SPEAKING

PART 1:

My day usually start in the morning. In the morning, I wake up at 7am. Besides the
actions everyone does in the morning, like do personal hygiene, eat breakfast,. I usually
study english in that time. Because I want to start my day with something I like, and
english is the language I like most besides my mother toungue, it really makes my day.

About 10am, I cook lunch for myseft, after that I eat that lunch. Then I take a nap about
30’ to recharge, and about 12h50, I go to school. In the evening, I do some exercise to
keep healthy, and spend about 20m for meditation to get balance. Then, I eat my dinner
and take a shower, brush my teeth, and do my homework. That’s all about my typical
day.

As an Introvert, I just want to be at home in my weekends and do some things I like

such as: cooking, baking, reading novels,… sometimes when I miss my friends, I also
spend my weekends to hang out with them.
I always want to visit abroad, because I don’t have any chance to visit that places yet.
And the country that I really I want to visit is Thailand, as I like Thai cuisine very
much. One more reason why I want to visit there because the cost of traveling is quite
cheap, maybe it cheaper than visit domestic places like Phu Quoc or Da Nang.

I prefer traveling with my friends. Because when I travel with them, I can know better
about them. And more than that, when I travel alone, if anything unexpected happens
like I lost my id card or driver lisence , i maybe not be able to handle it without help.

Last year, I went on a trip to Da Nang. Naturally, I had to book a hotel for my five-day stay.
Everything about this hotel was disappointing to me. First, the facilities were very old, from
the air conditioner in room to the light in the hallway. The hallway light was motion-
activated, and it didn't work even when I stood very close to it. Second, the staff were
unfriendly and unhelpful. I reported the issue with the air conditioner, as it didn't seem to
be working well, but they avoided the issue and blamed the extremely hot weather for the
air conditioner's poor performance. Third, the hotel's location was very far from the city
center, making it difficult to find nearby restaurants. Each time I wanted to eat, I had to take
a taxi, which was quite expensive. In summary, the price I paid for this hotel was really not
worth it, and I definitely will not return that hotel.

My favorite sport is yoga, because I really like the way it both strengthens the body
and helps reduce stress. Besides, my body is not strong enough to practice heavy sports
like gym or cardio, so yoga is suitable for me.

I prefer to excerise alone, because I'm quite unconfident about my body and feel
uncomfortable being around other people.

There are a few ways that I use to maintain a fit body. First, don't eat too much greasy
(béo) food. Even though it's delicious, you should only control eating it maximum 2
times a week. Second is to drink lots of water, so the body can eliminate many toxins,.
Third is not to eat late at night to help your stomach can rest after a hard-working day
and to make it easy to control the amount of carlories that you consumed.

What I like best is the delicious and cheap food in my hometown. Every time I return
home, I eat a lot to satisfy my cravings, Because I only go back to my hometown once
a year, so I really miss the cuisine there.

There are many famous destinations in my hometown, first is Dau Market, an ideal
destination for people who like to eat because there is a lot of food here and it is also
very cheap. And it also has Ninh Hiep market, a very famous clothing market with
beautiful clothes and the price will make you happy. This market is the place that can
help you dress as beautifully as a princess or prince at the cheapest price.

I don't think I will continue to live in my hometown, because there are few job
opportunities.

I really like giving gifts to others, because this is a very good and practical (thuc te)
way to express my care for ricipients.

In my opinion, it is not important to spend a lot of money on a gift, the importance is

how much thought you put into that gift. Because think about it, when a friend spends
a lot of money to buy you a gift that you may not use, I think you'd probably prefer a
cheaper gift that suits you.

I often give gifts on my family member’s and my friends’ birthday, and the gift I give
is a birthday cake made by myself, this is really meaningful to everyone and to me.
Because to make a cake, it takes a lot of time and effort, so it shows my care and love
for them.

I am really keen on shopping, because I feel satisfied when I do it, It helps me release
stress and also gives me the motivation to earn and save money to buy the things I like.

