I wish they'd go back to the longer stories, though. I love Mai and I enjoyed her arc in this comic, it was unexpected but fun. I do wish they put a bit more nuance in Azula's portrayal, especially as a kid. I think there is a lot of room to explore more than one-sided 'she's evil' that the comics are doing now, which is a shame. ...more

Azula is a very interesting character and it was nice to get a peek into her mind, but the story didn't really accomplish anything. I wonder if it's a prequel to something else Azula-related coming out in the future, as it mostly seems to reflect on her character a bit and hint a bit at the future. If you're hoping for something that drives her story forward, I wouldn't get this comic. It's more about her reflecting on her family/friends and her own actions. Though I'm not sure what she took away from it in the end. ...more

Much like Katara's, this one is set in the middle of the tv show, showing a moment in between episodes. This limits the story quite a bit.
I enjoyed it less than the Katara comic but more than the Toph comic. I just think it suffered a lot from the timing/setting, but I did really like seeing more about Suki and her backstory, something that was missing from the tv show....more

I did enjoy seeing a few more hints at connections between A:TLA and Korra in this comic and I enjoyed seeing more of Toph. But I read it in about 15 minutes and I doubt I'll reread it a lot. So a 3 star from me. ...more

I enjoyed it a lot, the characterization was on point and since Katara is one of my favorites from the show, it was nice to see a story centered on her.
What I did find a bit of a shame is that its a story set during season 2 of the show, that means nothing too big or impactful can happen in the comic as it would have to be referenced on the (long finished) show. But overall, it was a nice story. ...more

I loved reading the first story in the adventure in this format. I feel like they did a great job adapting the podcast to a comic, keeping the same tone and feel of the podcast. I think that is probably very difficult to do, but they did it really well. The story was streamlined a bit, but for the most part it stayed very true to the source material. The art was wonderful to look at and really enhanced the story.
All in all, a wonderful experience. I would love for this book to introduce more people to The Adventure Zone, both in this form and its original format. Reading this has inspired me to go back and listen to the early episodes again.

Somehow, I always enjoy stories about online gaming communities despite not really ever having been part of one. It's always nice to see how an author interprets this premise, and I liked that unlike the other books about this I have read, this book wasn't set in the future.
I thought the story was sweet and had a nice buildup, though it also seemed a little too simple sometimes. (view spoiler)[ There was a point where the main character gets called out for trying to solve a problem she couldn't solve because she didn't completely understand the context, but in the end she seems to be proven right anyway. It seems to undercut the message a little. (hide spoiler)] I also really liked the art style! The use of color was really great, and I liked how the style was a little different for the real world and the virtual game world....more
