Nalini is an exceptional writer I mean that is a fact. The continuous storyline that runs now 23/24 books deep? that shit is unmatched at a level I really haven't read before and I've read a lot of books.
Primal Mirror is the eighth addition of Nalini's Trinity series which is and extension of the OG Psy-Changeling series. Baby this gets deep real quick in the thick of things.
We finally get Remi our delightful Alpha of Rainfire pack who made his true debut in Aden's story. This is a younger alpha with a newer small pack to protect and all the heart and soul I didn't realise on body could contain. A man so dedicated and loyal to those he loves, he would do anything to protect them. He is the perfect hero. He doesn't play stupid here. He takes things slow but the thing about Remi and his big heart is he cannot help but protect those who need it. I mean we learned that when he let two of the deadliest Arrows into his home. Auden just didn't know she stole his heart from the beginning.
Auden is the elusive child of two councillors. Two very shitty ones at that being Henry and Shoshanna. Poor girl right. Right. She didn't stand a chance and you learn that very quickly. Auden is broken in ways that are fixable. She is two in one. Moments of clarity vs periods of unknown. My girl is a hot mess express and I truly felt for her. Not only because personally she had been though the mill but also she was up against prejudice because hello .. her parents created a dynasty of monsters and left her to deal with the chaos of those ghosts. Under that.. she has so much to give and getting to know Auden on a level no one did was a beautiful disaster I was here for.
Auden and Remi's relationship was never going to be as sexually driven, tension filled or playful as many of our much loved favourites. There are so many reasons for that, that I wont go into but what I will say is that Nalini did these characters justice in their journey with staying true to them and their situation. This is a slow burn with so many factors but lord did I apricate those little moments of vulnerability and exploration between them. The gentle touches. The build of trust.. They truly blossomed into something so special over time even despite the crazy they were drowning in.
This journey of course continues with the downfall of silence and the fall out of the Psy web crashing around them. We get visits from very much loved characters like Caleb, Aden, Zaira and our travelling little alpha Kit who's no so little now. We get more details of the web and innerworkings of the destruction left from a 100 years of damage. we get more on the scarabs and hints of what is to come in the future. We also get some very interesting world developments which I was not expecting but equally grateful and curious about.
Nalini really surpasses herself here and it never fails to amaze me how she keeps this going and still makes things relevant and fresh. I was as invested today as I was back in 2013 when I first read the OG's. I'm even more excited in fact to see where she could take this next. The world and character development is just exceptional.
I wouldn't be me if I didn't mention Blacksea because the little cameos had me craving more. I know everyone has their favs they want more of obviously a main being Pax because SAME!!!!! I need and want his story. But also Blacksea... I want them all.
Anywho.. Enough of my mumbles for now. I just finished and my brain is overloaded with all the feels. I may come back and make this make more sense later. Just know this is as always fabulous. ...more

Like since back in 2014. I know she can write epically styled fearless heroines and alpha hot guys like nobody's business. But I have to admit this is my first read of this series. That's totally a me problem though because I got lost under a huge Tbr pile, BUT I have seen the light and am definitely going to back my arse up and get onto reading 1,2&3.
That being said.. Of course there is a few blank spots in this story that are missing for me regarding the past. Again, a me problem not a this books problem. I actually did not have a issue following the story at all even with it being the 4th book in the series and not having a back story because Anne gave me everything I needed to understand what was happening in the now of this book.
Sophie is a fucking queen. What a heroine. Honestly I admire her strength even in times of weakness. She had tremendous characters with so many layers to her fiesty personality that there was never a time I was bored of her. I feel like she caught the shit stick of luck and pushed through it for as long as she could until she just couldn't anymore. However even in those low moments she still never shoved the blame elsewhere. I loved her a lot!.
Conall, bless his soul was just the sweetest to Sophie. I really admired his loyalty to her even in the most dysfunctional of circumstances. His strength and character was true top form. I loved that even though he was this big badass wolf king he wasn't afraid of being vulnerable to her. He didn't have the greatest of times through this book or in the past but somehow he still moved forward and stood tall. I love him a lot but even more so, for her.
Isla. I mean I couldn't not mention her could I?. I love when a book has strong side characters because I feel like it gives the book more substance and something extra for the reader to grab onto. In this case Isla obviously isn't new to most but to me she was positively a delight. Her outright outrageous lethal mouth had me in tears of laughter to often. She had me sold the minute Sophie found that phone and I just knew she was going to steal my soul. Conall nailed it when he said Isla is Sophie's mate. Even just from this book you feel that raw burning connection between them. That unmistakable bond that even the most dysfunctional happenings can't break. It's a thing of magic. That friendship is something special.
