Doodling for Stress Reduction

On Mondays via Zoom, I participate in a class where we spend a half an hour doodling our stress away.

The suggestion for this class started with a neurographic scribble and then to fill in the counterspaces with doodles. The facilitator said she was thinking of the Summer Solstice.

We are always free to interpret the instructions as we wish. My head was buried in my suitcase as I was getting ready to leave on my trip to Maine. I was filling the spaces with doodles of things I see and do on the trip. It's still a work in progress.

Doodling for Stress Reduction

On Mondays via Zoom, I participate in a class where we spend a half an hour doodling our stress away.

The suggestion for this class started with four petal shapes. The facilitator added other petals in the spaces. Then she doodled designs in the petals.

We are always free to interpret the instructions as we wish. For some reason whenever I see a four petal flower shape, I always think of butterflies.

Doodling for Stress Reduction

On Mondays via Zoom, I participate in a class where we spend a half an hour doodling our stress away.

Since the weather is predicted to be hot by the end of the week, the suggestion for the doodle was to draw ice cream or frozen treats.

We are always free to interpret the instructions as we wish. I thought of Teague and I getting ice cream last week when the temps. were close to 90°.

Doodling for Stress Reduction

On Mondays via Zoom, I participate in a class where we spend a half an hour doodling our stress away.

The suggestion for the class was to draw an umbrella, divide the umbrella into panels, and doodle in each panel. Then to draw some raindrops and doodle in them.

We are always free to interpret the instructions as we wish. I think I was channeling Robin's Robin Jr.

Doodling for Stress Reduction

On Mondays via Zoom, I participate in a class where we spend a half an hour doodling our stress away.

The suggestion for the class began with a quote from artist, Paul Klee. "A line is a dot that went for a walk." The doodle began with a border and a scribble. In the round or oval shapes, to draw petal shapes. The space behind the petals could be colored black or some other color.

We are always free to interpret the instructions as we wish. I wrote out the quote and then drew the petal shapes as flowers.

Doodling for Stress Reduction

On Mondays via Zoom, I participate in a class where we spend a half an hour doodling our stress away.

The suggestion for the class was to draw a border.  Inside the border to draw arches. In the arches to draw some lines, and then to doodle inside the arch. I used circles or bubbles and then colored in the larger circles.

Doodling for Stress Reduction

On Mondays via Zoom, I participate in a class where we spend a half an hour doodling our stress away.

The suggestion for the class was to draw a border.  Inside the border to divide the paper with a zig zag and then to doodle in triangle spaces.

We are always free to do our own thing. I saw pennants and then wrote some aspirations.

Doodling for Stress Reduction

On Mondays via Zoom, I participate in a class where we spend a half an hour doodling our stress away.

The suggestion for the class was to draw a border.  Inside the border to draw some organic shapes. In between the shapes to draw crescents going this way or that way.

Inside her shapes, she drew some flowers. While she was demoing the project she mentioned something about googly eyes and that got stuck in my head.

Doodling for Stress Reduction

On Mondays via Zoom, I participate in a class where we spend  a half an hour doodling our stress away.

The suggestion for the class was to draw a grid.  From the corners, draw a simple, daisy-type flower. Part way through the exercise, the petals reminded me of bunny ears.

Doodling for Stress Reduction

On Mondays via Zoom, I participate in a class where we spend  a half an hour doodling our stress away.

The suggestion for the class was to draw a spiral and doodle around it. The example the facilitator showed reminded me of flowers. I add the poem because we were getting snow showers.

Spring has sprung,
the grass is riz,
I wonder where the flowers iz?

Doodling for Stress Reduction

On Mondays via Zoom, I participate in a class where we spend  a half an hour doodling our stress away.

This week's suggestion was to start with a wavy line, add circles, and doodles. This was a very relaxing doodle. It reminded me of stringing beads when I was a kid.

Doodling for Stress Reduction

On Mondays via Zoom, I participate in a class where we spend  a half an hour doodling our stress away.

This week's suggestion was to start with a circle border filled in with wavy lines. Instead of filling the wavy lines with patterns, I decided to use a couple of March quotes inspired by Robin for pointing out that March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb. Also added: No Winter lasts forever. No Spring skips its turn and March forth into Spring.

Doodling for Stress Reduction

On Mondays via Zoom, I participate in a class where we spend  a half an hour doodling our stress away.

The theme for this week was "light". The quote in the tangled bulbs reads: In the chaos be the light.

Doodle for Stress Reduction

On Mondays via Zoom, I participate in a class where we spend  a half an hour doodling our stress away.

The suggestion for the doodle was to draw wavy lines and then doodle between them. We are always free to go our own way. Since I'm working on Christmas card designs, I decided to try cranberries and leaves. Color was added with Tombow Dual Markers

Doodle for Stress Reduction

On Mondays via Zoom, I participate in a class where we spend  a half an hour doodling our stress away.

The suggestion for this class was to draw circle birds with long legs. The facilitator had been inspired by some watercolor birds done in this fashion. I forgot to write down the name of the artist.

Doodling for Stress Reduction

On Mondays via Zoom, I participate in a class where we spend  a half an hour doodling our stress away.

The suggestion for this class was to trace a circle and fill it with wavy lines. You could add doodles in between the lines or words.

I was in a Halloween mood and also practicing the lettering from the Rennie Revisited class I took. I wrote out the Scottish prayer:

From ghoulies and ghosties and long leggedy beasties and things that go bump in the night, good Lord deliver us.

Monet and Me

We didn't have the doodle class last week because of  Indigenous People's Day. The facilitator send a doodle for us to work on during the week. We finally got around to completing the assignment.

This was a very fun and relaxing doodle. Give it a try. Start with a circle, either freehand or with a template. Around the inside edge, draw half-circles, 3/4 circles and fill them in with concentric lines.

Doodle for Stress Release

On Mondays via Zoom, I participate in a class where we spend  a half an hour doodling our stress away.

The theme for this session was Balance. The facilitator drew pebble shapes piled on one another. She also wrote some words like "balance" in her pebbles.

Balance and roundish shapes reminded me of a toy I had as a kid. They were plastic men, maybe even clowns, that you could stack and balance.
