PBL Reflection

This project involved cooking fettuccini alfredo with broccoli and garlic bread for a school food fest where different groups made various foods. The student cooked the meal with a partner in the morning and they sold it to the public. Through this experience, the student learned they work well collaborating with others and can manage time effectively by dividing roles and solving problems as they arise, such as running out of ingredients. Advice from an industry expert helped the student learn how to calculate food quantities and costs. Overall, this project provided experience that could help prepare for careers like business ownership through hands-on learning about collaboration, responsibility, and real-world job skills.

What did you learn about yourself in terms of time management, personal responsibility,
problem-solving, collaboration, or other soft skills via this project?

I learned that I work well with other people and we managed our time very well. We both had a
role to play and we both did a good job solving problems that we encountered such as running
out of a specific thing and having to go buy them.

If you had an industry expert or mentor who assisted with this project, what are some things that
you learned from this person?

I learned how to calculate the amount of food you would need and the amount of money it would
take.

How has this experience helped prepare you for college or careers beyond high school?

It has helped me prepare for careers beyond high school because it showed me what it would be
like to own a business.