Their journey most definitely isn't your typical romance. Not even by PNR standards. Multiple POV's with a tone of crazy things all happening at once honestly you forget about the romance for a second. The connection between Sophie and conall is unmistakable. It's fucking lethal actually. That raw palpable chemistry literally exploded anytime they were near eachother. Considering how hotheaded they both are they also surprisingly level eachother out. It's not all cutesy hearts and flowers. It brutal, raw and at times heart wrenchingly painful for all involved. There were times my jaw just dropped because I really didn't expect what happened to happened. Anne masterfully spins their tale seamlessly making their journey unpredictable but impactful. I was so fucking invested in it all I gave myself a headache from thinking to hard. I laughed ALOT!. So much sarcasm i can't even with the witt. I gasped in shock, prayed for sanity and shouted at my kindle like a crazy lady. It was a journey. But what a fucking ride it was.
Obviously this is a interconnected series so there are questions left unanswered and lots of exciting and equally nerve wracking future possibilities. I'm satisfied with how things ended but I'm also beyond excited to see where the next story will take me on this crazy journey.

There is so much to say and yet I don't want to because I don't want to spoil anything.
The epic tale of Finley and Nyfain reached a climatic ending iThere is so much to say and yet I don't want to because I don't want to spoil anything.
The epic tale of Finley and Nyfain reached a climatic ending in book three and what a journey to that it was.
Finley is loyal to a fault. My girl put herself through literal hell to protect the man she loves and the kingdom he protects and honours. She was steadfast in her determination to protect him from all costs. Even from himself. She stayed true to who she was not taking the easy way out and showing everything her worth.
Nyfain oh my man had it rough in this one. Enduring the love of his life suffering was the last straw. Until the end of the book that is.
This book took us on a rollercoaster of revelations whilst dragging us along for the outrageous, hilarious and downright dysfunctional. The characters are truly the gift that kept giving here and i was so curious about so many of them and what laid in their fate.
I loved how the plot took a few interesting turns making what was already a tricky story even more so. I really enjoyed the pace of the journey and the multiple POVs.
The ending wasn't a crazy surprise but one nonetheless. I and very intrigued to see how the author spins this for Nyfain and Finley in the last book.
Honestly I loved this. I felt like it gave me everything I needed and then some and now I find myself ready for their conclusion because if anyone deserves a HEA it's this pair.
Now on to the last story.. after ill round off my thoughts about the whole series. I'm to in my head about whats happened thus far to have clear thoughts....more

I love Finley. She's crazy but special. NyfainA continuation of book one leads us here and my friends it gets more unhinged if that is even possible.
I love Finley. She's crazy but special. Nyfain is delicious. Wounded but still delightful, even in his rages.
This world is absolutely bonkers with so much to unravel. So I'm going to keep this one short and sweet.
Nyfain and Finley's relationship is complicated to say the least. There is so much tension. So much chemistry. A whole lot of mixed emotions and for lack of better words .. drama. Then you add in the crazy side characters, a demon king and dungeons and well... it gets messy.
K F Breene has a way with building these worlds and this is certainly no different. I was so invested in the world, in the new discoveries and the many secrets and lies that are woven withing. Then we move on to the characters that are ever evolving and it truly had me locked in.
This is book two in the series and cannot be read as a standalone. Book two gave me everything I needed and despite it being a little more lengthy.. it didn't feel drawn out. Everything felt like it had it's place and was purposeful. I felt everything and was completely invested.
Did I mention how much I laughed?... Honestly my ribs hurt.
It's not often I read twists of fairy tails but I do know I love this authors writing. Her characters are something else.
Finley is a great character. It's not often I read twists of fairy tails but I do know I love this authors writing. Her characters are something else.
Finley is a great character. I will say with certainty that she is a character you will either love or hate. I genuinely don't think there is an in-between. She's blunt abrasive and rubs people like sand paper. She reacts with passion and of course that is not always the best way. but she is unapologetically herself and that is something I will always favour in characters.
Nyfin is of course our tortured hero with the sad boy complex. I mean it's not without reason but non the less he gives emotional whiplash through out fighting his feelings for, his anger at the world and his need to protect his kingdom. I was here for it.
Book one is UNHINGED to say the least. We have a Hadriel our shame filled mediocre butler. He is just something else. Then we have Leala our little pain seeking loves to be punished lady's maid. The two together ... hysterical. I cannot.
K F Breene knows how to right a story, build a layered world and develop complex characters. She had me hook line a sinker not knowing where it was all going but fully invested nonetheless. I laughed so hard I was crying. I sat in shook more times than I care to count truly flabbergasted at the antics. I swooned, I craved, I got frustrated and celebrated the wins. It was a roller-coaster but so worth the ride.
If you're looking for series this may not be for you.. The sarcasm is potent and the crazy high. But its a world I became fully immersed in and truly I was so excited to read what came next....more

Quinley and Isaiah are an odd couple and I mean it in the best sense because it works for them so naturally it was like they were never not mates. Obviously they did not go the conventional way about mating but it did not feel awkward or transactional at all despite is being an arranged mating.
