Calendar Give-away

The oil delivery company left a beautiful 13 month wall calendar. I don't use paper calendars anymore. I thought someone might like to have it or use as collage fodder in their artwork

Leave a comment if you would like the calendar. If more than one person wants it, I'll draw the names out of the proverbial hat. Comments accepted until Wednesday, November 30, 2022 until Noon EST

The calendar recipient will be announced on Thursday's blog post, December 1, 2022

A Prize

Last month, Lady Caer Morgana from For the Love of Cats  and The Wiccan Life had a raffle for one of two black cat prizes. A fuzzy black cat pillow and a black cat candle holder and candle. You know me, a sucker for a black cat. So I put my name in the hat for the little, candle holder.

I don't use candles in the house. Ink loved to know things off tables and I was always worried he'd be fascinated by a candle flame. So no candles. I thought I could repurpose the holder to use as a small ink well.

My Lady contacted me to say I had won, and she would get the package out in the mail. But what was this package? It was so big and wrapped as if it was holding the crown jewels.

The black cat candle holder with a gold taper and a lot bigger at 8 inches high than I expected. My bad. Not my Lady's. I should have asked about the size.

As it turned out, it holds one of the Dinky Dip cups I use.

Thank you again, my Lady. The holder is really quite beautiful.

The Prize

There seems to be some confusion when I announced in The Friday Five Good Things, I had won a major award. I didn't mean I won a major award like a Nobel Prize or was appointed Poet Laureate. What I referenced was a line from A Christmas Story where Ralphie's father receives a notice in the mail that he won a contest. He dances around the kitchen shouting, "A major award. Hot damn, I won a major award." (Or words to that effect.) (-:

I won a Mother's Day blog contest sponsored by author, Sandra Cox. Sandra writes young adult fantasy, crossover young adult, historic and paranormal romance, and metaphysical nonfiction.

It was a pleasure to look forward to receiving mail that wasn't a bill, and Friday the package arrived. Sandra included her book, Akasha, about a mother's sacrifice to save her child, and a cute, multi-colored, ceramic, pawprint bracelet from The Animal Rescue Site.

Thank you, Sandra, for the goodies. Ink and I are enjoying the book. He likes to wedge himself between me and a book when I read. I wore the bracelet to a meeting and received lots of compliments.

You can visit Sandra at her blog or her website.

The Friday Five

1. Last week, Erica made cute log cabin potholders for her book signing giveaway.

2. I can't sew, but I'm hell on wheels with a glue stick.

3. This is my 900th. post. Who would have thought I could be so wordy? Don't answer that!

4. To celebrate, I'm giving away my version of a log cabin quilt square. Leave a comment, and I'll put your name in the cowboy hat for a chance to win.

5. Contest winner will be announced on Tuesday.

Do you sew? Have you made a quilt?

Ornament Give Away

I'm on a roll! The past couple of weeks, I've won some wonderful blog contest prizes. Thank you to: Myra Johnson for her novel Autumn Rains. A lovely story and a delightful read. The contest for the book was sponsored by Erica Vetsch. Thanks to Tricia Goyer and Mike Yorkey for their exciting novel The Swiss Courier. I'm almost to the middle of this page turning novel. This contest was sponsored by Georgiana Daniels . Saturday I found I won an Old Farmer's Almanac calendar from the ladies at Seekerville. My head is so big from these wins, I'll have to wear two cowboy hats!

I had so much fun, I thought I'd pass the fun along. Leave a comment, and you'll have a chance of winning a lovely Christmas ornament suitable for gift giving. ("Mom", "Grandma", "Grandpa", "Nana", "Joy", "Baby" also available. Designs and colors may vary.) Names will be drawn from the cowboy hat and the winner will be announced on Wednesday's blog. I have no problem sending the ornament outside US borders, but I can't guarantee you will have it in time for gift giving.

What do you think of blog contests? Do you like them? Hate them? Let me know.