I often go to Aeon mall because it’s the nearest mall from my house. It has 4 floors and
it is really wide. This shopping center has everything people need, from dining,
entertainment, shopping for clothes to groceries like food, snacks,…

I prefer online shopping because it saves time. when I shop online , I don’t need to spend
time go to the store. All I need is just stay at home, enter the name of the product I want
to purchase, and click order, Everything will be delivered to my doorstep within a few days.
More than that online shopping can save my money because there are many discount
vouchers that i can apply to my purchases.

"I watch television a few times a week, mostly in the evenings when I have some free
time.
One program I really enjoy is reality shows, especially those about competitions or
real-life experiences. They are exciting and unpredictable, and I like seeing how
people react in different situations.

As for watching TV, I prefer watching it with my family members. It's more fun to
share the experience with others, and we can discuss the shows together afterward.
Plus, it’s a great way to spend quality time with my family."

"Yes, I enjoy learning new languages because it helps me understand different cultures
and communicate with more people. Learning a new language is also a great way to
challenge myself and keep my brain active.
I think learning English is very important because it is spoken all around the world
and is used in many international settings, like business, travel, and education.
To improve my English, I watch English movies and TV shows, listen to english music,
and read books or articles in English. I also practice shadowing through english story,
use some apps like elsa to help my pronunciation better.

"In my country, the most popular sport is football (soccer). Almost everyone loves it,
and there are always matches being played, whether on TV or in local parks.

As for me, my favorite sport is cycling because it allows me to enjoy the outdoors while
staying active. I love exploring new trails and feeling the wind on my face as I ride.
Cycling is not only a great workout, but it also helps me clear my mind and relax.
When it comes to (khi ns -) children playing outdoor games, there are many benefits.
Outdoor sports help kids stay physically fit, develop social skills, and learn teamwork.
They also get to enjoy fresh air and spend time away from screens, which is important
for their overall well-being."

I use the internet quite a lot during the day, mostly because it’s essential for my studies
and staying connected with friends. I use it to research information for my assignments,
access online resources, and communicate with classmates about group projects.
Beyond my studies, I enjoy browsing social media, watching videos, and reading
articles for both entertainment and learning.

However, there are some negative aspects to the internet. For example, it can be
distracting, and sometimes I end up spending too much time online. There are also
issues like misinformation and privacy concerns. (end up: hực hiện một hành động mà

As for my favorite websites, I often visit english educational platforms like

dailydictation for practicing my english listening skill, video-sharing sites like
YouTube, and social media apps like Instagram to stay updated and entertained."

TIPS:

- Analyze the topic (1 minute)

- Choose the option that you have more ideas

- List 2 advantages (reasons) of the option you choose and disadvantages of the other
2 options

- State 2 advantages and compare with the other 2 options

- Summarize your choice

1. Situation:

You are planning your short holiday at the end of July. The following
options are recommended: taking a guided tour, visiting your relatives,
going camping with your friends. In your opinion, which one is the
best choice?
For my short vacation at the end of July, I believe that going camping with friends is
the best option. Camping offers a unique opportunity to disconnect from technology
and daily stress, allowing me to immerse (đắm chìm) myself in nature. The fresh air,
beautiful scenery, and physical activities such as hiking and swimming can be very
refreshing and relaxing. In addition, camping also creates bonding (su gan ket) and
strengthens friendships as my friends and I create memorable experiences together. On
the other hand, joining a guided tour may offer less freedom due to having to follow
the tour schedule. And visiting relatives is not a good choice because it would cause
annoyance to my relatives, although providing comfortance and saving money. In
conclusion, going camping is the choice that I think is most suitable for me.

---

For my short vacation at the end of July, I believe that taking a guided tour is the best
option. Guided tours are designed to provide in-depth insights into various historical
sites, cultural landmarks, and natural wonders, making it an excellent choice for those
who love learning and exploring new places. Additionally, guided tours often include
transportation and accommodation arrangements, reducing the stress of planning and
ensuring a smooth, well-organized trip. On the downside, camping with friends might
be less structured and could involve more effort in terms of planning and setting up,
which some might find challenging. However, camping with friends can be dangerous
and it requires careful preparation for the trip. Visiting relatives, although providing
comfort and familiarity, can bother them.