Quinley is a submissive shifter but she isn't weak with no mind for her own thoughts. She can hold her own, stands her ground and gets her point across when needed. She's sneaky and cunning. She is also patient, kind and calm which is why all of the pride want to surround her all of the time. I really enjoyed her. She brought something different and it was cool to see how a submissive could blend into that larger than life pride. She did more than that, she held her own.
Isaiah is dominant but not super in your face about it. I liked his quiet and loved it for Quinley. I loved how he was very direct and upfront keeping good communication where most males definitely would not have been. He was protective and sweet and I really liked seeing that more vulnerable side to him.
The journey had it's hiccups but for the most part was pretty calm which fitted the main characters. I really loved getting to hear and see old much loved faces and I especially loved how they welcomed Quin in without any drama. Except Alex of course because he never looses. I was here for the laughter, the crazy, the surprises and the sweet. It was an easy read, for me Suzanne's books always are. I just cannot believe we're on book 6 and now have to wait a whole year for book 7. crazy but i will because they're the best....more
I should probably start with the fact that I have already read all of Aran's stories. So I'm coming back to write this afOkay where do I start here..
I should probably start with the fact that I have already read all of Aran's stories. So I'm coming back to write this after the fact. Be patient with me whilst I try not to jumble everything up.
I think going in I already knew this would be a slower more painful burn. I did not anticipate just how slow. That being said it fit the characters and how their journey evolved.
John - The new bestie Aka the support system for Aran whilst Sadie can't be there. I loves him.
Orion - Creepy stalker. 100% the one playing in sheepskin whilst actually being a wolf. Cant speak (sort of). Corvus - Control freak dominant temper tantrum bully boy. The face leader. Lights on fire anytime. Scorpius - sadistic pain lover with creep stalker vibes with no shame. Also blind.
This one is a bitter pill to swallow because there were so many parts to every character that I just didn't like but I also understood the honesty for what it was. These characters are all painfully scarred and not in the least in their right minds for one reason or another. When I say it like that, it looks like I didn't like the story however that is not the case. I just need to be honest in the fact this book is tough and the contents are not for the faint of heart. It has severe abuse, torture, teasing and tension. It's a lethal combination. Especially given that this is book one of the three parts to Aran's journey and let me tell you in gets worse before better.
Saying that I did love this journey. I love Aran and just how broken she is and the fact she doesn't hide it. There are so many parts to her that you barely scrape in this book but this is the foundation of her and what becomes her rebirth. And baby, it is painful.
the tension and chemistry is insane and I really do love this weird world and all the possibilities it comes with.
Side note I under stand why Demetre and the boys where hinted at it the last book however I do feel like the narrative that is pushed is very wrong to the reality of the situation and it felt like a filler of sorts.
This is why I will forever go back to older series. This is why I love reading.

Tayla.. Oh poor girl. lets just say she wakes up and life will never look the same again. Imagine waking and finding your whole life to be a lie. Dear lord it's a wonder she didn't stroke out. Tayla is strong, she's fiesty and exactly the kind of woman Eidolon needed. Even if it was not pretty at first.
Eidolon is not having the best of times. He keeps track of and controls his brothers keeping them in line. The very last thing he needed was to mate to a demon who did not know she was a demon. He really could of done without the drama. He's the steady one. The reliable upstanding one. Well until it all goes pear shaped that is.
I loved these two. They fought, bickered and sassed. They teased and taunted and honestly I was here for it all. The chemistry is intense. The relationship whilst very rocky developed into something very special and the world building was perfection.
ok so the mood reader in me totally loved this book because it fit what I needed in the moment. Could their of been a little more depth? I feel like thok so the mood reader in me totally loved this book because it fit what I needed in the moment. Could their of been a little more depth? I feel like there could have been but in saying that it worked.
Sadie is just unfortunate. The poor girl just could not catch a break and just when you thing she'd about to something nasty happens again. It really was unfortunate for her because aside from her verbal splunders and random out bursts.. She got hit from all sides and it was painful to read at times. I also feel like she's super relatable. The sarcasm to hide the pain. The acceptance of crappy behaviour thrown at her. The lack of confidence and self esteem. Sadie is a piece of every girl I know in one way or another.
Jax is the sweet daddy guy. Cobra is the tortured broken Ahole. Ascher is the young stud with all the arrogance.
now I had to check myself because I've come back to write these reviews after reading all three and i don't want to slip up. Of course I couldn't write them as I went along.. that would have been to easy.
Anyways back to the men..
Each one is uniquely different therefore the dynamics with each man are not even remotely alike. Hilariously though Jax and Cobra are also in a situationship of sorts and have been long before Sadie came along. So as you can imagine.. it messy with a capital M. But I honestly was here for it.
I liked the world development and the plot progression. Even when I didn't like the characters at times they still made me feel all the feels. Those who don't mind a slow burn with angst and some real fisty fights between lovers.. this ones for you. Honestly it hit the spot for me today...more

This can be read as a standalone but obviously it's book two in a series. Aside from the fact I'm anal about reading in chronological order, there are other characters in this book that played a part in Shiloh getting to this point in life and I feel like that background is important, at least for me so that i can understand her and the choices that were made for the other characters.
