Sunday R&R~

On Friday I spent the day with my friend HERE. Talk about quilting, stitching, sewing overload! :-) We didn't take any classes, just had a blast visiting all the vendors~ did you see the list? I met Eleanor Burns! :-) And Annie was in the Superior Threads booth demo'ing Texture Magic~ neat stuff! And, and, and... :-) You get the idea! :-) LOL Today I am putting my feet up with my new books and dreaming. Oh~ and the purse pattern in the photo is one I hope to work on in the coming weeks. ;-)

What surprised me was that I was looking for pre-cuts~ a Jelly Roll or Layer Cake or the Turnovers~ there were a lot of quilt shops set up and loads of fabric but I only spotted a few Jelly Rolls and they looked like they had rolled to the expo along many miles of thorny paths! :-o They were frayed and fuzzy and not anything I would spend money on! :-o Ah well, that left me with more book moola! ;-)

This is going to be a busy week~ tomorrow is March first~lots of fun things in blogland! Be sure to check out~

* the Schnibbles parade by Sherry & Sinta. It will be so fun to see all the Sunday Best treats! ;-)

*Design Wall Monday at Judy L's There is always loads of inspiration!

*And the Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along begins. Since I didn't find a Jelly Roll, I've decided to use some of my CW stash.

Off to read~
Have a happy day! :-)

Spring Sewing Party~ part 3

Ok, now I 'get' it! I think I was supposed to just keep adding to my first post about the party~ whoops... well it has been the day for those! ;-) I generally have problems with blogger after 3 photo's in the same post~ does that happen to anyone else? Sorry Kelly & Joan~ next time I will get it right! Third time is a charm, right? :-) Here is the list of all my sewing sisters today. :-)

After the fiasco of the unwanted thread in the sewing machine today, I did get the tension issues resolved and got on with the fun part. :-) But it was pretty slow sewing.

I have 2 long rows together and now I am on the down side of the quilt. The next row is the top corner row, and the other rows will get smaller as I go. I am going to start with the bottom right corner and go from there now.

I sure enjoyed the party and I know I would not have sewn at all today if not for Kelly & Joan setting up the party. Thanks ladies!!

that's all for today~ laundry is calling. :-/

Until next time!
Happy stitching!

Spring Sewing Party 2~

I could talk about how to trouble-shoot sewing machine tension problems... but when the problem is 'operator error' all the tips don't work. ;-) Yep, I messed up, then messed up some more, then had to rip double sewing lines~ because I was trying a speed trick which would have worked had I not sewn the pieces together wrong!! :-o LOL My thread was having a party!

Now I have a working machine and am back where I started~ let's see if I can get the new sheets sewn in without any more 'whoopsie's'! Who has chocolate? I need to stop by for a quick visit! :-))

Party on!! :-)

Spring Sewing Party Day~

I'm here! But I think by not turning the computer on last night I may have missed the party. :-/ I was gone on a 'stash enhancement expedition' all day yesterday. :-) (thanks Carrie for that new name! but I am not going to spell it out on my blog) LOL :-)) To see all the great projects out in blogland, see the list of party-goers on Kelly's blog. ;-)

Today I hope to get a few rows on my Vintage Sheet Quilt. It is slow going as I am making the pattern up as I go along. Well, not the pattern exactly, but where I am adding the extra sashings. ;-) I couldn't figure out any easy way to do it other than measuring, measuring, measuring. :-) So off I go with my longest ruler and a bunch of fabric strips!

Hope y'all have a great day!

Here is my final post today~ Sorry Kelly, it was a comedy of errors for me today! :-)

Tomorrow will be another great day to sew! :-)))

Until then, happy stitching!

CG&GQC February Finishes~

Let's see...

1. ~check~ I wanted to get the Fig Tree top together and it is. :-) I'll spare you another photo because you probably saw it a million times already. ;-) Hopefully I will be able to go quilt it next month~ and then you'll see it again. ;-))

2. ~check~ I got all the HST's made for my next round of block exchanges with Bonnie. :-)

3. ~check~ the 'disaster' was organized. :-) ...but that was 3 weeks ago and although it's not too bad, its getting there! Why does a sewing space get messed up so fast? I've decided it is as good as it gets, it is now 'organized chaos'. ;-) LOL

..and then there were all the things that I didn't list but I needed to do~
~check~ Schnibble's Sunday Best top is together ~check~ I had a great Thimbleberries Sew Day and have the beginnings of a new quilt. ;-) ~check~ I have my BOM block ready for next month~ finished the 4 inch block up today, but I can't show you until after the first. ;-)

I have decided those things are going to get put in the goals next month~ they take a lot of time! Well, all but T-berries, that is just a fun day! And speaking of fun days~~

Saturday is the Spring Sewing Party for the CG&GQC~ I'll be working on my Vintage Sheet top. What are you working on? :-)

Until next time~
Happy stitchin'!

