Sydney Carlin (Democratic Party) is a member of the Kansas House of Representatives, representing District 66. She assumed office in 2003. Her current term ends on January 11, 2027.

Carlin (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Kansas House of Representatives to represent District 66. She won in the general election on November 5, 2024.

Biography

Sydney Carlin was born in Wichita, Kansas. She attended Neosho County Community College and earned a bachelor's degree from Kansas State University. Carlin has career experience as an office manager with the Manhattan Country Club. She has been elected to serve on the city commission and as the mayor of Manhattan, Kansas. Carlin has been a member of "The Martin Luther King Committee, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonists, PEO, Konza Prairie Quilters Guild, American Association of University Women a charter member of the Fairy Godmothers Foundation, and co-founder of the Manhattan Women 4 Kansas."[1]

Carlin refused to take Project Vote Smart's 2008 Political Courage Test. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 2, 2014. On November 4, 2008, Carlin was re-elected to the 66th District Seat in the Kansas House of Representatives, defeating Dee McKee (R).[12] Carlin raised $50,411 for her campaign, while McKee raised $18,706.[13]

Sydney and her husband, John, have four children. She is a member of a number of community organizations, including the American Cancer Society, American Legion Society, Fraternal Order of the Police, Habitat for Humanity, Heart Association, and the Manhattan Arts Center.[14]