Shiloh is independent, sweet and unafraid to stand for herself. I really loved that she wasn't the kind of character that judged based of her emotions in a situation that obviously was out of their control. She was easy to like because she was fair.
Orson was very unexpected. He wasn't the growly alpha I expected. He wasn't social, he had no clue how to read the room or act appropriately around people. Especially strangers. I loved him for this though. He was quirky, very introverted and super cute. He was the first to say sorry or try to fix what he thought he'd broken. Honestly he was just a sweet all rounder.
There was a lot of back and forth between them at first because Shiloh had a bad taste in her mouth from Orson barging in and he just didn't know where he stood with her and her attitude toward him or why he felt all the feelings for this perfect stranger. It was a hot mess of frustration but that soon moved on to some good old slow burn tension and eventually them getting their heads out of their arse long enough to realise what they meant to each other.
This was a solid read for me. I loved the unique twist on shifters and the many different paranormal elements that were woven through the story. Shiloh and Orson had a great deal of character development along side the world building and the plot progression and I feel like it was done very well in a way that nothing felt missed or out of place. I also really enjoyed the side characters, I feel like they slid in perfectly only adding to the story.
This was a first for me from this author but it will not be the last. I need to go back and read book one because honestly it's driving me insane that it was read out of order and my ocd ass cannot cope.
I was so freaking excited to get my grubby greedy hands on Bailey and Deke's book. We all know I'm a bias bitch when it comes to Suzanne Wright. ThereI was so freaking excited to get my grubby greedy hands on Bailey and Deke's book. We all know I'm a bias bitch when it comes to Suzanne Wright. There isn't a book of hers that I haven't read or haven't loved. That's just the facts.
I don't know what I expected of Their story but I can tell you this wasn't it. I can't explain why It just wasn't what I expected. The character were but not the story. I loved it all the same though.
Bailey is exactly what I expected her to be. She wears unbothered not interested will wind you till you break personality like a second skin. She is so good at pushing people to see if they'll actually stick. A test if you will. Not even a little to her surprise very few people do stick. Or at least manage to get close. Bailey is selective about those she's vulnerable with and even then it's rare. She, of course, is far more than she seems. Cunning, smart, quick on her feet and ALWAYS underestimated. ALWAYS. I kind of thought she'd be like Khloe but she's a little less in your face and more selective on who gets her crazy. She amused me with her dry wit and just general unbotheredness. Also.. she is a loyal queen.
Deke is short, stubborn and a little judgemental with a whole lot of alpha. It was a shock to learn his whole family are submissive and he was the only dominant in his house growing up. It also explained so much about his personality and why he went about his life almost cutting with how straight up blunt and honest he was. It made a lot of things make sense. It also added another layer to him and all he was. He was never going to be the super sweet attentive kind of guy. I liken him more to Alex in the sense. I also loved that his straight complemented Bailey and her evasiveness. He was there when it mattered and said what he meant and meant what he said. He played her like a fiddle in the best ways and was also a total smoke show. I was here for it.
I loved how their story developed from the frenemies vibe to an arrangement of convenience, be that a begrudged arrangement at first. It was funny to watch them fight the pull but give in to temptation. The chemistry was crazy and the way their connection developed into something more little by little as both their guards slowly reseeded by, was something special. I mean it wasn't all great. There was a lot of unexpected moments.. Deke's vow being one that threw me for the loop but I do love how that developed and was resolved.
Of course this would not be a Suzanne book without the mention of the many epic side characters. They are larger than life and always have me laughing so freaking hard. They just add so much to the story in the best ways. I always want more, I'm always curious as to where some characters stories will go and of course It's always a pleasure to see old faces and get teased by the what's to come. I'm so excited for the next story .. For this arranged mating and how that will work out.
BUT .. I have to be honest what me HOOKED was the mention of Kye and where his story could possibly go. He's 21 now! how the fuck did that happen and when so we get him!!!!. SO EXCITED!!.
Anywho.. This was a blast. I love the way Suzanne writes her characters and their story. I always laugh hard, get lost in the story and feel all the good feel. This of course, was no different. ...more

I'm to invested in the actual book to care for anything afterward which is why reviews slip through the cracks occasionally. It's also why my goodreads in not a true depiction of how many books I've read... because I forget to review the damn things.
I love Alex and Bree so hard it's actually difficult for me to put into words.
Alex is a no fucks given, doesn't care for anyone, Not about to please anyone marches to the beat of his own damn drum kind of guy. His sexy arrogance and couldn't care energy FEEDS MY SOUL.
Bree is strong, unapologetically herself and just all around a kick ass heroine. She doesn't feel the need to show off or try to be something she isn't. She goes with the flo, underplays her strength and just serves me bad ass female vibes all round.
Their story is a mix of forbidden temptations and undeniable chemistry that they just could not deny. It was hot, hilarious and had its moments of what the fuck. Suzanne always serves with the depthy characters, the hilarious, the unexpected and the downright outrages.