Thimbleberries Sew Day~ Part 3

I would label today a success, although I don't have much that is photo-worthy. ;-) I had to cut up more of the dark and light strips for the 4-patches. Then I got a bit distracted and cleaned and oiled my sewing machine. LOL It probably needed it. ;-) I sewed the strips, pressed, made the 4 patches and I have this pile to cut apart tonight while TV watching. I like to press them with the little 4 patch of open seam allowances on back, so I'll finger press them all tonight too. It doesn't look like it, but that is over 100 4-patches!

When I was cleaning my machine, I noticed my stack of sewn Trianglulations HST's waiting for trimming. So I trimmed them all up~ another thing to do tonight-- rip off the papers and finger press them. They are for the blocks I am exchanging with Bingo~Bonnie. ;-) I think there are nearly 160 or more of those little guys. :-)

So all-in-all a pretty successful day. :-) How did you do? Be sure to let me know if you sewed today so I can come by and see. :-))

Now I need to get back to the Vintage Sheet top~ ;-)
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

Break Time~

I got 30 4 patches done~ oh maybe 100 more to go. ;-)

I need to take a break and make a little lunch for DS who gets out of school at noon today. Then I'll get back to work. ;-)

Happy Stitchin'!

Thimbleberries Sew Day!

Today is the day! Are you ready? :-))

I am going to start turning some of my Thimbleberries scraps~

....into this quilt from Bonnie Hunter's website. :-)

Barb has picked out a cute wall hanging to work on. Check it out on her blog. ;-)

My friend Karen has started blogging today and is joining us for the sew day~ whoohoo! ~check out her cute wall hanging too! And please be sure to leave her a comment and welcome her to blogland! :-) (I hope her arm isn't too sore to sew~ I did twist it a teeny bit! LOL) ;-)

Time to get busy!
Have a happy day!~ I'll be back with an up-date and a better photo soon! ;-)

Score!

I'm doing the happy dance today! :-) I had a bunch of errands to do~ in the rain~ and at the end I thought I'd stop at the thrift store and see if they had any vintage sheets. The last few times I'd been (which were all before Christmas! ;-o ) there had been nothing, zip, zilch, so I wasn't very hopeful.... but since I was already in the neighborhood.... :-)

Ooh-la-la! I couldn't believe it!! Most of them are in great shape~ like new! :-))
They are all in the wash now and then I'll get a diamond off of each for the top I'm working on. :-)

Hope you are having a great day too!~ despite the weather! :-))

Until tomorrow~
Happy Stitching!

Design Wall Monday & the Rest of the Week!

Good morning! I sewed over the weekend! I am working on my Vintage Sheet top. I drew up the design in EQ and could not figure out how to make sashing without cornerstones~ yeah, there is a lot to EQ that still baffles me, but I do have fun! ;-) Sometimes knowing how you want to do something, and actually getting it to look that way are worlds apart! LOL Anyway~ I sewed, and sewed and have about a third of the top together. I plan to put in a few more of the pink polka dot and green dotted fabrics to give the top a little more color, a lot of my sheets are kind of plain, but I love them all! ;-) And I'm sorry the photo is a little dark~ I took it early this morning. ;-) To see more great projects and get loads of inspiration visit Judy L at Patchwork Times~ and while you are there, add your link too! :-)

This is going to be a busy week! Wednesday is Thimbleberries Sew Day and I am going to start another quilt top! :-o

Oh yes I am! I have loved this pattern from Bonnie Hunter's Quiltville since I first saw it. So I cut out bricks and strips for 4 patches to get started, but will be cutting a lot more in the coming weeks. :-) Join Barb and me if you love Thimbleberries too! You do not need to make a Thimbleberries pattern~ you can either use a pattern or Thimbleberries fabric and join us for a fun day of sewing!

