FourandHalfStars
I’m going to start with saying this is probably the weirdest story I have ever read, and I’ve read a lot of weird stuff. It’s right up my alley in that sense, and I knew it would be based on the blurb. I was a bit lost in the beginning of this short story; there wasn’t a lot of world building until a good way in and so I was quite a bit lost as to what was going on.
Once I got into the meat of the plot, this story took off. There is a lot of political commentary along with fantastical creatures, commentary we could all probably stand to think about. I was a bit disappointed though with the ending of this story. It wrapped up very quickly, and for someone who is an agent of the government, I expected Alex to be far more than just a catalyst. I’d say more, but I don’t want to spoil it.
One thing did irk me a lot. There is mention of gay and bi-curious, but not just bisexual. This book is labeled as bisexual, so I figured it’d be friendly toward it, but it seems it. It also wasn’t as poly as I was expecting, more just in passing mention than anything else. The bi-curious comment was about the monster world which is supposedly far ahead of most of the world, but if they’re still labeling it as bi-curious, then they’re obviously mistaken.
Over all a great read that definitely kept me interested. All the fantastical elements and the world that was created are very innovative and unlike anything I had read before.

The introduction by Connie Wilkins begins this wacky novel with humour and high spirits. Jess Nevins follows this with facts, knowledge, and actual extracts that give this novel its very uniqueness. The enlightenment we gain just reinforces the very essence of the tales that follow.
After being made aware of the facets of The Daughters of Frankenstein and other such characters, the remainder of the book is full of short tales, and, because of what we have learned we can immediately identify with each tale and how it closely associated with the facts and information we have previously ascertained. This is why I found this book so fascinating, you could recognize each tale and base it on fact. This along with the humour, the comedy elements and the at times outrageous and zany concepts that each tale depicted made it such a thoroughly mind blowing read.
I would recommend this book to any one who enjoys, Sci fi, the macabre, fiction and also those who enjoy factual quotes and who value a good sense of humour and want to read a book that takes you away from the mundane and into unknown, a book that is truly different and well worth reading.

The plot moved quickly, which kept my interest. I was definitely wanting to find out what happened to these two women.
However, I didn’t find any real connection between them or to me. I can’t tell if it’s because it wasn’t there or if it was because of the writing. There was a lot of telling in this story, rather than showing and a few very odd and abrupt point of view shifts. Each woman seemed very similar to the other, so it was hard to tell who was thinking/feeling what.
That aside, the over all plot and story line was very interesting and unique. It was somewhat predictable and not at the same time. There wasn’t much lead in or foreshadowing to the unpredictable parts, and the beginning seemed more focused on the action and the end on the romance.
This could have definitely been a novel, and it might have served the plot better if it was. It would have allowed for expansion of the feelings and personalities that I felt were so lacking in the story itself. As a short story, it was complete with beginning, middle, and end.

I loved the whole concept of the story and plot and the characters grew on me quickly. Celeste and her flirty charm kept a smile on my face whenever she was in a scene while Laney captured my heart with her adorable shyness. Wonderful character development and beautifully executed interactions kept me turning pages.
My only complaints on this one were some editing issues that occasionally brought me up short and paused progression of the story for either grammar issues or spelling complications. The second was more along a personal preference line than an issue with the book or author directly, it seemed to me the connection that was apparent between the main characters (to the point of even having supporting characters commenting on it) took far too long to develop. I would have liked to see some kind of movement toward involvement from them earlier in the story. Otherwise I enjoyed the story and would love to read more in the same setting!

It's written in fairy tale style, a story that is told rather than shown, with lots of mystery. Too much mystery, at times, for me to figure out. People are cursed, villains are confusing, there are magic potions. But Anastasia is a competent, admirable heroine. She takes care of her adorably wicked little sister. She tries to bond with her new stepsister.
The interaction between the three young members of the family is compelling. I read this story fast, not wanting to put it down. There's a lesbian aspect, however it's more chaste than seductive. It's enough of a love story to feel satisfying without being a love story. In fact, it's what I usually want from more "mainstream"/non-romance books. "Okay, just like that, but more gay." So here's a fairy tale with a little bit of gay, but much more fairy tale. If this is your genre, you'll be happy adding this to your collection.