Their book gives me everything and I fucking loved it. I'll likely come back at some point to write a actual review. ...more

I'm a straight up pnr whorebag. Pnr is what made me love Ok this is probably my favourite book's ever from this author and I've read them all, bar 1.
I'm a straight up pnr whorebag. Pnr is what made me love reading. It was the first books I ever did read and to this day are my favourite. Period. And let me just say I am a fussy bitch with pnr because it is my favourite and its hard to live up to the expectations of that on times.
But this took me back to what it was like when I first picked up a pnr book. Not because they are alike, but, Because the feeling I had when reading them felt the same. That feeling of the magical unknown. The excitment. The curiosity. The feeling of being able to imagine the crazy world as if it were right in front of your eyes. It's why I love pnr.
Amara is a human with a big secret. I mean is she a human ... What is the secret. There is ALOT going on with her character. She's shy but she had this fierce side that wills her to protect. Even when the people she protects don't always deserve it. She has a strength that shines through her shy personality, it makes you want to look further below the surface to see what lurks below. I love that she was loyal to a fault. She underrated herself despite being freaking fantastic and that she had to capacity to forgive even when I damn sure would of held a grudge a whole book longer. She was sweet and loving but also a certified badass when necessary. Oh and her crazy?.... That was epic.
Levi is our sweet loving flirtatious Lion. He has growl and claws but honestly he was the soft heart of the bunch. The caretaker, laugh maker orgasm giving extraordinaire. His larger than life personality floated through the pages like a honest to god loving caress. Reading Levi was like having a hug, all warm sweet and protective.
Silas is our grump dragon. The silent observer with smoke puffs seeping out at his frustrations. He was definingly the quiet one of the bunch but don't mistake that for him being more submissive of unwilling. He had layers you had to peal back but once you got to him he made you feel all the good feels. He just wasn't as in your face about it as Levi or as outwardly aggressive as Kincaid. But lord this was a power on his own with his greedy possessiveness and dirty shenanigans.
Then we come to Kincaid. The arrogant angry vampire of this merry foursome. The leader. The one who had a chip on his shoulder a mile wide and a real short sense of patience. Kincaid is easily the hardest one to love simply based off of the fact he is an actual dickhead head for a hot minute. But like Silas under his protective behaviour and his guards.. there truly is a man made of a thousand sins and worth every single one of them. Kincaid had been through and done some shit that does explain his behaviour and I mean I do love myself an antihero.
These four have quite the rollercoaster of a journey. It's a slow burn with each character having their own moment of realisation and again a different moment of surrender to their inevitable coupling. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of them fighting their attractions all the whilst trying to figure out what the heck was going on with their shy but feisty maid who did more than any of them every expected. I laughed my ass of at some of their antics. They all had their own journey alongside the one the had together. It was a real treat. I lived for the bickering and the banter. The chemistry is SPICY. The connection super sweet and as it grows it continued to get better.
To wrap this up I freaking loved it. I laughed, I ranted and raved and I swooned and the dirty nasty shenanigans they got up to. It was wholesome as fuck. I loved the world building and plot progression. I freaking adored the characters and their journey to their HEA. As a whole it was a freaking rollercoaster I loved the shit out of. It just made me happy.
I read to escape reality and this done exactly that and then some for me. I can't wait to see what comes next.
Also Gus. I mean .. Where so I find a grumpy crazy out bat dragon?. I want one....more

And I am here for it.
I mean. NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY NOT A THING will or could touple Hawk and Kaleb for me. With Judd being a third and Lucas tagging behind that. HOWEVER... I'm taking the high rode and this is a separate entity in my mind so with that being said...
Valentin is different. A tall giant glass of Russian bear that will tingle all your senses. He is positively delicious and everything I want in a Alpha. Over protective, broody, hella dramatic in the most hilarious ways and completely vulnerable and sweet to his chosen one. Perfect. Just perfect.
I love me a hard woman. They don't get any harder than the ice cold Psy women. Especially Silver. But I feel like when they are written correctly, you reap the rewards with these depthy characters with so much to give. Silver was great not only because the build up to her opening herself to emotion was paced perfectly. But also because who she was under silence is a worthy character. One with depth and substance and one that I loved hard.
This next stage of these characters is definitely shaping up to be an interesting one. I adore all the characters and the dynamics between them all. I'm in awe of Nalini's ability to write these crazy detailed stories with huge personalities and massive continuous plots whilst also adding new things to the picture, never fails to amaze me.
Now onto Bo's story... I just need to know what's happening with him!!!. Especially given who his lady is!....more
Get ready for my over dramatic shenanigans. This is about to be a bumpy ride.
When I tell you I was so ready for Aspen and Camdens story frankly I was Get ready for my over dramatic shenanigans. This is about to be a bumpy ride.
When I tell you I was so ready for Aspen and Camdens story frankly I was desperate. That's the thing when you find an author who just kills it evertime and really hits every love button you have in books.
