It is with immense pleasure that we invite you to the seventh edition of SICAS
Girls’ signature event, .
Emerge ‘24 offers a unique platform for talented young artistes to explore
their talent and showcase their passion in a variety of arenas, receiving
professional critique and accolades for their efforts. We endeavour to
nurture a plethora of artistic talents in young students.

We aim to foster creativity, collaboration, and self-expression among

students through a diverse range of artistic disciplines, encouraging them to
showcase their talents and connect with peers. By doing so, we hope to
inspire creativity, build confidence, and cultivate a spirit of collaboration,
providing a memorable experience that highlights the unique talents of each
participant.

• This is an O/A Level event. Delegates from Grade 9 – A2 (and all equivalents e.g.
Matric, Intermediate, IB MYP/DP) are welcome.

• Each delegation may include 4-6 participants.

• Delegations may register online through our Google Form.

• Registration will only be considered complete once the delegate fee, delegation fee
and the form have all been submitted.

• All delegations must nominate a Head Delegate.

It is mandatory for the Head Delegate to be present at the venue for the entire
event. In case of absence of the Head Delegate, they can nominate another person.

• Delegates will not be allowed to leave the premises during the event.

• All delegates may be accompanied by a chaperone.

• Results will be announced at the closing ceremony.

• The decision of the judges shall be considered final.

• Delegates must abide by the Code of Conduct posted on our socials.

Any violations will be dealt with by the Security Team.

Round 1: Murder Mystery

• Delegates have to search for clues hidden on the campus.
• Teams will be given initial clues to kick-start the murder case.

Round 2: Law Trial

• The delegates will be allowed to cross examine the suspects.
• Each team will have a limited time frame to prosecute or defend their case.
• No penalties or negative marking will be imposed for this round.
• The delegates will have to present their findings at the end of this round.

This is a compulsory category.

This category tests your knowledge on a range of topics, from history and geography to
science and pop culture. So, sharpen your wits, and let's see how well-rounded your
knowledge truly is!
• This category includes three rounds.
• Questions will be based on the following topics:
o World History o Famous Personalities
o Geography o Astronomy
o Popular Culture o Literature

This is an elective category.
There is no delegate cap.

• This category includes three subcategories. Delegates must choose one.

o Eastern
o Western
o Instrumental
• This category includes two rounds. There will be no elimination rounds.
• Delegates must bring their own instruments. If they wish for instrumentalists to
accompany them, the latter must be registered beforehand.
• Lyrics must be shared in advance to ensure appropriateness.
• A different song must be sung in each round.
• Performances must not exceed 3 minutes.
• Round 1 performances must reflect one of the given themes, shared on our socials.
• Round 2 performances must be a medley including 2-4 songs.

This is an elective category.

There is no delegate cap.

Round 1: Digital Design

• Delegates will create a design on Canva, following a brief shared on the spot.
• The design must be created from scratch and will be checked for originality.

Round 2: Coding Challenge

• Delegates must create a project on Scratch using algorithm writing.
• Delegates will have a given time frame to complete the project, and may use the
internet for guidance.
This is an elective category.
• This category includes three subcategories. Delegates must choose one.
o Still Life
o Mixed Media Collage
o Graffiti Art

• A3-sized sheets will be provided by the event management.

• Time allowed: 5 hours, divided between day 1 and day 2
• The choice of medium is open, but delegates must bring their own supplies,
including drawing boards, pencils, etc.

• Delegates must bring their own canvas: 48” x 60” size only.
• Time allowed: 6 hours, divided between day 1 and day 2.
• The choice of medium is spray paint only.
• Delegates must bring their own supplies.
• Delegates must create a piece of art that depicts one of the prescribed themes,
shared on our socials.

• Delegates must bring their own canvas: 36” x 48” size only.
• Time allowed: 6 hours, divided between day 1 and day 2
• The choice of medium is open.
• Delegates must bring their own supplies, including paints, brushes, etc.
• Delegates must create a piece of art that depicts one of the prescribed themes,
shared on our socials.
This is an elective category.
Delegate cap: 1-2 participants

• This category includes two rounds. There will be no elimination rounds.

