13.
Nowadays, people’s health is one of the most concerning problems. So in order to live a long
and healthy life, I will make some suggestions.
Firstly, a balanced diet should be implemeted in people’s meals. This is because minerals and
other nutrients from this diet will improve your physical condition. What’s more, it is
scientifically proven that a balanced diet is one of the major factors contributing to human’s
longevity.
However having solely a balanced diet is not enough, I would argue that people should also
exercise regularly, because doing so will help them improve not only with their physical
health but also with their mental heath. For example, yesterday, after a day of hard work, (you
know) I was under a lot of pressures so I decided to go running a little bit, and after a while,
you know, it really did help me burned out stress.
And last but not least, ones should arrange their time effectively to get enough sleep, given
how important it is for both students and worker, when it comes to helping them recharge
their batteries, as well as enhance their productivity.
Well, there are a lot more, but I think those suggestions I have mentioned above are the sort
of standouts.
14. Young people who commit crimes should be treated the same as adults who
commit crime. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Public opinions remain divided on whether young offenders should receive the same degree
of punishment as their adult counterparts or not. I concur with the latter viewpoint for reasons
outlined below.
Admittedly, some might argue that applying the same punishment for everyone regardless of
their ages is just fair since this approach puts all criminals on an equal footing, and it also acts
as a strong deterrent against prospective crime in the foreseeable future. However, this line of
reasoning is not firmly grounded in facts as it fails to factor in the blight of many offenders
from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds as well as their lack of experience as a
citizen. Several young criminals, for example, cannot virtually afford to cover their basic
necessities such as tuition fee or food supply, nor are they cared for by their neglectful
parents, which consolidates motives behind their unlawful activities. This very fact renders
harsher punishments futile and even counterproductive in combating crime.
Nevertheless, there are more practical solutions for crime alleviation without the need to
subject juvenile delinquents to imprisonment or other forms of austere sentences. Chief of
these is an emphasis on education, especially moral and law education to make adolescents
fully cognizant of the consequences they will face if they intend to lead a life of crime. This is
also because being granted proper schooling is the most efficient way to lift them out of
poverty and exerts long-term profound impacts on their life. In addition, ex-criminals should
be asked to hold formal discussions with schoolchildren to tell from their experience the dire
repercussions of committing crime. The vivid and offensive nature of such stories can serve
as an invaluable source of information, thereby dissuading teenagers from falling prey to
crime.
In conclusion, I believe juvenile criminals should receive more lenient punishments
compared to adults. Motives behind crime should also be taken into account, and strict
punishments should only be given to incorrigible offenders committing heinous crimes.
Finally, education and serious conversations with inmates are perfect substitutes when it
comes to countering juvenile delinquency.
