Project-Based Learning Reflection

Class in which you did the project: I worked on a project-based learning project this year in
culinary/photography.

Brief project description: The project was called culinary cooks and we had a few different
events at the elementary and middle schools along with the high school are the citrus fair. We
had games like a spinning wheel of food, eating contest, and “snack attack”.

Your role for the project: I mainly focused on the set up and take down of the events. Along
with helping to decide what foods to use

What did you do, personally, to contribute to the overall project? Be specific!
I made floor plans that were to scale, brought chairs and a table to the citrus fair, helped set up
the canopy, supervised the booth at the citrus fair for a little bit and did most of the set up and
clean up during the rally we hosted here at school.

What did you learn about yourself in terms of time management, personal responsibility,
problem-solving, collaboration, or other soft skills via this project?
I learned that I step up and take charge when others won’t as well as get very detail
oriented/specific on how things should go when there isn’t a plan to go off of.

If you had an industry expert or mentor who assisted with this project, what are some
things that you learned from this person?
I feel like we could have had a bigger turn out at the citrus fair and the food that would have
been chosen probably would have been better than what we decided on.

How has this experience helped prepare you for college or careers beyond high school?
It has helped me figure out some of my strengths and weaknesses with working in groups of
people. As well as helped me realize how my critical thinking skills can help me out when I
don’t have a specific plan to go off of