Round 1: Interpretive Reading

• Delegates must bring a piece of original poetry or prose to perform aloud.
• The performance duration should be 1–3 minutes.
• Absolutely no profanity will be entertained.

Round 2: Jeopardy
• Delegates must choose a literature-related category.
• Each delegate/duo will be required to press a buzzer and answer the prompt given.

Round 3: The Bard’s Quill

• Delegates will be given two poems to read and analyse. They would then be asked
to combine/merge the poems in a way that it showcases the main theme of both
poems.
• Delegates will be allowed to add to the poems.
This is an elective category.
Delegate cap: 2 participants

• This category includes two compulsory rounds.

Round 1: Presentation
• Topics for Round 1 will be shared on our socials.
• The presentation for the first round must be prepared prior to the event and be
shared in a virus-free USB.
• Presentation time cannot exceed 3 minutes.
• Presentations would be judged on their content, presentation style, design,
originality and the message.

Round 2: Debate
• Topics for Round 2 will be announced on the morning of Day 2.
• Delegates will have 1 hour and 30 minutes to prepare their argument.
• Delegates may choose either side. One team member must introduce the topic
while the other member defends it.
This is an elective category.
Delegate cap: 2-3 participants

• This category includes two compulsory rounds.

• Participants must form a 2-3 member team, including stylist, makeup artist and
model.

Round 1: Presentation Round

• Delegates will choose a styling era: the 50s, 60s and 70s.
• They will present 2 complete looks based on their chosen styling era.
• Delegates will be scored on all aspects of styling: clothes, makeup, hair, posture,
etc.

Round 2: The Runway

• Themes for this round will be announced at the end of Round 1.
• Teams can pin, glue, stitch or simply drape their garments together by hand OR piece
an outfit together using ready-made articles.
• Teams will be judged on concept, execution and, of course, the final outfit itself.
This is an elective category.
Delegate cap: 1-3 participants

• This category consists of two subcategories, with two rounds each.

• Teams can participate in only one sub-category.
• Portrayals of violence, promiscuity or nudity are strictly prohibited.
• Delegates must bring their own cameras, laptops, and data cables for photo
editing and transfer.
• Basic manipulation such as colour-correction and exposure adjustment is
permitted. However, making collages or moving elements using Photoshop or
similar software is not permitted.

• Photographs may be coloured or monochrome/grayscale.

• Images captured in Round 2 must be presented as soft copies.

Round 1: Thematic Photography

• Delegates must bring a printed photograph that depicts one of the prescribed
themes, shared on our socials.

Round 2: Photo Walk

• Themes for this round will be provided at the end of Day 1.
• Delegates are tasked with taking photographs within the school premises.
• This is a timed round.

• Videos may be coloured or monochrome/grayscale.

Round 1: Thematic Photography

• Delegates are required to submit a video lasting between 45 to 90 seconds prior
to the event.
• The subject/theme for this round will be shared online 1 week prior to the event.

Round 2: Video Screening

• Themes for this round will be provided at the end of Day 1.
• Delegates are tasked with shooting their videos within the school premises.
• This is a timed round.
This is an elective category.
Delegate cap: 1-2 participants

• There are two compulsory rounds.

• Delegates have to bring their own cooking utensils, and ingredients.
• The management will only be providing cooking stations and a basic stove/oven.
• Delegates may bring written recipes.
• Both rounds will be graded on the merit of taste, complexity, creativity,
methodology and presentation.

Round 1: Sweet & Savoury

• Delegates will have one and a half hour to cook a dessert or appetizer.

Round 2: Continental Cuisine

• Delegates will have two and a half hours to cook a continental dish of choice.
• The dish must be representative of an international cuisine.

This is an elective category.

Delegate cap: none

Round 1: Comedy of Errors

• Delegates are required to prepare a comedic mime or skit with elements of theatre
and drama in their performance.
• In case of background music, participants must bring it in a virus free USB.
• Participants must come dressed in the costumes and bring along any necessary items
required for the performance. They may also bring change of clothes if required.
• Time Duration (for each performance): 3-5 minutes

Round 2: Theatre
• Delegates will be provided with a prompt at the end of Round 1 (on Day 1).
• They will be required to write and perform a script based on the prompt on Day 2.
