CABIN
Start crocheting in turning rows with the thread of
white color. Make ch19.

1 row: crochet from the second ch from the hook: 18sc,

ch, turn (18)
1-7 rows
2-7 rows: 18sc, ch, turn (18) - 6 rows.
When we finished row 7, don’t make ch and continue
crocheting across three sides of the piece:

8 round: work 2sc more into the last stitch (we should
get 3sc worked into the same stitch at the corner), 5sc
across the edge edge of turning rows, 3sc into 1 stitch,
16sc across the next side, 3sc into 1 stitch, 5sc across
the edge of turning rows, 2sc into one stitch (we
3sc worked into one stitch at the corner should get 3sc worked into one stitch at the corner -
one of them is the first stitch in row 7).

When crocheting the last stitch change the thread
color to light grey. Don’t cut the thread of white color.

Pay attention!
It’s better to change the thread color when working
into the last white stitch. Do it in this way:

Insert the hook into the last stitch and pull the thread
Change the thread color when of white color, then yarn over with a new color (grey)
crocheting the last stitch and pull it through both white loops on the hook (look
at the photo on the page side).

Now we should have got 54 stitches around the piece.

Continue crocheting around the piece we have made.
Shift the beginning of rounds to the middle point on the
next side. For this work 9sc into back loops of stitches.
Place marker (look at the photo on the page side).

9 round: into back loops only 45sc, into both loops 9sc

Now we are going to form a bending of the front part of

the cabin.

The marker should be located here

We will make increases starting from the next round. The
increases should be located on the front side of the cabin.
Please pay attention to the photo on the page side: the
points for increases are indicated with arrows.

10 round: into both loops of stitches 17sc, inc, 18sc, inc,

14 row: dec, 14sc, dec, ch, turn (16)
15-18 rows: 16sc, ch, turn (16) - 4 rows

When we finished row 18, don’t make ch and continue

crocheting around three sides of the piece:

19 round: work 2sc more into the last stitch where we have already worked 1sc (we should get
3sc worked into one stitch at the corner), 16sc across the edge of turning rows, 3sc into 1 stitch,
16sc across the next side, 3sc into 1 stitch, 16sc across the edge of turning rows, 2sc into one
stitch (we should get 3sc worked into one stitch at the corner - one of them is the first stitch of
round 18).

Now we should have got 74 stitches around the bottom. Cut the thread, fasten off.
BODY
Start crocheting n turning rows using the thread of white
color. Make ch21 and crochet from the second ch from the
hook.

1-34 rows: 20sc, ch, turn (20) - 34 rows

When we finish row 34, don’t turn the work and don’t

37-46 rounds: into both loops of stitches 112sc (112) - 10
rounds

Shift the beginning of rounds to the middle point on the

next side. For this work 6-7sc additionally. Place marker.
Now the beginning of rounds will be located here (look at
the photo on the page side).

Change the thread color to red when crocheting the next

stitch. Don’t cut the thread of white color. Place marker.

47-48 rounds: 112sc (112) - 2 rounds - when crocheting

the last stitch change the thread color to white, don’t cut
the thread of red color.
Crochet with the thread of white color:

48-52 rounds: 112sc (112) - 5 rounds - when

crocheting the last stitch change the thread color to
red, the thread of white color can be cut.

Crochet in red color:

53-55 rounds: 112sc (112) - 3 rounds
Cut the thread, leaving a very long thread tail for
sewing.

BODY BOTTOM
Crochet in turning rows with the thread of graphite color.
Make ch21 and crochet from the second ch from the hook.

1-34 rows: 20sc, ch, turn (20) - 34 rows

When we finished row 34, don’t turn the work and don’t
make ch, continue crocheting around three sides of the
piece:

35 round: work 2sc more into the last stitch where we have
already worked 1sc (we should have got 3sc worked into one
stitch at the corner), 32sc across the edge of turning rows,
3sc into 1 stitch, 18sc across the next side, 3sc into 1 stitch,
32sc across the edge of turning rows, 2sc into 1 stitch (we
should have got 3sc worked into one stitch at the corner -
one of them is the first stitch of row 34).
Now we should have got 112 stitches around the
bottom. Cut the thread and fasten off.

WHEELS
Crochet in a spiral. Each wheel consists of two
pieces. We need to make four wheels.