STRONG HEROINE ALPHA HERO FRIENDS TO LOVERS FORBIDDEN FANTASY ROUGH PLAY PNR - SHIFTERS
Hits every button and then some for me.
Aspen is this aloof no fucks given heroine with all the sass and strength. She doesn't care to pretend just to be polite. She doesn't play childish games and she doesn't really give a fuck about what others think.
Camden is the baby of Knox, Madden and a smidge of Alex. A fucking lethal concoction. He's about as emotional as a rock unless it concerns HIS Aspen. He doesn't even try to blend in now that he doesn't have to. He feels but not like others and because of that he doesn't react like others.
Both of them fight the forbidden temptation of eachother. I mean they try real hard to not have those sinful lusty thoughts but I mean common.. they are inevitable. It was already going to happen regardless of it they were ready or not. Me... bitch I buckled myself in and rode out the sunami that was the build up. I swear you could feel the tension like a whip lashing. It wasn't something sweet and swoony. It was dark and suffocating and quite frankly I feared for them at points because I was sure they were about to self combust from the need.
There really is something special about friend to lovers romance. Especially when it's done right without the usual dramatic bullshit that follows. The perks of these two characters being who they are and their relationship being what is was.. the transition was easy. There was fear, of course. But not the damaging kind. Just the normal not wanting to loose one another kind. Even that didn't stop them though. They already had a solid connection and understanding of eachother. They didn't have to play the cat and mouse game because they could read one another as well as they knew their own selves. Their transition only served to make them feel more, love harder and finally fuck the burning tensions away instead of playing pretend.
There is ALOT of unexpected happenings in their journey with other characters and It surprised me more than once. I was a little sad at one character, although he pissed me off I feel like his journey was really sad. I loved all the old faces popping in adding more personality to the pages and serving us up with some prime entertainment!. I'm curious about where Bailey's story will lead with her alpha guy and their strange dynamic... if they don't kill eachother first. I'm also excited to see where she takes Lukes story. I feel like his Lady got big balls to take on that monster thay hides I'm the shadows.
As a whole Aspen and Camden had me locked in from day one. They story is the one they deserve and I'm so fucking happy with how it turned out. It was a little rollercoaster and it definitely lived up to all the anticipation.
I'll be back to fix, correct and add to this review when I'm not so highly strung from reading it....more
Just like I predicted with book one... book two hit it out of the park. Book one always lays the foundation but book two packs the heat. It also helpsJust like I predicted with book one... book two hit it out of the park. Book one always lays the foundation but book two packs the heat. It also helps that these characters are my favourite kind. The kind that are a whole lot of dysfunctional with so much crazy and all the laughs.
Ana is a strong take no shit, can fight with the best of them woman. She is hilarious and doesn't try to be anything but herself. I freaking loved that she gave better than she got and brought her beast down a peg or 20. She gave me snark and woman power by the boat load.
A.D is a cocky self assured dragon who normally gets his way. He wasn't expecting a tiny beast of a female to wreck havoc in his world. Tiny toes taking charge. I adored him. He was like a puppy. All sweet with a side of naughty and smidge of sad when he wasn't getting his way.
These two cracked me up. They crazy they came out with had my stomach hurting I was laughing so hard. They just bounced of eachother. The chemistry is explosive, the growth of their relationship is a thing of beauty. I lived for the banter and the bickering. I loved the moment of vulnerability they had with one another. I feel like they were eachothers safe place and even though it all happened fast... nothing felt rushed. It was like they were always them.
These two pocket munchers made my heart happy. Their journey is filled with so much laughter, a good dose of sweet and a few surprises just to keep thing interesting.
I can't forsee anything beating my love for Peanut butter and Tiny toes.
After being emotionally traumatised by the epically huge CLIFFHANGER in book one I do not know what possessed me to jump straight intoI did it again.
After being emotionally traumatised by the epically huge CLIFFHANGER in book one I do not know what possessed me to jump straight into book two without checking if there was a damn CLIFFY. This was without a doubt a bigger F UP than book one because book 3 isn't out until January and now I'm distraught.
I am not OK.
Ayla and Kadens journey kicks back off where book one left us. Flabbergasted with my jaw swinging along the floor is a pretty accurate visual.
OK I was fuming at the situations Ayla found herself in. She just does not catch a damn break that woman.
I found myself increasingly frustrated by Kaden and his Alpha antics. The constant tests, the unfair non sharing bull. Lordy he was testing me. But I get it. His past... the many betrayals before.. truly I get it. Doesn't excuse his actions but it does explain them to a degree and I also felt in him doing that it made Ayla stronger in herself. She stood up against them all and proved time and time again who she was. Her character really shone through in this story showing her at her best in strength and loyalty and really growing her character in the best ways.
These two have crazy chemistry that left me lusty and frustrated. It was palpable. Undeniable and I definitely seen where it was going with them before it was even spoken. It just made more sense. HOWEVER.... there was a few WTAF moments I didn't see coming. Not even a little. And I loved that. Their journey is so unpredictable with so many possibilities that you cannot see where its going.
