Walking Dead All Out War Days Gone Bye expansion

Had a good couple of painting sessions Friday and this morning and managed to get the next 6 finished off.

These 6 are from the Day's Gone Bye expansion and are included in the KS set I bought. Comprising of Dale, Jim, Allen and his partner Donna. Two walkers finish off the set. The female cop and punk walkers. I really like the unique zombies that come in each booster and expansion.

I bought some more Walking Dead off ebay this week. Managing to get the Prelude to Woodbury, Michonne, Tyresse Prison Advisor Boosters and Ezekiel Booster.

I just have one character left from the kickstarter. The main man of the Saviours Faction Negan. I love the pose of this version of Negan the other models are nice don't get me wrong I just love this one more and is probably one of the main reason I decided to buy into the game by getting the KS Version of the set. Not only was it a cost saving on getting the boosters etc individually but I got all the Exclusives to meaning I can save the mantic points for later use.

Walking Dead All Out War Lori Booster

Rapidly approaching the end of the Kickstarter box now it seems have started the last eight figures after finishing the latest trio.

This time its the Lori booster finished comes with the cool half zombie that Rick first meets in the comics outside the hospital and one who he returns to and puts out of its misery before setting off to find his family.

The pack comes with of course Lori and has a guy called Craig in it. I can't place him in the timeline yet. I am re reading the comics at the moment and he hasn't popped up yet. Bit of a tricky one to pics of due to his sort of twisting pose. Really nice figure to paint he has got lots of nice details to do.

Coming up next is the KS/Mantic Points Michonne I have got her base colours done. Just need to begin the washes and highlights.

The Day's Gone Bye Expansion figures have been mounted up on bottles and I have begun the eyes and skin.

I've also got all the Supply Counters and Barricades primed up and ready for painting. At some Point I need to start the cars to.

Walking Dead All out War Walker Booster 2

More progress on the kickstarter set 6 more zombies finished off! I have gone through the website and figured out what I do and don't have. All the zombies done so far have been either from the core box set of the Walker Booster. The Roamer set I don't have so will go on the purchase list. It duplicates some I already have but I am sure they will come in handy.

I have made solid progress on the next booster as well hoping to finish that one over the weekend and maybe one of the Mantic Point/Kickstarter exclusive figures that come in the set.

Walking Dead All out War Walker Booster 1

Yep more Walking Dead All Out War finished off. This time a batch of zombies which I must admit have been rather fun to paint up. I have played about with different skin tones and using ink tone washes to colour some items just to see what they turn out like.

Again these aren't exactly what you would get in the retail boosters as I have just sort of grabbed six walkers/roamers at random.

I have the next six walkers started as I am enjoying them and hope to have them done by the weekend.

Across The Dead Earth Multi Player game. Against The Tide.

Last Friday saw myself and a group of friends meet up at the Stourbridge Wargames club for a large multi player game of Across the Dead Earth organised by Neil Jones.

Here is a link to the game setup.

A huge horde of Sollus are advancing across the land. Several gangs have taken casualties and are fileeing the hordes relentless advance. The gangers are tired and need to find somewhere to rest up and escape the horde. Spying some buildings on the horizon the gangs head cautiously across the ruins searching for food or other items that might prove useful and praying they don't find more Sollus.

All we had been told prior was to create two characters each (up to 120pts total so roughly 60pts and no leader skill) and that it was going to be all of us vs the Sollus (zombies). Leader skill would be handle differently and would change from round to round. In the end 2 people couldn't make it so we increased the number of characters of the 3 Scavenger players to 3.

Fortunately me not being able to decide what models to use I had had created an extra crew and brought all my Copplestone Biker minis so was able to re skin a character and use one of my bikers.

Some Rules were added and or changed.
When arriving within 6 inches of a building or ruin a D6 was rolled and this determined how many Sollus were lurking. At the end of each round the Sollus got there turn and each gang player rolled a D6 and these Sollus arrived on from the table edges.

