Introducing Indonesia

Not only does Indonesia offer some of the best beach escapes anywhere in the world, it’s also full of smiling people, incredible food, a diverse array of wildlife, and spectacular volcanoes.

When is the best time to visit?
The hands down best time of the year to visit Indonesia is between May and September, when the days are dry and sunny. That being said, it stays warm and comfortable during the wet season as well, when you should expect intense downpours that last a few hours but clear up pretty quickly.

Where to go in Indonesia?
As tempting as it is to spend the entire trip relaxing in Bali, there’s so much more to Indonesia than beaches and spa treatments. Visit active and dormant volcanoes, such as Mt. Bromo in the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park, or paddle through the Komodo National Park, home of the world famous Komodo Dragons. You will inevitably travel in and out of Indonesia via Jakarta, and other cultural destinations to explore include Yogyakarta, Tana Toraja, and the Baliem Valley.

How many days do I need?
Indonesia is best experienced at a slower pace. Let yourself enjoy the beaches and other natural scenery, and maybe even visit a spa or two. Try to reserve at least a week to really savor this country.

Explore Indonesia: Sumatra, Java & Bali - 21 Days

Immerse yourself in the wonders of Indonesia on this three-week adventure across three of the country's most spectacular islands. Spot rare orangutans on an unforgettable multi-day jungle trek on Sumatra, then hop over to Java to visit ancient Buddhist temples and climb active volcanoes. For the first half of the trip, base yourself in Ubud, going on excursions to hike around rice terraces, cycle through villages, and visit the region's famous temples. Then you'll continue on the journey with a sunrise trek to the top of Mount Batur and a detour to Tanah Lot, a Balinese sea temple. Spend the last part of the trip in the resort town of Seminyak, the perfect jumping-off point for a boat cruise and snorkeling trip around Nusa Lembongan.

Highlights of Bali - 7 Days

Starting in Canggu, you'll drive along scenic Pupuan Road, passing terraced rice fields and jungle landscapes on your way to a temple that appears to float in mid-air. You'll finish with a day of market browsing and strolling on the beach in Sanur.

From snorkeling with coral sharks to sleeping in a traditional cone-shaped hunt, this week-long itinerary is full of off-the-beaten-path adventures. You'll explore western Flores and the Komodo Archipelago, accompanied by knowledgeable local guides and rangers. Work your way through rugged terrain to secluded caves and remote villages, overnighting in local homes and breaking bread with locals. Then embark on a three-day boat trip through the Komodo archipelago that features jungle hikes, wildlife-viewing walks, and underwater excursions where you'll have the chance to snorkel with colorful fish.

We had a wonderful experience working with Kim Kim to help plan part of our Indonesian adventure in Bali, Lubuan Bajo and Komodo. Caroline and Welton were excellent planners and concierges. They were both professional, friendly and so responsive to our requests and questions. They really helped make traveling in a part of the world that we had never visited before so easy and stress free. Our driver Ketut was the best! Thank you Kim Kim for an amazing vacation.
