Interfaces & Functions
Internally, all modules are electrically connected to the backplane using a 48-pin
connector on the rear side. In relation to the field connection (external devices),
two connectors are located on the front side.
According to the DO180 part number, the following ordering options are available
                               for field connection:
                                • Option C1: EMS74210: 24 Vdc relays with 3.81 mm terminal blocks.
                                • Option C2: EMS74220: 24 Vdc relays with flat ribbon.
The DO180 module includes the following:
                                • 16 independent free-contact digital outputs (DO) in two independent blocks.
Each DO can be configured as:
                                     ◦ Single: pulsed (fixed time) or preset (latched).
                                     ◦ Double: pulsed or preset.
                                • All DOs are SPST (Single Pole Single Throw) or NO (Normally open).
                                • External polarization of DO for each block. DO signals are polarized using
                                     24 Vdc.
                                • Polarization level is monitored for each block.

Software Processing
The DO180 manages standard digital signal controlled by a direct execution
command. They can operate as latched signals or pulsing variable pulse time.
These signals can be associated to simple or double points in coreDb.
The behavior of the system depends on the type of the signal. There are the
                               following types of signal:
                                • Simple digital output
                                • Double digital output
LED Indicators
The module integrates an auto check of the digital outputs that is performed when
powering the module or after a polarization interruption. This verification system
monitors polarization voltages, the general status of the module and
                               communication.
This information is shown through 20 LED indicators on the front of the module.

                    HAZARD OF INCORRECT EQUIPMENT OPERATION
                    • Do not place the CPU next to PS280 power supply module.
                    • Modules must be installed in vertical position.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.
Respect the following requirements to place the modules in the chassis or in the
                   backplane:
                    • When using the PS280 power supply module, place it in slot 1 (left-hand
side). In redundant-power supply configurations, use slots 1 and 2 for both
                        power supply modules.
Other modules can be located in any position (slot) within the chassis.
                    • Group the modules to minimize the adverse effects caused by noise and
                        heat.
                    • Place modules, and specifically CPU modules, as far as possible from the
modules which operate at alternating currents or high currents.
                    • If the system uses redundant CPUs, place both CPUs modules side by side in
                        the backplane.

HAZARD OF INCORRECT WIRING OR SUPPLIED VOLTAGE
                                      • Check that the voltage input for the backplane is 5.4 Vdc.
                                      • Check that there is no reverse polarity.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.
The PS280 module supplies power to the modules connected to the backplane, as
required. When using auxiliary power supplies, you need to scale them depending
on the installed PowerLogic T500 modules.
The consumption of all modules is added plus a safety margin (between 20% and
50% of the full power). The power supply efficiency, typically, 70 - 90%, is also
considered to protect the chassis and power supply from overloading.
The maximum power requirement for each DO180 module is:
                                      • Main power supply : Basic consumption (as indicated in the technical
specifications table at the end of the manual).

                   backplane (BP260).
The BP260 can detect an incorrect installation of the modules. However, some
configurations can work correctly even though the modules are not mounted
correctly. This situation creates a mechanical instability and might cause serious
                   problems.

                                                                        NOTICE
HAZARD OF INCORRECT MOUNTING OF MODULES
Ensure that configurations are working correctly and modules are mounted
                                      correctly.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.
The following figure shows two modules inserted on the backplane. One of the
modules is incorrectly inserted but this does not prevent its functioning.
PowerLogic T500 module incorrectly inserted on the left (shown with the red
ellipsis) and module correctly inserted on the right
To mount the module in the chassis or backplane, follow the instructions below:
                                      1. Switch off the power supply.
                                      2. Mount the module at the desired position, and if you are using a backplane,
verify that the rear rails are properly mounted using the pre-drilled holes on
                                         the backplane.
                                      3. Firmly press the module to ensure that the connector fits in to the backplane
connector properly. Check the module is correctly mounted onto the
                                         backplane base.
                                      4. Fix the module using the screw located at the top.
                                      5. Insert the terminal (mounting option C1) or flat ribbon connectors (mounting
                                         option C2).
Wiring DO180
A module can be easily replaced by disconnecting the two field-connectors and
removing the module from its slot.

Once the module is installed in the cabinet, to avoid jerking and the cable fall on
the terminal, due to their weight, join both cables with a plastic bracket. Then fix
them to the cabinet or the chassis.
Polarization
The digital outputs need a polarization voltage for operation.