---

Visiting relatives at the end of July offers a unique opportunity to strengthen family
bonds and create lasting memories. Spending time with family members I don't see
often can be incredibly rewarding, as it allows you to reconnect, share stories, and catch
up on each other's lives. This option provides a sense of comfort and familiarity, which
can be a nice break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. However, taking a guided
tour might offer more variety and educational value, allowing you to explore new
places and learn new things. On the other hand, going camping with friends could
provide more adventure and physical activity, which might be more appealing to those
looking for a more dynamic holiday experience.

2. Situation:

With a busy schedule, you must quickly choose what to eat between
study sessions. You have these options to choose from: fast food from
a nearby restaurant, a packed meal at home, or some biscuits. Which
is the best?

With a busy schedule, I think some biscuits /ˈbiskit/ is the best choice for me. First, A
few cookies can fill me up and give me all the nutrients I need so i can concentrate on
the lesson in the following sentence. Second, they are very convenient /kənˈviːnjənt/,
easy to carry, and take no time to prepare. besides, cookies have a reasonable price, so
it help me save a large mount of money. Biscuits create less mess compared to a full
meal, which is especially helpful when I’m eating at my desk or on the move. Fast food
from a nearby restaurant is not the best choice because it wastes time to line up and it
may be unsanitary /ˌʌnˈsæn.ə.ter.i (Mất vệ sinh). Besides, preparing a packed meal
at home takes time to cook and requires a trip to the market to buy raw materials. In
summary, biscuits are a convenient, cost-effective, and flexible option for my busy
lifestyle.
3. Situation:

You are considering what to spend your large sum of lucky money on.
You have three options to choose from: a new laptop, a new
smartphone, or some books. Which is the best choice?
"If I were to spend a large sum of lucky money, I would choose to buy a new laptop.
One advantage of getting a new laptop is that it would be extremely useful for both
work and entertainment. I could use it to complete tasks more efficiently, such as
writing reports, creating presentations, or even attending online classes. Another reason
is that a laptop provides greater (multi-use) versatility / /ˌvɝː.səˈtɪl.ə.t̬ i/: tính đa tác
dụng. It’s not just for communication or browsing like a smartphone, but can handle
more demanding (Complicated) tasks like graphic design, gaming, or video editing.

In comparison, while a new smartphone is convenient for staying connected and

portable, it lacks the processing power (sức mạnh xử lý) and larger screen that a laptop
offers. As for buying books, although they can provide knowledge and entertainment,
they are more limited in their function compared to a laptop, which can access a vast
library of e-books and resources online.

In conclusion, the best choice for me would be a laptop, as it combines both

practicality and versatility, making it a better investment than a smartphone or
books."
4. Situation:

You are planning your summer vacation. There are three options for
you to choose from: going to the mountains, going to the beach, or
staying at the house of one of your relatives. Which is the best choice?
"If I were planning my summer vacation, I would choose to go to the beach. One
advantage of going to the beach is that it’s a great place to relax and enjoy the sun.
The warm weather and the sound of the waves create the perfect atmosphere for
unwinding (thu gian). Another reason is that there are many fun activities to do at
the beach, such as swimming, playing beach sports, or even trying water sports like
surfing. It’s an active and enjoyable way to spend the summer.

On the other hand, going to the mountains might be refreshing (sảng khoái), but it
requires more physical effort, like hiking, which may not be as relaxing. Staying at a
relative’s house is a budget-friendly option, but it might feel less like a true vacation
since I wouldn’t have as much freedom to explore or enjoy new surroundings, more
than that, it may cause annoyance for relatives.

In conclusion, going to the beach is the best choice for me. It offers a balance between
relaxation and fun activities, making it a more enjoyable option than the mountains or
staying at a relative’s house."

5. Situation:

You are thinking of different ways to advertise your products. There

are three options to choose from: on television, on the internet, or in
the newspaper. Which is the best choice?
"If I were thinking of different ways to advertise my products, I would choose to
advertise on the internet. One advantage of internet advertising is its ability to reach
not only local but also global audience. Unlike local options like newspapers, online
platforms allow me to attract people from different regions and countries. Another
benefit is the flexibility of internet ads, as I can choose to promote my products
through videos, social media, or sponsored content, which allows me to engage (thu
hút) with my audience in creative ways.

