Banished Knight

Another figure I finished a few weeks ago and only got around to posting the photos up on here! Dam I'm getting slow lol!

Anyway this is a mercenary unit for the game Relics by Tor Gaming you can't actually purchase this guy as he was part of a game funder exclusive a year or so ago. Its my favourite sculpt out of the range so far another Banished Ridened knight he can be taken by any faction except of course the Ridened themselves. There quite cool characters though the rules are only in beta at the moment.

Totally forgot to post this guy up on the blog. I finished him back in April!! But forgot to take pics and found him last night whilst sorting out my storage boxes.

I introduce Sire Bilge the red knight. Lost his Kapolop Figgins at the battle of King Jorje's hill. Eaten by an Orcnar Beorn known as Spudicus.

Brummville Garrison Mounted Division

Well the final entries for my Tournament force are completed. Two units of Dragoon. One Standard Dragoons and one of Heavy Dragoons. These were a lot of fun to paint up especially the Heavies. At the moment I'm tweaking my army list switching units around to match up to the criteria for the 3 rounds to be fought over. I'm hurriedly trying to finish the objective markers this week eek I forgot! These will just be plain stones for now. I'll try and add some runes and glow stuff after.

Currently the force that I'm taking is as follows the 300 pt list is for Game 1, Game 2 adds the 100pts as reinforcements. Both will be combined for Game 3.

The Ridened are coming!! (New Relics Faction)

Who are the Ridened? 

The Ridened are the goblins of the world of Relica and are due out in May (At Games Expo) They will be the fifth playable faction.  I have so been looking forward to this release ever since I saw the concepts for them and the mercenary unit the Banished Knights. Below is some of the concept art that been shown on the Tor Gaming blog and facebooks pages/groups. I've shared some fiction written and posted as well.

As you can see (this is the Gamefunder only version which I have and he is lovely) the Banished knights are really close to the concept art. Below I've got put up some more concept art of the Ridened Faction planned units. There are rumours of quite a big release at expo. The Baron, Archers, Foot Knights, Kapalop Knights, Watch tower Dragon and maybe the Tropum Knights Squeeeee can't wait.



An introductory short story that appeared a few days ago.

“That’s beside the point anyway Bhogg, it’s a bigger concept than a simple comparison between beasts. It is a notion that will light a fire in the bellies of our entire race!” Bhogg feigned a smile and nodded awkwardly.

“It is the spirit of the heart Bhogg! Dormant in the souls of our people since the dawn of time, it is awakening and finally we shall have a chance to reclaim the Sangreal!”

The passion in Trokees words sent a shiver up Bhoggs spine, although he still barely understood what they meant. He chose his next words cautiously. “So what now then Trokee, what does it all mean?”

Trokee stared intently into the eyes of his comrade as he spoke. “It means the Final Crusade is at its dawn Bhogg, and all the impurities of this world shall finally be purged from it. Word should be sent far and wide to all those who would dare to make us their enemies, the time for retribution draws close; and we shall ride for glory to take all that is rightfully ours!”

Bhoggs face lit up with delight. “War? Is that what you mean Trokee?”

Trokee could not help but laugh at his companion.

“Yes indeed Sir Bhogg, war; war for the Lady and war for the Sir; war for the Hags dwelling deep in the Myrh!”

Both Knights were laughing now as they continued their twilight journey through the dreary woods.

Ridened Barons

In battle the Ridend Barons stalk the fields, directing the brave Ridendean warriors onward into the thick of the fighting. Each accompanied by two of their most loyal Men-at-arms, one bearing the Ridend Barons own personal Coat of Arms and the other acting as musician/signaller, each baron is an inspiring sight to behold. Such divine oaths of loyalty are commanded by the Ridend Barons that those who swear to serve them will not hesitate to march head on into certain doom if they should be ordered to do so.

Ridend Archers – Goblins and bows, classic.

In traditional Ridendean warfare the bow and arrow was looked down upon by the upper classes as being a dishonourable weapon and to employ archers against an opponent of virtue was seen to be a terrible weakness of character and judgement. In modern day Relicia however, the Ridendean nobility has found very little by the way of honour and virtue amongst their enemies and the reluctance they once had in using archers has long since faded into obscurity.

Not a Dragon in the traditional sense but the Ridend think it’s a mighty beast so they make use of it in several roles, this is the first.

Britanan Dragoons and More Dragoons.

Well more work continues on the Britanan Force for the tournament at the end of this month. Busy weekend again has no time for hobby but got a little bit done last night,

The Dragoons are going to have a Blue uniform with gold and silver helmets. Not quite sure what colour to do the plumes. I think once I've base coated them fully I can make a better decision on it. Still not got any further with the Heavies since the last post. They'll be at least be primed this week,

Relics Britanan February Challenge minis completed.

Wow over a week without a blog post!! Well apologies have been mega busy with one thing or another and what free time I have had has been spent on painting etc.

Anyway I have finished off the bulk of the infantry for my Britanan army that are going to be used for the tournament at the end of March.

I have 5 highlanders to paint but after finally deciding pretty much what will be in the final 400pt list they couldn't be squeezed in effectively without messing up the composition. This was mainly due to the middle game of the day when the force is split 300;ts with 100pts of reinforcements I couldn't take a full size unit and it couldn't be broken down (points wise) and still leave a decent sized unit.