The 16 outputs of the DO180 module are divided into two 8-input polarization
blocks. Each block can be polarized independently but both must have the same
                                     value.
The polarization of V1 and V2 voltages is supplied externally from the module.
Even if two power supplies are available, use only one power supply by bridging
the terminals. The terminal +V1 in connector B1 must be interconnected with the
terminal +V2 in connector B2 and the terminal -V1 in B1 with the terminal -V2 in

DO180 Configuration
The local acquisition device for PowerLogic T500 is named as laq and it is created
by default for each PowerLogic T500 configuration.
The first step to configure the acquisition is to ensure that the configured
backplane in the graphical interface is according to the system. Each module must
be addressed according the position of its microswitches. Refer Configuration
                                Switches, page 15.
The laq device supports communication between inputs and the outputs managed
by the acquisition blocks and coreDb points. To configure the acquisition settings,
include all IO modules in the backplane.
NOTE: The graphical interface does not show if the modules are mounted in
one or multiple backplanes. Communication and power supplies modules are
not included in the graphical schematic.

For each signal, the following parameters can be changed:
                                 • Type of signal: there are two types of signals:
                                     ◦ Simple digital output (DO_SIM)
                                     ◦ Double digital output (DO_DOB)
                                 • Latch: the possible values are Y or N.
                                     ◦ Y indicates that the signal is latched, that is, the associated command is
                                         permanent over time.
                                     ◦ N indicates that the signal is temporary, that is, the command is retained
for the time indicated in ExeTim field.
                                 • ExeTim: only available for signals that are not latched. Command timeout
(ms). After this time, the command is deactivated.
If any signal is set to a double digital signal, the next signal available is disabled
because a double signal takes two signals. The following figure shows the signal
                                DO_DOB_2 configured as double:

PowerLogic DO180 Configuration and Maintenance
The following figure shows digital outputs of the DO180 module in the command
                   table:
The coordinate is a unique identifier of a signal within a device. For digital outputs,
the coordinate is indicated as destination, with the following syntax:
                   2 BBB CC DDDD
                    • 2: digit that specifies coordinate for all PowerLogic T500 local acquisition
                        signals. It is always 2.
                    • BBB: three digits to indicate the point address according to the
communication protocol. In the case of Profibus-DP, the address ranges from
                        000 to 125.
                    • CC: type of signal:
                        ◦ 00: diagnostic signals of the acquisition modules
                        ◦ 05: simple digital output (1 bit)
                        ◦ 15: double digital output (2 bits)
                    • DDDD: incremented number of the signal within each type. It does not match
the physical position. The first signal of a type is 0000, the second is 0001
                        and so on.
For example, if a coreDb point has associated the signal 2003050002 as
destination, then it means that this point of coreDb executes a single command
                   (05) on signal (0002) of the module with address 003, according to Profibus-DP
                   (2) protocol.

Configuration and Maintenance PowerLogic DO180
                                 • The following diagnostic points are created in the status table for each D00x
                                     module:
                                     ◦ D00x_STS_COMM: associated coordinate 200x000000 (as source). The
value indicates with status of the module. Value 1 means that the CPU
cannot communicate with the D00x module.
                                     ◦ D00x_STS_DIAG: associated coordinate 200x000001 (as source). The
value indicates the diagnostics for the module. Value 1 means that the
module indicates a problem (diagnostic). Usually this status corresponds
                                         to a missing polarization.
                                     ◦ D001_STS_FAILBUS1: associated coordinate 200x000003 (as source).
The value indicates if a communication interruption in bus 1 has been
detected. Value 1 indicates a communication interruption in Profibus 1.
                                     ◦ D001_STS_FAILBUS2: associated coordinate 200x000004 (as source).
The value indicates if a communication interruption in bus 2 has been
detected. Value 1 indicates a communication interruption in Profibus 2.
To include a point manually, create a new point, select laq as Source Device,
click the right-button on the Source Coordinates field and select Launch Point
                                wizard:
Select the module in which you need to create these points and then select the
point to be created from the Point needed area.
NOTE: The points that are not created are shown in the Point needed list.
You can include these points directly in coreDb.
For example, if a coreDb point has assigned the signal 2003000000 as source,
the value of this point indicates the communication status of the module 003
                                (address).
The value of the signal 2007000004 changes to 1 when the communication with
                                the module 007 is lost.
For additional information regarding coreDb and operation with signals, refer to
                                the Easergy Builder user manual.

monitored for quality bits results from the sum of all. For example:
0x00000001 indicates that an overflow occurred and 0x00000002 indicates
that there was a carry on a counter or a roll-over. The value 0x00000003 is
                      monitored.