In comparison, television ads can be very expensive and may not be as targeted as
internet advertising. While they can reach a large number of viewers, not all of them
might be interested in my products. Advertising in the newspaper is often limited to a
local audience and doesn’t provide the interactive experience that online ads do. Plus,
fewer people are reading newspapers these days, which reduces its effectiveness.

In conclusion, advertising on the internet is the best option for me. It offers a wider
reach and more creative opportunities compared to television or newspaper ads,
making it the most effective choice."

6. Situation:

You want to improve your English skills. There are three options for
you to choose from: watching English movies, practicing with friends,
or reading English books. Which is the best choice?
"For improving my English skills, I would choose to watch English movies. One
advantage of watching movies is that it helps improve listening skills. By hearing how
native speakers pronounce words and use different expressions in context, I can better
understand natural speech. Another benefit is that movies expose me to a wide range
of vocabulary, especially slang (tiếng lóng) and informal phrases, which are not
always covered in books or classes. More than that, english movie is an interesting way
to learn english which don’t make me feel bored when learning it.

In comparison, practicing with friends can be helpful, but they might not always use
correct grammar or pronunciation, especially if they are learners like me. Reading
English books can improve vocabulary and comprehension (sự hiểu biết), but it
doesn’t provide the opportunity to hear how the words are spoken or used in
conversation.
In conclusion, watching English movies is the best choice for me because it helps with
both listening skills and expanding vocabulary in an engaging and realistic way,
making it a more practical option than practicing with friends or reading books."

7. Situation:

You want to buy some clothes for an upcoming event. There are three
options for you to choose from: shopping online, visiting a mall, or
buying from a second-hand store near your house. Which is the best
choice?
"in order to buy clothes for an upcoming event, I would choose to visit a mall. One
advantage of shopping at a mall is that I can try on clothes before purchasing them.
This allows me to see how the clothes fit and feel, which is important when choosing
the perfect outfit for a special occasion. Another reason is that malls usually offer a
variety of stores, giving me more options to find the exact style I’m looking for.

In comparison, shopping online might be convenient, but I wouldn’t be able to try on

the clothes, and returning items can be time-consuming. Buying from a second-hand
store is a budget-friendly option, but the selection is often limited, and it might be
harder to find something that fits perfectly or is in good condition.

In conclusion, visiting a mall is the best choice for me because I can try on clothes and
have a wide range of options, making it a better experience than shopping online or
buying from a second-hand store."

8. Situation:

You and your friends want to go out for a meal together. You have
three options for where to eat: a fast food restaurant, a buffet restaurant,
or a BBQ at a public park. Which is the best choice?
"If my friends and I want to go out for a meal together, I would choose a buffet
restaurant. One advantage of a buffet is that it offers a wide variety of food
options, allowing everyone to choose what they like best. This way, even picky
eaters (Người kén ăn) can find something they enjoy. Another benefit is that
we can eat as much as we want, making it a fun and relaxed dining experience
where we can try different dishes.

In comparison, a fast food restaurant is convenient, but the menu is often

limited, and the food might not be as fresh or satisfying. A BBQ at a public
park sounds fun, but it requires preparation and cooking, which can be time-
consuming, especially if we want to spend time together rather than cooking.

In conclusion, going to a buffet restaurant is the best choice for us because it

provides a diverse selection of food and allows for a more enjoyable dining
experience compared to fast food or a DIY BBQ at the park."

TIPS:
- Clarify the statement topic by using the supporting details and your own ideas

- Vary vocabulary by using synonyms, related words instead of using given words

- Use tips of part 1 to answer extended questions

1. Topic: Online learning brings more choices for people to improve

their knowledge. Suggested ideas:

- low cost

- flexible

- continuous

- (your own ideas)

Extended questions:

- What age groups are suitable for online learning?

- What are the main challenges faced by learners in online education?

"Online learning offers a wide range of opportunities for people to enhance their
knowledge. One major benefit is that it is usually more affordable compared to
traditional education. Many online courses are either free or cost significantly (đáng
kể) less, making education accessible to more people. Another advantage is the
flexibility it provides. Learners can study at their own place and fit classes around
their busy schedules, which is ideal for working people or students balancing multiple
tasks. Online learning is also continuous, meaning that individuals can access
learning materials anytime, allowing them to revisit lessons and stay up-to-date with
new information. In addition, online education allows learners to choose from a vast
array (mảng) of subjects, often not available in local institutions.

