what will happend in the second book but I'm curious to find out how the whole family drama will play out. As it is now, it's really intense. Not to mention what will happen on the throne. Royalty always has had many enemies around them and usually it's the closest to them that in the end bring them the most harm and heartbreak. Makes me glad we live in a world where those times, for the most part, are gone. Democracy definitely has it's good parts compared to royalty, at least in that aspect. No harem of women that are after your throat, not that the character in this book didn't deserve it, just saying... Anyway, as already said, I did like the story and would recommend it to others for sure. ...more