The first piece (4 pieces)

Start crocheting in white color:

1) 6sc in MR (6)
2) 6inc (12) - when crocheting the last stitch
change the thread color to black.
Crochet in black color:
3) (1sc, inc)*6 (18)
4) (2sc, inc)*6 (24)

Finish with sl st. Cut the thread and fasten off,

leaving a thread tail for sewing which is long
enough. The length of the tail is about 50cm.

The second piece is crocheted in black color. Make

4 pieces.

1) 6sc in MR (6)
3) 6inc (12)
3) (1sc, inc)*6 (18)
4) (2sc, inc)*6 (24)

Finish crocheting with slip stitch and cut the

thread.

Now we need to sew two pieces. Put the piece

with the white circle in the middle on the black
piece and sew them together. When joining the
pieces insert the needle three times into the same
stitch through both layers, as if we wind the thread
around the last round. Leave a thread tail for
sewing.
EMERGENCY LIGHTS
Start crocheting in red color:
1 round: 6sc in MR (6)
2-6 rounds: 6sc (6) - 5 rounds - when crocheting the last stitch
change the thread color to dark grey, don’t cut the red thread.

Crochet in dark grey color

7-9 rounds: 6sc (6) - 3 rounds - when crocheting the last stitch
change the thread color to red, the grey thread can be cut.

Crochet in red color.

10-15 rounds: 6sc (6) - 6 rounds
Cut the thread, leaving a thread tail for sewing. Now we need to
pull the opening closed. Pull the thread through front loops of
stitches using a needle, pull closed.

Leave a thread tail for sewing.

FRONT LIGHTS
Start crocheting in turning rows using the thread of yellow color.
Make ch4 and crochet from the second ch from the hook.

1-4 rows: 3sc, ch, turn (3) - 4 rows - when crocheting the last
stitch change the thread color to dark grey, then make ch with
the thread of new color. Don’t cut the thread of yellow color.
5-14 rows: 3sc, ch, turn (3) - 10 rows - when working the last
stitch change the thread color to yellow, then make ch with
the thread of a new color. Cut the grey thread, leaving a long
thread tail for sewing.

15-18 rows: 3sc, ch, turn (3) - 4 rows

After we worked the last stitch, don’t make ch and don’t turn.
Cut the thread, leaving a long thread tail for sewing.

CAB ASSEMBLY
At first prepare a piece of cardboard to strengthen the cab
bottom. Put the bottom on the cardboard and draw an
outline around it, then cut. Trim about 3-5 mm around the
edges to leave the space for sewing the bottom with the
main piece of the cabin.

If you want you can strengthen the cardboard piece with a

duct tape. It this case it will be less distorted when your kids
will be playing with the car. We will insert the cardboard
piece as we sew.

Now we are going to join the main piece of the cabin with
the bottom. Take a cabin and stuff it with fiberfill. Try to
give it a necessary shape. Don’t stuff too firmly, so that it
won’t lose the rectangular shape. Add fiberfill gradually,
with small portions, pay special attention to the piece
corners.

Now we need to do the most important part of the assembly:

to sew the bottom evenly. The side of the bottom, where we
fastened off the thread, should be located at the front side of
the cabin. We have 18 stitches across this side. I marked
them with pins for our convenience. They should coincide
with the front side of the bottom.

Join the corners of the cabin with the corners of the bottom
and start sewing. Hold the piece with the bottom facing up
when sewing.
If you placed the pieces evenly, then each of four
corners of the bottom will coincide with each corner of
the cabin. When three sides are sewn, insert the
cardboard piece and sew closed. Add fiberfill if needed
when sewing. Weave in the thread tail inside of the
cabin.

BODY ASSEMBLY
At first prepare a piece of cardboard to strengthen the
body bottom. Put the bottom on the cardboard and
draw an outline around it, then cut. Trim about 3-5 mm
around the edges to leave the space for sewing the
bottom with the body. If you want you can strengthen
the cardboard piece with a duct tape. It this case it will
be less distorted when your kids will be playing with the
car. We will insert the cardboard piece as we sew.

Now we are going to join the body with the bottom.

Take a body and stuff it with fiberfill. Try to give it a
necessary shape. Don’t stuff too firmly, so that it won’t
get a rounded shape. Add fiberfill gradually, with small
portions, pay special attention to the piece corners.