As for age groups, online learning is suitable for people of all ages, from schoolchildren
to elderly individuals who want to acquire new skills. However, one of the biggest
challenges is staying motivated and focused without the structure of a physical
classroom. Learners also need to have strong time-management skills and access to
reliable technology, which can sometimes be a barrier."

2. Topic: Leaning English has many benefits.

Suggested ideas:

- Find a good job with higher salary

- Make friends with people from over the world

- Make travelling easier

- (your own ideas)

Extended questions:

- How much time a day do you spend learning English?

- Do you prefer learning English through formal classes or self-study? -

What apps or online platforms do you use to learn English?
Learning English has numerous advantages, especially in today’s globalized world.

First of foremost, being proficient (thành thạo) in English can greatly enhance your
career prospects. In today’s global job market, many companies prioritize candidates
who can communicate effectively in English, as it is often the language of business and
international communication. Whether you’re applying for jobs at multinational
corporations or smaller firms with international clients, knowing English can increase
your chances of landing a good job with a higher salary.

Another significant advantage is that speaking English allows you to connect with
people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. With English being one of the most
spoken languages in the world, it becomes much easier to form friendships and build
professional networks with individuals globally.

Moreover, learning English makes travel much simpler and more enjoyable. Since
English is widely spoken in many parts of the world, from tourist destinations to
airports and hotels, being able to speak the language can make traveling smoother and
less stressful.

Personally, I dedicate around one to two hours daily to learning English, as I find that
regular practice is essential for improvement. I prefer a combination of formal classes
and self-study; classes provide a structured approach to mastering grammar and
vocabulary, while self-study allows me the freedom to explore topics of personal
interest, such as films and literature. To aid my learning, I frequently use apps like
Duolingo for vocabulary enhancement and online platforms like YouTube and BBC
Learning English to improve my listening skills and comprehension (comprehension).
This varied/diverse approach keeps my learning engaging and effective, helping me to
achieve my language goals."

3. Topic: Fast food is a good option for people these days.

Suggested ideas:

- convenience

- time-saving nature
- many choices

- (your own ideas)

Extended questions:

- How often do you eat fast food in a week?

- What fast food is popular in your country?

- What problems can happen if you eat fast food a lot?

"Fast food has become a go-to option for many people nowadays because of its
convenience. With our increasingly busy lives, fast food provides a quick solution for
meals when we don’t have time to cook. For people juggling work, studies, and other
commitments, it’s often easier to grab a burger or pizza than to prepare a meal from
scratch. Another reason for its popularity is how time-saving it is. Fast food outlets
(cửa hàng) are designed to serve customers quickly, and with the rise of food delivery
apps, it’s even easier to get a meal delivered to your doorstep in just minutes. This is
especially appealing to those who have tight schedules and need to eat on the go.

Moreover, fast food offers a wide variety of options. Whether you're in the mood for a
classic burger, fried chicken, or even healthier choices like salads, fast food restaurants
have something for everyone. The vast menu choices make it suitable for different
tastes and dietary preferences, making it a flexible option. However, while fast food is
convenient, it’s important to be aware of the potential health risks associated with
eating it too often. Many fast food items are high in calories, fat, sugar, and sodium,
which can contribute to long-term health issues like obesity, heart disease, and high
blood pressure if consumed excessively.

Personally, I try to limit my fast food intake to once or twice a week. In my country,
popular fast food choices include burgers, fried chicken, and pizza from international
chains like McDonald's, KFC, and Pizza Hut. Although these meals are tasty and
satisfying, consuming them too frequently can lead to problems such as weight gain,
digestive issues, and a lack of essential nutrients. Therefore, while fast food is a
convenient option, moderation (điều độ) is key to maintaining a healthy balance."

4. Social networking has changed how people around the world

connect.