Anyway apologies pics where a bit rushed as the weather has been crap for out door pics this week. These are also my entry on the Tor Gaming Forums February Painting Challenge. A winner is selected at random from the entries and wins a store voucher :)

 The three Company Sergeant Majors. It occurred to me that the one with rifle would make a good proxy for a marksmen! Hmmm I shall have to put some more thought into that.

 A second unit of Grenadiers. I love these models they are quite a tough unit as well from what i've read and some youtube game reports I have watched. They have 2 damage each and equipped with short ranged grenade launchers with a special Area of Effect attack,

 The humble troopers and the mainstay of the army. When funds allow these will get expanded to full strength of 9 and you can add on a Colour Party (Standard bearer and Drummer) which expands the unit to 11 and adds on some special rules for morale and movement. (when funds allow)

Next up for March's painting challenge and the second half of my force is cavalry. Two more units require doing for it and also require to be finished for the tournament. The Dragoons and Heavy Dragoons. You already saw the Dragoons a few weeks back they are now built and undercoated ready to be painted. The Heavy Dragoons also arrived this week and so I have had my first proper play with Resin miniatures.

 The normal Dragoons. I only have the four at the moment but they can be expanded upto full size of 6. I will be taking a  small unit of 3 to the tournament (point juggling).

Next up the Heavy Dragoons I love these figures!!! Possible my favourites out of the entire range so far I think. These guys are big (in comparison to the rest of the Britanans) they are on 40mm bases and fill them quite nicely. I wasn't sure what to expect when I saw the renders for these as I had only really seen the normal dragoons (on 30mm bases) and was thinking they would look small on 40mm bases. But now I have them in hand I can see they live up to 'Heavy' Dragoons name. They are shock Cavalry they have no ranged attack but have a nice combat score of 3 each but have some cool rules where this can be buffed upto a whopping 5 dice each on the charge (providing certain things happen).

 Maximum unit size for these guys is 4. You get two different sculpts but they come with separate arms and wheels and a main body. All I've done is switched the sword arms over and changed the angle and I think they have turned out nicely.

With them being heavy I decide to make track as if the weight if them is pressing down in to the ground.

Relics Britanan Progress

Well its half term and I have the kids this week. A nasty bug that the kids picked up over the weekend has scuppered all my plans for taking them out and doing the activities I had planned. So we have been doing daft stuff like making rice crispy cakes and doing painting, playing with play doh.

It has meant I've had time to get a good couple of sessions in on the Brummville Garrison. I think another couple of sessions and I'll have them ready to be based :D Reinforcements have been dispatched from Tor Gaming Towers so I should have nearly 500pts to choose from with what I have already.

This is one of my favourites from the Britanan range its the Company Sergeant Major 2 and comes with 3-4 left and right hand options. I've gone with the spear and pistol like on the Tor site just because I like the look of him. The chest I've painted blue as I've only got 5 highlanders and he can be a stand in as a sixth member to max the unit to full size when needed. I hope to get around to getting another highlander I quite fancy converting a caber tossing model just for it to look fun.

Brumville Garrison Progress

Well I have received my trade package of Britanan and Orcnar forces for Relics. Work has begun feverishly preparing, basing and priming them this week. Blocking in the base colours has begun and I just need to do another coat of red on them all and tidy up 3-4 of them.

My reinforcement column has been despatched from Tor Gaming so should be with me any day. I've got the Dragoons prepared and have converted a couple to make them more different. (these have only the two bodies and with two different rear ends its a bit restrictive with just swapping arms over especially when there are 6 in a full unit.

Based and Primed this Is what I plan to have finished by end of February (maybe the dragoons but we'll see). 

Addition of a sword in scabbard to this Company Sergeant Major makes him stand out more as a character than just the rifle.

 Can't see it really in this pic the have different rears and the left arms are different with the right hand side one receiving a spare arm from the Royal Arcanum Guard I had finished already. It looks more like he is holding it.

 Rather than having lots of sword armed dragoons (there are a shooting hit and run type unit.) I decided to convert another one with a carbine but holding it differently. So I decided to have a go at sculpting on replacement arms. The guns are spare from the Company Sergeant Majors weapons choices. Just with there connection pip removed and a hole drilled in.

The four finished dragoons. The one with the new arms has had cuffs added. Next step with them is to file down the arms and smooth them out a bit more.

Worcester Wargames Club Relics Tournament Objective markers

 Well this week the tournament pack was posted and having a read through its going to be a lot of fun. A list of various items (besides an army of course) was also listed and one of those things was that some stone objective markers for the final game would be needed.

So whilst I am waiting for my company of fluffy men to arrive I decided to set about this part of the project with gusto to get it done whilst twiddling ones thumbs. They'll also come in handy for other games.

The four larger stones mounted on 40mm bases will basically will be put out in a North, East, South, West of the centre of the board of which the 30mm based stone will be located.

I decided to make the four pillars quite tall and the central one I have made a stone table. I shall have a go at etching some runes or lines into the pillars and paint them with an OSL effect as if there is magic coursing through them. Well that is the plan anyway :)



With it being brighter but colder this week I have managed to get some decent photos of my first few Britanan's again. So for you viewing pleasure see them below.

The next post will be about some more post apoc ruins I've been working on. They just need the final touches adding to get them finished off for the weekend.