It means her writing is vastly improving. This story would have been four and half star rating had the writing been a lot smoother and less choppy.
That said, the plot of this fantastic little short was highly entertaining. The damsel in distress was not so damsely, which I love. On top of that, a woman in overalls with grease is about as sexy as they get! I loved the innovation with the mechas and how each was different, the fighting and how it was “improper” for a woman yet each Operator was a woman.
It’s a contrast within a contrast. The two worlds colliding in one where equality seems to be just out of grasp until the end. Overall a very innovative story, where the hero wins out in a great steampunk world.

I had really high hopes for this story because I love ghost stories. However, it fell a bit flat for me, probably because it was focused a bit more on the romance than I was expecting, which shouldn’t surprise me actually.
This story takes us from the beginning of a relationship or friendship to the end, which is always beautiful to see. I loved see all different aspects of Rose and Elise. However, I had a lot of issues with the transitioning between the timeline. It was abrupt and awkward for me. I kept thinking I would get used to it, but I just couldn’t and it made me stop and start and have to rethink a lot about what was going on in the story as a whole.
This was a great short story aside from that and lack of explanation to how Elise did things. It was a quick read that took me maybe an hour to complete. And honestly, the Megan’s bio could really be my bio. Kansans unite!

This is good, campy fun. Janine Stanton finds herself accidentally flung into the very, very distant past where she's at the mercy of the prehistoric world and its inhabitants. I love her reactions to her surroundings, and it's clear she never turns off her scientific mind.
The raptor she names Real is intelligent and about as kind as ferocious dinosaurs get, I suppose. If a giant bird-lizard can be described as sexy and beautiful, Real certainly is both.
I have no idea how "realistic" the sex scenes are, given that I've never had sex with a dinosaur. But they are well-written, given the context. In fact, the writing style overall is very good, despite the unusual subject matter.
Not bad for my first time reading Dinorotica. Guess I can cross something else off my bucket list now.

Thankfully, Cannon once again delivered a wonderful, action packed story that had me flipping pages hours after I should have put it down and gotten some sleep.
While the kind of romance I loved so much in the Riley Parra series was absent, the rest of the aspects the book held more than made up for it. The characters are true to type and personality, remaining consistent through the course of the book with believable growth and learning experiences. The backdrop of the story was riveting and well thought out as well as being wonderfully described. I would recommend this to any who enjoys steampunk or just a good plot mystery!

I'm the first to admit that when it comes to Sci-Fi I'm picky and a bit overly critical so I went into this book expecting it to fall short as most do. Thankfully, Cannon once again delivered something more than worth reading and made me fall in love with this book and it's characters. Rani had me chuckling at every turn with her wit and the cast of (literally!) colorful characters surrounding her were deep, well planned and complimented her wonderfully.
I laughed, I cried, I yelled and wanted to throw my Kindle but I stuck with it and in the end was so glad I did. The imagery and plot devices were perfectly placed, well planned, thought through in detail and kept me interested. Well done once again Mr. Cannon!

Wes shows another side of him that I agreed with Gar on (we didn't really think he'd be into some of the things he is). I need more details on what had him so attached to Gar to make me really like him though.
Where I thought the naughty scenes were getting better in the second book, they returned to sort of awkward encounters in this book sadly.
Even though Part Three ends in a cliffy, I'm not sure I am attached enough to the characters to wait a long period of time to find out more about their story.

Gar comes off as very immature with her drinking and disregard for her lover's mother, even if said mother doesn't like her and I can see why. Lena, her lover, is a doormat. She lets her mother and Gar control her. Wesley... well, I'm not sure how I feel about his forcefulness and high handedness.
I felt like there was more telling than showing with how the book was written. Things needed to be slowed down and give more finesse and feeling to really draw in the reader to what the characters are feeling/doing/experiencing.
However, I think there is a lot of potential in the story so I will keep reading with the hopes that it gets better as it goes.