Suggested ideas:

- Make more friends around the world

- Interact in real-time through photos, videos

- Help people reconnect with old friends

- (your own ideas)

Extended questions:

- How has social networking impacted the younger generation's behaviors

- What are some problems linked to social networking?

- How does false information on social media affect the society?

Social networking has transformed the way people connect across the globe. One of
the major benefits is that it allows individuals to make friends from different parts of
the world. Platforms like Facebook and Instagram enable users to interact in real-time
through sharing photos, videos, and messages, making communication more engaging
and immediate. Additionally, social media helps people reconnect with old friends and
maintain long-distance relationships, something that was much harder to do in the past.
However, while social networking has many advantages, it also comes with challenges,
such as the spread of false information, which can mislead people and create social
tension.

However, the rise of social networking has also influenced the behavior of younger
generations. While it has made communication more convenient and immediate, it has
contributed to a decline in face-to-face social interactions, with some young people
becoming overly dependent on likes, comments, and online validation. Additionally,
social media has introduced new challenges, such as the spread of misinformation and
the more mental illnesses like despression bz People are more easily affected
psychologically by attacks from social networks.

False information on social platforms can lead to confusion, distrust, and even social
division, as people may base their opinions on misleading content. This not only affects
individuals but can also have broader societal meaning, especially when it influences
public discourse and decision-making."

5. Teaching children to do housework is beneficial.

Suggested ideas:

- promote teamwork

- teach valuable life skills

- develop children’s independence - (your own ideas)

Extended questions:

- Did you help your parents do housework when you were young? Why
(not)?

- What types of housework can children do at home?

- At what age should children start doing housework?

Teaching children to do housework offers numerous benefits for their development and
strengthens family bonds. Firstly, it promotes teamwork, as children learn to
collaborate with family members to keep the home organized. This not only fosters a
sense of unity but also teaches valuable life skills. For instance, cooking helps children
understand nutrition, while cleaning develop organizational skills.

Moreover, doing housework raise a sense of responsibility. Children learn that their
actions affect the household, encouraging them to take ownership of their tasks and
boosting their self-confidence. Reflecting on my own experience, I helped my parents
with chores like washing dishes and folding laundry, which instilled a strong sense of
duty in me.

Younger children can start with simple tasks, such as making their beds or tidying up
toys, while older kids can handle more complex chores like cooking or clean the house.
I believe children should begin helping out around age 5 or 6, as this is when they can
understand the concept of responsibility and follow basic instructions. Overall,
involving children in housework equips (trang bị) them with essential skills for their
future independence.

Im writing this email to tell you about my recent trip.

I appreciate your concern. Unfortunately, my trip was quite disappointing due to poor
service at the hotel. The staff was unhelpful and our room wasn't clean upon arrival, which
really put a damper on the experience.

Despite these setbacks, I did manage to enjoy some activities. I went hiking in a beautiful
national park, which was the highlight of my trip. The scenery was breathtaking! I also
visited a local market, where I tried some delicious street food.

Overall, I spent around $800, which included accommodation, meals, and activities. It was a
bit more than I expected, especially considering the service issues. Hopefully, my next trip
will be better!

Take care, and let’s chat soon!

Best,
Kate

grains like brown rice and quinoa, and include lean proteins ( đạm nạc) such as chicken,

myself focused.

For daily tasks, I use productivity apps like Todoist to track assignments and deadlines.
Breaking (dividing) tasks into smaller, manageable steps makes them less overwhelming.

Remember to prioritize self-care, too. Taking breaks helps maintain your energy and

I’m writing this letter to provide you with the information you requested. Thanks so much
for agreeing to take care of my house while I’m away! I really appreciate it.

For my dog, please feed him twice a day—once in the morning around 8 AM and again in
the evening at 6 PM. He usually eats about one cup of kibble each time.

Regarding the rooftop garden, the plants need to be watered every three days, and make sure
to check if the soil feels dry. The tomatoes will need a little extra care, so give them a bit of
water if they look thirsty.

As for getting into the house, I’ll leave a spare (dự ph key under the flowerpot by the front
door. Just let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks again for your help, and I hope you enjoy spending time with my furry friend!

Love,
Janet

Hi Lizzie,
Thanks for your email! How have you been? I hope you are doing well.