The plot is forever evolving and I'm so interested to where it goes next with all the different subplots playing into effect. There is so much going on here and of course many unanswered questions but that's typical due to it being a trilogy(I'm assuming). I'm intrigued to see where she takes it next. Especially given that ending. I know for sure there will be a few more jaw dropping surprises along the way.
Oh and the characters of it all.. so many faces I'm interested in knowing more about. I really enjoyed seeing more of the pack dynamics and the characters coming out of their shells.
I'm honestly gutted that I have to wait two months for book three. I'm emotionally invested in their journey and I really cannot wait to see where Ayla journey is going. There is so many questions left to answer. But book two did not disappoint!!!. It brought action, suspense, humor and so much steam. I felt all the feels and I was so consumed in this journey!!.
One thing to know about me is that I'm emotionally incapable of dealing with cliffhangers. So..... this book poppeI messed up.
Gurllllll. I messed up.
One thing to know about me is that I'm emotionally incapable of dealing with cliffhangers. So..... this book popped up on my kindle recs and I just jumped in. Normally I check but I didn't and lordy did I nearly have a heart attack 3/4 of the way through apon realising that this story could not be wrapped up by the end. Which only meant one thing!!!! CLIFFHANGER.
GASPS ALL AROUND.
This truly was a golden find for me. PNR meets rejected mates. With so much story and character development. All the good stuff. With a unique twist on pack history.
Ayla is the daughter of the Cancer packs alpha. Despite what you may think in terms of her being high up in pack status , the reality could not be any more different. She's the half breed. The pack mutt. An unwanted mistake the alpha could not throw away in fear of how it would look on him. So it's safe to say her life was hard. Harder than hard infact because that poor girl didn't really know much love. Didn't have the comforts of pack support and most definitely was not treated even fairly. She is a survivor. Inspite of everything she still had fight and knew her worth. I loved her character. I feel like she was easily relatable and full of potential for growth. I especially loved that she always got back up and fought for what she believed, despite being terrified.
Kaden is a mysterious wonder. His pack is shunned and he is all but a ghost story to most. Except he's not. He's an alpha in his own right and boy does he have all the traits to go with the title. Bossy, arrogant, broody and all kind of dangerous. Did I mention hot?.. like seriously the man is a jug of water in a drought. His character is darker and more closed off so naturally getting to know him was harder, especially so because we don't get his POV. But I must admit the author did a great job of giving us enough that I still felt like I knew him.
Their story is this crazy suspenseful mysterious journey of the unknown. Every twist and turn took me by surprise and every emotion was palpable through the pages. I loved the tension between Ayla and Kaden it felt like they were two magnets being pulled together even when they tried hard to deny the pull. They had this hilarious habit of bickering whenever they were together because they pushed eachothers buttons but it only served to create more tension a solidify their connection. It was all kinds of fascinating and frustrating.
Now obviously this is a trilogy so book one is essentially the foundation of their journey and I feel like the author did a great job of introducing us to the characters, giving us just enough information on the past and the present without spoiling the plot for the future. The unique concept of the packs and their dynamics was enough to grip my attention but the characters for sure kept the ball rolling with their larger than life personalities.
Despite being a cliffy hater I have to say she hit it perfectly and left us all traumatised and needing more in the best ways.
So to wrap it up... I love this book. I loved that it was a little different and I really enjoyed the characters. I am dying to know where this journey takes them and what surprises that come up along the way. I know for certain it's going to be a bumpy ride....more
Ooooooh. I do love when authors get creative and mix up the norm by pairing two different species together.
Nikola, a badass Marshal and older vampireOoooooh. I do love when authors get creative and mix up the norm by pairing two different species together.
Nikola, a badass Marshal and older vampire is a fierce heroine. She's strong independent and doesn't allow any man to have a say in her life. I loved her character. She's all hard and snarky on the outside with a sweet middle for those she cares for. She has an honourable sense of duty and the will to do what's right even in the scariest of circumstances.
Mace, a dominant bear shifter with a side of bossy and a whole lot of sweet. Ahh I love him and his lack of care when it came to showing Nikola how much he wanted her. He was sweet and kind and honest but he was also fiercely protective and if need be overbearing to protect her. I loved that.
These two are a whole vibe. I loved the instant chemistry and then the budding connection that builds through the pages. Both characters have obstacles to overcome whilst facing all kind of crazy but it made for an interesting journey to say the least. That need between them is palpable and I loved that they didn't fight it. It wasn't easy but it was definitely worth. Oh and that chemistry... FIRE.
Their journey has a little of everything. A little action and suspense, a smidge of mystery, a whole lot of bickering, banter and teasing and a heavy dose of tension for good measure. I enjoyed the pace of the journey and as far as characters go I loved both Mace and Nikola. I also enjoyed Caleb and his light teasing and his sister Rayne too. I'm interested to see if they get their own story!.