Event cards were dealt to the 3 gang players as normal but instead of a normal hand of 3 we had 2 in play at once.

Leadership was dealt with by firstly rolling off on 2xD6 with the highest score electing one of his gangers as leader for the round gaining the order, extra action and +2 toughness. In the following rounds a vote was done. This was based on how many models you within 12 inches of the previous rounds leader. Each of your models gave you 1 vote. You then picked a model yours or your allies to be leader for the round. (in case of a draw between votes you dice off on 2D6 until one person wins)

We also had secret missions which were a random choice  out of 6. I forget what the others had but mine was Napoleon Complex. In the final turn of the game one of my gangers had to be elected as leader and one of my gang had to survive.

The table set up. The Northern Edge is over on the far side with the farm and out houses. We deployed our gang members along an 18 inch zone along the Southern table edge.. My 3 bikers entered on the road. Jon's 3 in the ruins to the right of the stream.  The other guy (apologies I have forget his name :( ) Deployed to the left of the road.

Numerous crates where spread around and a random loot counter was drawn from a mug.

Dice were rolled and Adam is leader for round one. Advancing forward a number of Sollus are disturbed in the large ruin. Rage quickly torches them with his flame thrower. Skylar sweeps her way up the steps search for lott on the first floor.

The rest of the gangers advance up the road towards the central ruin.

A few Sollus groan and stumble out of the building and are put down by Chas's Smg and Dave's Shotgun.
A number of Sollus drawn by the gunfire follow their way up the road  and begin to separate and surround the gangs
Adam is brought down by a Sollus and Rage kicks down a Sollus and burns the rest with his flame thrower.

Unable to break free and help Adam. The Sollus begins to feast and Adam joins the ranks of the undead.

Searching the ruins Jon's scout finds a message 'Salvation to the North' The gangers take out the Sollus and form a retreating firing line. Rage and Skylar weave there way through the ruin and head North torching and smashing and burning Sollus left and right in their path.

A fusillade of grenades and nail bombs. Disables enough of the trailing Sollus to give the gangers some breathing space

Jon's broadsword wielding maniac gets pinned down by the Sollus and cuts them down left right and centre in a desperate fight to let the others escape.
Skylar reaches the Barn and a sister appears brandishing a hand cannon. Blue boy rushes over and the surprised sister guns him down thinking his intentions are not the best (Failed Skill check). However seeing Skylar fighting of a Sollus joins forces. The nun advises of a old pre war bunker hidden in the ruins of an old truck to the East.

My Bikers fight a retreat heading towards the Barn. Finding out about the bunker they begin to whittle down the Sollus in their path.

Jons Scout is cornered and pulled down  by a group of Sollus but not wanting to turn in to one of them he pulls a pin on a grenade blasting them and his foes to smithereens. (Got beaten in combat and when they went for the kill used his Sacrifice card).

Jon's Broadsword wilder gets completely surrounded and is eventually pulled down by sheer weight of numbers.

We were running out of time by this point. Taking pictures was forgotten to get the game finished before we need to pack up.

I managed to gain leadership in the final round and despite being charged by several Sollus near the truck wreck I managed to disengage from them and escape!

I managed to escape with my gang leader achieving both my Secret objectives and taking 15pts of loot with me.

The game was a good laugh and there was some really cinematic moments. However I think Neil (controlling the zombies) was hoping we would play less co-op between and more back stabbing went on. Perhaps next time with more players it will go that way.

Highlights for me was the Rage (named that because he had the Rage skill) who managed to burn everything that got in his way and when caught in combat used his Rage to kick the crap out of everything.

Jon's broadsword wielder was awesome and hacked down loads of Sollus only the lack of spare actions  and passing of skill tests in order to kill off the Sollus being the reason she went down in the end.

The Scout using the Sacrifice card was well timed taking out good chunk of sollus near the Barn preventing them from getting back up like the others.

All my gang survived despite a few hairy moments. They fought really well shooting and scrapping there way across the table.