I’m writing this letter to provide you with the advices you requested.

I’m glad to hear we’re planning the year-end party! For the venue, I suggest considering a
local community center or a restaurant with a private room, as it can accommodate our team
comfortably and create a festive atmosphere.

As for food, a buffet would be ideal, as it provides a variety of options to cater to different
dietary preferences, allowing everyone to choose what they like best. This way,

even picky eaters (Người kén ăn) can find something they enjoy. Including
vegetarian and gluten-free dishes would ensure everyone finds something they enjoy.

For entertainment, I think a mix of activities would keep things lively. We could hire a DJ
for music and perhaps set up a photo booth for fun pictures. Additionally, including some
team games could be a great way to engage (thu hút) everyone and create memorable
moments.

I’m excited about the party and can’t wait to see what we come up with!

Best regards,
Kathy

Hi Lucy,

Thanks for your email! How have you been? I hope you are doing well.

I’m writing this letter to provide you with the advices you requested. It's great to hear you’ve
started an online course!

Staying focused can be challenging, but I’ve found a few strategies that help. First, try to
create a dedicated study space free from distractions, like your phone or TV. Setting specific
time blocks for studying can also improve concentration.

For note-taking, I recommend using digital tools like OneNote or Notion, as they allow you
to organize your notes effectively and access them from any device. Summarizing key points
and using bullet points can make the information easier to review later.

When working on group projects, clear communication is key. Use platforms like Google
Docs for collaboration, and set regular check-ins to discuss progress and tasks. This way,
everyone stays responsible and engaged.

I hope these tips help! Let me know how it goes.

Best,
Susie
TASK 2: ESSAY

1. Online shopping

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic:

DISCUSSION:

“With the rise of digital marketplaces, shopping from home is becoming

more common, leading to fewer visits to traditional stores. Do you believe
this trend towards online shopping is a positive or negative development
overall?”

Write an essay to an educated reader to state your own opinion on the given topic.
Include reasons and any relevant examples to support your answer.

You should write at least 250 words. Your response will be evaluated in terms
of Task fulfilment, Organization, Vocabulary and Grammar.

On the positive side, online shopping provides unparalleled convenience.

Consumers can browse and purchase products from the comfort of their homes,
saving time and avoiding the stress of commuting, parking, and waiting in lines.
Additionally, online marketplaces offer a broader range of products than physical
stores, allowing customers to compare prices easily and find items that may not
be available locally. This accessibility has particularly benefited those in remote
areas, the elderly, or individuals with mobility issues.

Another advantage is the potential for cost savings. Many e-commerce platforms
offer discounts and promotions more frequently than traditional stores.
Moreover, reviews and ratings provide transparency, helping consumers make
informed decisions about their purchases.

However, the trend toward online shopping also has some downsides. One major
concern is the decline of traditional retail, which can lead to job losses in the
retail sector and the closure of small, local businesses unable to compete with
larger e-commerce platforms. This can negatively impact communities,
particularly in areas where retail plays a significant economic role.

Furthermore, online shopping can contribute to environmental problems,

including the increased use of packaging materials and the carbon footprint
associated with frequent delivery services. There is also the issue of
overconsumption, as the ease of purchasing online can encourage impulsive
buying behaviors.

2. Living in the city or the countryside

OPINION

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic:

“More and more people are moving to cities because they believe that living
in cities offers more advantages in comparison to rural life. What do you
think about this movement?”

One of the key attractions of city life is the availability of diverse job
opportunities. Cities are often hubs for industries such as finance, technology,
and services, offering a wide range of employment prospects. In contrast, rural
areas usually provide limited job options, mainly centered around agriculture or
small-scale businesses. For individuals seeking career advancement and higher
salaries, moving to the city is a logical choice. This economic pull is a strong
motivator for those seeking a better standard of living.

Cities also offer access to modern infrastructure and services that are often
lacking in rural areas. Urban residents benefit from advanced healthcare
facilities, a variety of educational institutions, and convenient public
transportation systems. These amenities improve quality of life, making cities

reduces the time available for academic work but also affects concentration and
productivity. Over time, it can lead to poor academic performance, as students
struggle to balance their online activities with their responsibilities.
