INSTRUCTIONS:
SECTION 1: CO AND CIRCULAR YOKE
With smaller needles, using the long tail cast-on method, CO 162 (162, 180, 180, 180) (198, 198, 198, 216) sts. Join in the
round being careful not to twist. PMM for BOR (center back).
Work CHART 1 LACE or CHART 1 TEXTURED depending on which version you chose (for written instructions to CHARTS, please
refer to Pages 11-14).
NOTES:
   • Work CHART 1 with smaller needles and make sure that one chart repeat is about 6 cm/2.5” wide.
   • CHART is worked from the bottom up, from right to left.
   • You will work 9 (9, 10, 10, 10) (11, 11, 11, 12) chart repeats per RND (you might want to place CM after each
       chart repeat for better tracking).
After finishing CHART 1, you still have 162 (162, 180, 180, 180) (198, 198, 198, 216) sts.
Switch to larger needles and continue with CHART 2 LACE (Page 7) or CHART 2 TEXTURED (Page 8).
NOTE regarding the yoke depth: If you prefer a shorter yoke, I recommend trying on your sweater after
completing RND 40 of Chart 2. If you feel you've reached your desired yoke depth, you may choose to finish
after RND 44. To do so, work RNDs 41 to 44 as follows: knit sts 1 to 17 of CHART 2, then work sts 18 to 36
acc. to CHART 2. Skip RNDs 45 to 63 of CHART 2, and continue following the instructions on Page 9.

AND ADDING LENGTH TO UPPER BACK
RND 1: k49 (54, 58, 64, 69) (75, 80, 85, 90), slip next 66 (70, 74, 84, 88) (94, 102, 108, 116) sts onto stitch holder, CO 4

Knit 1 RND.
Start neck shaping by adding length to upper back using Short Rows as follows (NOTE: I used the YO Short Row Method; you
can either use the same method or German Short Rows, or any other method you prefer. When using YO SR Method, YOs are
made at the turning point and are knit or purled together with the next st in the next row; they are not made for increases,
i.e. your stitch count remains the same throughout the whole SR-Section):
SR1 (RS): k48 (54, 59, 65, 70) (76, 81, 87, 93), turn.
SR2 (WS): yo, p to MM, SLMM, p48 (54, 59, 65, 70) (76, 81, 87, 93), turn.
SR3: yo, k to MM, SLMM, k to yo, k yo and next st as k2tog, k1 (1, 1, 1, 1) (1, 2, 2, 2), turn.
SR 4: yo, p to MM, SLMM, p to yo, work yo and the next st as ssp, p1 (1, 1, 1, 1) (1, 2, 2, 2), turn.
SR 5 and 6, 7 and 8, 9 and 10: rep SR 3 and 4.
Next RND: yo, k to MM, SLMM, k to yo, k yo and next st as k2tog, k to 1 st before yo, work this st and yo as ssk, k to end of
RND. If you are using another method of Short Rows, knit this RND closing the gaps as you normally do with your method.
SECTION 3: BODY AND HEM
Work in St st until your work measures 25 (25, 25, 25, 24) (24, 23, 23, 23) cm/10 (10, 10, 10, 9.5) (9.5, 9.25, 9.25, 9.25)”
from underarm (or your desired length minus 2 cm/0.75”).
Switch to smaller needles and work hem in Garter Stitch as follows:
RND 1: p.
RND 2: k.
Rep RNDs 1 and 2 three times more and work RND 1 once more (you have 5 garter ribs). BO loosely.

between the underarm sts and the sleeve sts, knit 66 (70, 74, 84, 88) (94, 102, 108, 116) sts from the stitch holder, pick up
and knit 1 st between the underarm sts and the sleeve sts, pick up and knit 2 (3, 5, 5, 6) (6, 7, 8, 9) sts from underarm (you
have 72 (78, 86, 96,102) (108, 118, 126, 136) sts on your needles).
PMM for BOR.
SHORT SLEEVE VERSION:
Knit in the RND until your sleeve measures 7 cm/2.75” or your desired length minus 2 cm/0.75“.
LONG SLEEVE VERSION:
Knit in the RND, working Decrease RND* every 20th (16th, 12th, 9th, 8th) (7th, 6th, 5th, 5th) RND 3 (1, 4, 8, 10) (10, 11, 24,

*Decrease RND: SLMM, k1, k2tog, k to 3 sts before MM, ssk, k1.
Continue until your sleeve measures 42 cm/16.75” from underarm (or your desired length minus 2 cm/0.75”).
BOTH VERSIONS:
Switch to smaller needles and work cuff the same way your worked hem.
Rep for second sleeve.
FINISHING
Weave in ends and block to measurements. If you would like to stabilize the neckline, you might want to insert an elastic thread into
the first RND of twisted ribbing.
The top is finished! #xyratop