There wasn't much to it other than a sweet, hot girl-meets-girl story. Rachel and Mavis are both likable, and their time together ranged from sweet to sexy to surprisingly deep. For me, the scene where Rachel accepts pleasure from Mavis was much more interesting and hotter than the ones where she's giving, though that's mostly personal preference. I loved seeing inside Rachel's sense of herself, her gender, and her gender expression. That was a happy treat--my favorite kind of erotica uses sensuality to explore more complex themes. There are so many reasons I love her work, and this was no exception. Once again, I was hooked on the first page.
As usual, this was another story that made me think deeply about forgiveness and redemption. It was much more overtly Christian, which may not be for everyone but was a definite selling point for me. I adored the group personality of the church ladies and found myself relating in the sense of recognizing the dynamics and enjoying their relationships. I'd have loved to know more about them.
The relationships between Gemma and the other women in the story were fascinating. I found it interesting that she was so reserved with those in her offline life but much more willing to let her natural personality out online. I think that's something many people can relate to in an era when a lot of our interactions are online rather than face-to-face.
Despite her deceptions, Celine was my favorite character. I thought she experienced the most growth during the course of the story--from someone wanting to learn more about the woman she loved to discovering herself as a person with a complex identity, she was a treasure.
There were moments when I wasn't sure how I felt about some of the things both Gemma and Celine did. Gemma seemed quick to blame Celine despite her own shortcomings. However, I think that's realistic, and the way in which they moved past it made sense to who they were. I'm not sure how I would have reacted in their situation; probably not any differently.
For me, this story went beyond simply entertaining me (though it did plenty of that too). It made me think deeply about the themes and the interactions between the characters. All in all, a multi-faceted and enjoyable read.

Mr Cannon researches his book extremely thoroughly. The name given to the ship in the novel is an actual freight carrying ship, Tamerlane. Tamerlane is also a poem by Edgar Allan Poe about loss of first real love, both name and poem are relevant to this novel. The escapades throughout the book are both exciting and supporting the underdog, the needy, the less able in society, all thoroughly deserving causes. This makes us believe in the cause and want them to succeed. The event are as relevant today as they are to the future described in the novel.
The main characters in the book are brave yet show great emotion, great love for each other and to what they believe in.
I was personally particularly impressed with the dialect used to count, used on two occasions, Cumbrian.
My only criticism would be that in this novel to many masters are served, those who enjoy science fiction, those looking for an exciting adventure, those looking for a beautiful love story and those looking for sexual content. I feel adding so many sex scenes detracted from an otherwise excellent book. I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads. Chris...more

DespFourStars I'm a big fan of Ms. Vitsky's work, and I'm always excited to find a new story to read. This one is the sequel to Mistress on Her Knees. Despite my usual love for her work, this was one story that left me unsure how I felt. As far as the writing, it's as beautiful as ever. The phrasing is lovely, and the imagery is vivid without being overly descriptive. The characters are complex and interesting, with rich histories that play into the power dynamics between them. Graciela and Trinity both have good points and flaws, and each has her own set of needs. I admit I've always been on Trinity's side (I think I relate to her more), but Graciela grew on me.
I also always appreciate the way Ms. Vitsky works themes of repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation into the story. I think that's what ended up leaving me uncomfortable in this one. Usually, I feel a sense that the reconciliation is mutual and even though spanking/discipline will continue to be part of the relationship, it never feels conditional. In this one, it felt conditional, and there were some elements which felt as though consent was absent or unclear. It's possibly personal preference (these are literally the only BDSM-themed stories I will read). But it still disappoints me not to absolutely be in love with a favorite author's story.
Despite that, I would still recommend this highly to fans of Ms. Vitsky or fans of F/f stories in general. It's still well-written and interesting. I recommend reading the first part and possibly the other stories in which these characters appear beforehand, though.

I loved the main character's voice. I often dislike the way adolescents are written as fairly self-absorbed and unsympathetic or else completely victims of their circumstances. Corinna (and her friends as well, but it's written first person) was neither of those. She was complex and interesting, probably one of the best young narrators I've read in a long time.
There isn't much I can say about the plot that wouldn't be spoilers. The timeline was interesting, with the whole story told in flashbacks. Each one provided one more piece to the puzzle. It was very well done, with enough clues to draw readers in but not so many as to give everything away too soon.
This is a fantastic book, and there is no doubt I will be sharing it with my kids when they're old enough to understand the complex themes and content.
