It was a cute story that showed what the characters were up too ten months later and fit perfectly with the first book. It was cute and fun to read. Again, I loved how it didn't just focus on Howie and Arthur but on everyone around them.

The summary of this book This book wasn't next on my tbr list, but I was feeling in the mood for something light and fun, with a gay character in it. The summary of this book did hold me back a little bit because it made Howie seem a little bit like a jerk with his whole plan to find a girl, but I think the book handled that well. He was a bit of a jerk, but it was largely a way to hide even from himself.
I really loved this book. It was absolutely amazing. What I often worry about (and find) when reading M/M books, is that it focuses too much on the romance and smut. This book has no graphic sex scenes in it and I'm really glad about that. It would have taken me out of the story and turned it into something else. The relationship between the two main characters is important, but its not the only important thing in the entire story. In fact, it feels woven naturally in between a lot of other plot points.
I also loved LOVED the side characters. They made this book as amazing as it is. Every single one of them shone, from the people working in the store to Howie's mother. It all fit together perfectly.
I will definitely reread this book when I'm feeling down, and hunt down the sort of sequel I saw floating around on here. I want moooore. ...more

While I've been moving to reading more contemporary books, they are often YA and lighthearted. Cam Girl is neither, but I still really liked it. The story of Vada and Ellis wasn't an easy one to read about, and often I wanted to shake them both because they could be very frustrating. But the bad decisions they make never feel disingenuous or forced, so it was never too frustrating to read about as you could understand why the characters made the choices they did. The mystery of the book kept me interested, though I'm still not sure if I'm happy with how it turned out to be. And while it was expected from a book with a premise like this, I did feel like for me personally there was a little too much sex in the book. But that's a personal thing, and I just skimmed the scenes when I felt like it became too much. Though I did like how positive this book was about the subject. Still, it definitely isn't the only focus of the story, it has many different layers that I really enjoyed reading about. It helps that the writing is really beautiful as well, it's very captivating....more

It was alright through the first parts, I wasn't a fan of the romance but I never really am so I didn't mind it too much. I was still interested in the worldbuilding and the story, despite the slow build. One of my favorite bits was (view spoiler)[ Feyre and her sisters getting along better when she returned home. (hide spoiler)] So I thought I was going to enjoy the end, despite the bland romance and unnecessary sex scenes.
Then it started going downhill for me so quickly that I felt like I was in a rollercoaster going down. (view spoiler)[ I liked the first trial with the maze and the worm, but after that... (hide spoiler)]
Basically one big thing that made me change my opinion of this book was one character. He seems very popular but I could absolutely not stand Rhysand. (Warning: there's a rant here) (view spoiler)[ The way he treated Feyre was disgusting, the drugging and sexually charged public humiliation were extremely uncomfortable to read about. I don't care why he did it or what he did after, it's unforgivable in my eyes. Especially since he admits to wishing he could have done more (translation: rape her while she's drugged) but only didn't do it because of Tamlin. It makes my blood boil that a character like that can be written sympathetically afterward and be given a tragic backstory to make fans forgive him for anything awful he did before. The queen barely gets any depth and her reasons for doing what she did were extremely flimsy and also frankly sexist. (women only do anything because they want men!! obviously!!)
I also thought that making Feyre immortal at the end was kind of a cop out. (hide spoiler)]
I only started really disliking this book at the end so this entire review is basically a spoiler, but I'm really disappointed. I'm not judging you if you liked the character I hated because that's the way he's written, you're supposed to like him. (which is why I got so annoyed) And I'm only glad that so many other people did enjoy this book, I guess it just isn't for me.
I might read the sequel when it's out because I do like the world and most of the story but I most likely won't. ...more