Now we are going to sew the bottom. Start sewing

from the middle point on the side, which is located on
the color changing line. Try to place the pieces evenly
and fix corners with pins. Make sure the corners
coincide.

Join three sides of the pieces and add more fiberfill if

needed. Insert the cardboard bottom. Sew the opening
closed. Fasten off and weave in the thread tail inside of
the piece.
Now sew the cabin to the body.
We need to join the pieces in the way that the red and
white stripes coincide.

At first sew across the bottom line. Make sure that the
pieces are evenly located. The cabin should be located in
the middle of the body side. Use the red thread for
sewing across the bottom line.

I sew inserting the needle under two stitches on the

body and under two stitches on the cabin.

Then make a pair of stitches up across the first red stripe.

Fasten off the thread and weave in the thread tails.

Take a white thread and sew white parts of the car with
the white thread across the whole perimeter. When using
the white thread, skip red stripes, because the white
stitches will be noticeable on them.
When the cabin is sewn, pull the white thread from the corner
of the window and make a stitch all across the grey part.
Embroider 4 stitches: two vertical stitches near the body and
two diagonal stitches at the corners on the front side (look and
the photos on the page side and above).
Sew the wheels.
Fix the wheels on the cabin and on the body with pins. Find
the location for the wheels, counting rows across the bottom.

The wheels on the cabin should be located between rows на 4

and 13 on the bottom (look at the photo on the page side).

The wheels on the body are located between rows 18 and 26

on the bottom (look at the photo on the page side).
The location of wheels on the cabin
If we look at the car side, the wheels are located, leaving
about two white rounds down from the top red stripe.

Sew the wheels, inserting the needle into the stitches on the
car and into the stitches on the wheel. Insert into one layer of
the wheel only, leave some space from the edge, so that the
stitches are invisible. Weave in the thread tails inside of the
toy.

The location of wheels on the body

Sew emergency lights.

Fix the piece on the cabin roof between rows 2 and 4. Sew it
carefully with the red thread, weave in the thread tail inside of
the toy.
Sew the front lights.
Fix the piece on the front side of the cabin with pins. Place it
exactly in the middle so that one round of the red stripe is
seen.

Sew the yellow part of the piece with the yellow thread, and
sew the grey part with the grey thread. At first sew one light
and run the thread to the other light, sew it. Then sew the top
edge of the grey stripe, try to hide the yellow strand, then sew
the lower edge. Weave in the thread tails inside of the toy.
DETAILS
Now we need to embroider the contours of doors,
handles, lights and blue crosses.

At first embroider the doors.

Take a thread of black color and divide it into

separate strands. Embroider using one thread.

Make two long vertical stitches. Make the first

stitch, leaving about 3 stitches from the cabin. The
second stitch - leaving 8 stitches from the first one.
The length of stitches - 16 rounds. Then make two
horizontal stitches, forming a rectangular shape.
Embroider handles on both sides from the top red
stripe. And also embroider the handles on the cabin.

You can also embroider two smaller doors near the

big door. I embroidered, leaving 1 stitch from the
first door. The height of the vertical stitches is 10
rounds. The width of both doors is about 6-7
stitches.

Make the same details on the other side of the

ambulance.
Embroider two swing doors on the back side of the
body.

At first make three vertical stitches with the length

of about 18 rounds, the distance between the
stitches equals 9 stitches.

Then embroider horizontal stitches and a pair of

handles.

Fasten off the threads and weave in the thread tails

inside of the car.

Take a blue thread and divide it into separate

strands. Embroider the blue cross using two strands.

The cross consists of one vertical and two diagonal

stripes. The width of one stripe is about 1 stitch.
Start sewing from the vertical stripe, leaving two
rounds from the red stripe. The length f the stripes is
7 rounds. Embroider each stripe with several
stitches, then make borders at the end of each
stripe.
Now embroider the lights on each side of the car
body. Use the yarn of yellow color. Divide the yarn
piece into separate strands. We will work with two
strands.

The width of one lamp is 2 stitches and the height

is 2 rounds. Make several horizontal and several
vertical stitches on your choice. Also embroider a
pair of lamps on the back side of the body.
That’s all, your ambulance is finished 🚑 hope it
will bring joy to you and your kids!
