                                                                                                Shawlettes in garter stitch are my
                                                                                             favorite: They look great in a colorful yarn,
                                                                                             they are squishy and warm your neck, and
                                                                                             they are so easy to knit that even beginners
                                                                                             will enjoy making them. This shawlette is
                                                                                             named “Easy” because it is just that: So
                                                                                             simple to knit, but the biased construction
                                                                                             and change of knitting direction will bring
                                                                                             out the best of a multicolored yarn. It is long
                                                                                             and skinny and can be wrapped around
                                                                                             several times, or tied with a knot – and it
                                                                                             uses only 459 yards of fingering weight yarn.
                                                                                                  Notes
                                                                                                  You start in one corner and knit a long
                                                                                             triangle until 50% of your yarn is used up.

                                • 3 mm circular needle , Length 80 cm
                                • Tapestry needle
                                Gauge
                                18 stitches = 10 cms / 4 inches in garter
                                stitch (exact gauge is not important)
                                Techniques
                                Casting on, knit and purl stitches,
                                increasing by kfb, knitting 2 together,
                                purling 3 together, binding off.

  Instructions
  Part I
  Cast on 5 stitches.
  Row 1: kfb, knit 2, knit 2 together.
                                                                        Abbreviation
  Row 2: purl 1, knit 3, kfb.
                                                                        kfb: knit once into front of loop, leave
  Row 3: kfb, knit to last 2 stitches,
                                                                        stitch on the left needle, knit once
         knit 2 together.
                                                                        into back of loop, slip stitch off left
  Row 4: purl 1, knit to last stitch, kfb.
                                                                        needle.
  Repeat rows 3 and 4 until 50% of your yarn is
  used up (that’s 50 g of a 100 g-skein).
  Continue with Part II.
  Part II
  Row 1: kfb, knit to last stitch, kfb.
  Row 2: purl 1, knit 1, purl 3 together, turn work.
  Row 3: slip 1 as if to knit, knit to last stitch, kfb.
  Row 4: kfb, knit to 2 stitches before the gap,
        purl 3 together, turn work.
  Repeat rows 3 and 4 until all stitches of Part I
  are knit up. Bind off loosely.
  Finishing
  Weave in ends. Wash and lay flat to dry,
  arranging the shawlette such that the edges
  and the line between the triangles are straight,
  fixing the shape with pins if desired.
