PBL Reflection

The student helped make their school yearbook by taking photos and designing 4 pages as the photographer and page designer. They learned they need to improve their time management and that problem-solving as a group with their teacher's help allowed them to complete the project on time despite challenges. The experience taught them skills like working with others, speaking up, and completing tasks outside their comfort zone that will help prepare them for college and careers.

Project-Based Learning Reflection

Class in which you did the project: yearbook/leadership

Brief project description: Helped make the school yearbook

Your role for the project: Photographer and page designer

What did you do, personally, to contribute to the overall project? Be specific!
Personally, to contribute to the yearbook, I was assigned a group and 4 pages to complete per
deadline. We had to take pictures and design the pages based on the theme and specific page
title. All of the pages had to look nice together and express school spirit.

What did you learn about yourself in terms of time management, personal responsibility,
problem-solving, collaboration, or other soft skills via this project? I learned a lot about myself.
In terms of time management I learned that it was something I really needed to work on
improving. Personal responsibility was an area I was pretty strong in other than when I allowed
distractions to get in my way. Problem-solving was difficult but with group efforts and Mrs.
Bogner’s help was very manageable to get the project done.

If you had an industry expert or mentor who assisted with this project, what are some things that
you learned from this person? N/A. However Mrs. Bogner taught me that even with hard work
things don’t always work out the way we plan but the job can still get done.

How has this experience helped prepare you for college or careers beyond high school?
Ideas mentioned previously proves this question, but also learning how to work with others even
if we particularly don’t get along. As well as stepping outside of my comfort zone to get the job
done by taking pictures around campus and having to speak up for what we needed.