Neil is planning another meet up next month in February so fingers cross we can all make it again as it was thoroughly enjoyable.

I am hoping in the meant time to strip and rebase my bikers for next time as they are the first figures I painted when returning to the hobby and are a bit rough shall we say!

Walking Dead AoW Sandra and Patrick

Production slowed down the last few weeks have been mega busy and had some sort of lurgy which has just left me feeling way too tired at night to sit and paint for much time. Can't seem to shake it but managed to get concentrate on a couple of miniatures and get a few more Walking Dead figures done. Some more survivors finished this time round a 'Runner' Sandra and Patrick a 'Bruiser' class character.

Derek and Leon are not far off completion and provided I don't get distracted should be ready in another session or so.

Zomtober Week 5. The end!

Only managed to get 3 survivors finished from the Walking Dead All Out War game this week. Have been busy painting......the kitchen LOL. So yeah not had much time this week as the other half is hosting a Jewellry party for a friend which originally was meant to be the week after but has been brought forward a week..

I did get the next 8 cleaned, based and primed. In the end I decided the textured GW paint was to expensive and use my normal Milliput method of basing. I have ran out of varnish so when I get some will be adding a bit of flock and some tufts to add a bit of greenery.

I decided to go for a brown bases being as most of the Walking Dead is set in rural areas and will fit in on my own post apoc board. I have some barricades done already and a few cars. I plan to pick up some tents from Renedra and have got some trees I need to base up as I prefer 3D terrain over the card stuff provided in the game. Mats i'm still not sure on yet. I need to put my thinking cap on about them. I'd love my own boards but then its always vs Time to so!

Sophia and Carol

Abraham currently the only version and was a Kickstarter exclusive but is currently available for Mantic Points.

These guys again but based, I have dirtied them up a bit and much happier with them now.

Whats next well more Walking Dead All out War figures. There are a lot more Survivors in the next row I am doing. We have Rick and Carl. Derek, Patrick and Sandra some Survivors from Woodbury or raiders I think that Rick and Co cross in the comics.  A guy called Leon who I am trailing back through the comics to find and 2 more zombies. So another 8 in total. I am hoping to have as many as I can finished by Christmas.

Thanks to all who participated this year there has been some awesome efforts by many of you all. Well done!

Zomtober Week 4 Zombies at last!

Didn't all go to plan this week, Had hope to get Abraham, Sophia and Carol finished also but not got them to a point where I am happy just yet. The bases aren't finished on these yet I am planning on getting some the GW Texture paints and having a play but it will have to wait until payday. Eventually the bases will have some sort of texture with grass and tufts added. The base rims will probably be done in black.

The game is pretty cool I am enjoying it a lot. I've also been catching up with the comics to the point where I am upto date with the tv series. (Well nearly just meeting Ezekiel in the comics).  Its nice to see how spot on the likenesses are to some of the characters visually as well as the events unfolding/tweaked between the two.

I think moving forward from Zomtober going to try and get a survivor and two zombies a week done time being available. Hopefully I well get the 3 Survivors done and get some others started for next weeks final post.

Zomtober Week 5 Studio Miniatures Survivors and Zombie

Making up for last weeks fail I have made a bigger effort this week and managed to get 3 figures finished.

First up is a duo both a Survivor and Zombie version of the same character. These were from the kickstarter I backed last year. Chandler or 'Not Carl' and his zombie version are available now but in different packs. The Zombie Carl is now in Zombies Character III and Chandler is now with Andy 'Not Rick'. I really like the idea of  having characters and there zombie versions. The only mildly annoying thing is they are sculpted by different sculptors and are slightly different sizes.

The third character is one of my favourites from the Walking Dead and like most of the originals ......dead. LOL Well here is a very alive version of 'Scott ' or Hershel as he is better known as. What I like about this miniature is you can him with and without his leg!

This Zomtober despite me missing a week has been quite productive. 7 Figures in total. 4 of which have lurked on the painting table for a very long time!