Great world building, wonderful characters and a story that kept me hooked. What's not to love....more

So I pre ordered this book months ago because I'm all aboard the I love Suzanne Wright train and have been since way back in the Here Be Sexiest Vampires days. I am a crazy fan so when I tell you I'm desperate for every book and then delve into the dark deep depths of book depression after I finish I'm not even joking. I dived into this book immediately and could not stop even though I knew in my head I should rush it because the next book is months away. Did that stop my greedy arse? Nope. Now I'm sad as fuck.
Ahhhhhhh When He's an Alpha is just everything I needed and then some. Suzanne's writing is so uniquely her I could point it out without knowing it was her book. The way she writes these larger than life characters and still somehow makes them relatable in some way to the readers. The way she balances the darker topics with real emotion and threads humour and romance through it in a way that is so seamless its undetectable. The plot progression and character development is without a doubt some of the best I've ever read and just like with the rest of her stories, it so fluid and reads perfectly. Every scene reads so natural it feels normal to read about all the crazy shit that happens despite it being fictional. It really is a gift to have to kind of talent she has in writing and being able to connect her readers to her stories.
Tate is positively delicious. A whole hunk of alpha man meat with all the dominance a girl needs and then some. He's honest to fault and doesn't attach to anyone easily. It's safe to say he's had bad experiences which in turn effect his outlook on relationships, he doesn't trust easy and he certainly doesn't let them in long enough for feelings to linger. So Havana was a question mark for him. He didn't change his approach to having a fuck buddy for her but he did linger on his feelings for her and avoided thinking about why it effected him. She pushed him, made him question his choices. She didn't take his shit and she stood for herself not needing him to help her. He liked that even when he couldn't make sense of it. I was very surprised with how easy trusted in her ability to hold her own and just how sweet he became with her. He's super protective and very stubborn but he also respected her strength. Man.... he was just a whole damn buffet I wanted a piece of.
Havana .... lord I love her. Like love her almost as hard as I love Harper. This is a woman who has to much respect for herself to stay in a situation that would inevitably leave her hurting. So she did the best she could and walked away. She was fair and as honest as she could be without making Tate feel guilty... she didn't play any tricks or emotionally manipulate him. It was like a breath of fresh air. She didn't expect him to not want to walk away or to show up reminding her of what she wants. She definitely didn't expect him to question it over and over and push for more answers. To say she was shocked would be a understatement and I loved that. She as a whole is just so badass, super cool, confident and honest. As a loner you'd think she'd crave acceptance but she didn't, she just drew her own box and sat comfortably in it being ok with who she is and the people who surround her. I loved the way she never flaunted her strength or tried to overpower anyone... if anything she downplayed it drastically. I respected just how protective she was of her family and how she single handily managed to keep them from killing eachother. She's a depthy character and one I'd love to have as a friend.
These two together are a dream. It's not all smooth sailing by any means but I absolutely adored the dynamics between them. I feel like she's the calm to his storm with the power to stand beside him not under him and he needed that. The chemistry is absolutely crazy straight of the bat with them but the connection that slowly blossoms is the all consuming kind I could not get enough of. The slow building trust and sweet tender moments just felt right for them. I love the back and forth between them trying to figure out what the heck was happening. I adored getting to see deeper into who they are and what makes them tick and watching then slowly drop their guard. They just felt right together.
Oh holy story. It's safe to say this is no boring journey.... with a tonne of action, a smidge of suspense and a whole lot of crazy.. you're in for a ride. The side characters as always just add so much personality to the story and light up the room with every scene. I found myself both curious and wanting to know more about them all. I love the unique relationship between the characters.. especially Havana, Bailey and Aspen.. those three just made my heart happy and my ribs hurt from laughing so hard at the antics. Havana was definitely the mum of the group with Bailey and Aspen forever beating on each other. I'm also super curious about Aspen and Camden and I'm praying they get their own story because there has to be more to them than just best friends. I'm also curious because of Camdens personality... he had me asking so many questions. There is so much more than just Havana and Tates romance and whilst I loved the hell out of that I really enjoyed the little sneak peaks Suzanne gave us into other things that I've already been wondering about. I feel like this book is a taste of what's to come in the future and I'm so excited about that.
So to wrap this up... I love the hell out of this book. The characters are as always so multidimensional with so much depth I can't even. The plot progresses perfectly taking us on a rollercoaster with all the feels. Suzanne's story telling abilities are like no other and I was so completely invested in these characters and their journey amongst other things. I laughed till I cried, I swooned.. ranted and raved like a crazy person and by the end felt devastated that it had to end. The sweet and the sinful. The crazy dysfunctional and utterly hilarious. The bond between family and friends. All the future possibilities and relationships... everything about it just felt so fucking right I can't even. It's actually sad that I'll be counting down a year until the next book.
If you love strong characters and all kind of crazy then this is the book for you. There is a reason she's forever my queen of PNR. ...more