And Saturday is the Charming Guys and Girls Spring Sewing Party! I plan to keep working on my vintage Sheet top! :-) Maybe I will get the next third done~ I hope, I hope! :-))

Yes indeedy~ a fun week of sewing ahead!
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

Busy~Busy

I love watching the Olympics and stitching. :-) I put the last stitches in this last night~ I can't decide if I want to turn it into a pillow or a wall hanging. Which would you choose?

The pattern is from Bird Brain Designs and is called 'Spring Garden Redwork - 126'. I turned off the flash to cut down on the glare~ its on Kona snow. ;-)

And I've been cutting~ I cut all my vintage sheet FQ's into 6.5 inch strips, and then into squares. Time to have some fun!

Hope you are having some fun this week too.
Happy Stitchin'!

February Schnibbles

This month's Schnibbles pattern is Sunday Best from Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. I loved this pattern! I would love to make a large quilt~ bed size! :-) Ahhh someday, someday... ;-) I had to downsize the blocks a bit because I wanted to use these cute little Petite 4's that I won from The Quilt Shoppe's Holly Jolly Bingo game in December~~ thanks Quilt Shoppe!! :-)
See~ half of them are gone. I didn't have enough of the background fabric, so I went scrappy. I didn't make as many blocks either~ I wanted it to fit the top of my treadle. ;-) Sheesh, I was a rebel this month!! :-o Even with my little sewing boo-boo's (see previous posts) :-o this was a fast, fun pattern and I love my topper~
Be sure to check Sherri's and Sinta's blogs on March 1st to see all the other Sunday Best Schnibbles! :-)

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

Tag!

Joan is tagging the CG&GQC this month to list some of our favorite things~ :-)
Mine could be summed up in 3 F's~ family, flowers and fabric!!

I can't show you a photo of my family. We are spread out all over the place. And DS would probably never forgive me if I put his pic on my quilting blog. LOL ;-)

I thought about taking a pic of the crocus blooming outside my front door, but thought that might be cruel to those of you who are scooping snow. ;-) So how about a ~

It reminds me of the song 'raindrops on roses, and...' which seemed to start playing through my head the minute I saw Joan's tag. :-)

And instead of showing you a stack of fabric, how about a few quilts?~

We do not lack for quilts here. ;-))

I also love to do redwork~ just a peek at what is currently in the hoop. ;-)

Of course chocolate isn't mentioned, but should be.... (I didn't have any to photograph! :-o Time to go shopping!) LOL :-)

What are your favorite things?
Until next time~

Mama Said~

"There'd Be Days Like This"~~

Chalk it up to 'one of those' weekends! Not a whole lot of sewing went on, and what did ended in rippin'. :-/

Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day~ :-))

Until next time~

~More Fun~

Nichole from Nichole in Real Life had a giveaway last month for her 100th post and I was the lucky winner of these beauties~ :-)
Thanks Nichole! :-) The timing was perfect as I was at the dentist this morning... how fun to come home to such wonderful mail! ;-)

My sewing progress has been slow the last few days. I've still got the pile of HST's by the machine. I'm making headway~ slowly but surely. ;-)

Until Next time~
Happy Stitchin'! :-)

Surprise Mail!

Wonderful Mail! :-)
Fantastic Mail! :-)
I was on cloud-9 after the mailman stopped yesterday (I still am!). :-)
Carrie sent me the OZ Layer Cake I was so lucky to have been chosen to receive in the last Schnibbles parade.... ~but her generosity didn't stop there~ look at all these goodies!!

Yes~ she sent a second Layer Cake of Gypsy Rose by Fig Tree Designs, a project pouch, a cool composition book with a red toile cover (I love red toile!!) and a handy little ruler. Thank you Carrie! I know you are being teased for your 'ginormous swelling head' post all over blogland, but let me just say~ you have a 'ginormous' ♥ to match! Your surprises really brightened my week!! Thank you! :-)

Today's Sewing~

Well, it will take longer than today to do all of these, but this is what I am playing with today~ I dug thru the stash and found an odd assortment :-) of fabrics for the next batch of HST's for the blocks I am exchanging with Bingo~Bonnie. LOL, it is getting hard to find scrap pieces I haven't already used~ that is why you see leopard print! :-)) **giggle** Hopefully they will be ok in the next blocks. ;-) This will morph into 240 HST's!Hope you are having a happy day!
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'! ;-)

What Is On Your Design Wall?

... or table, ...or in my case, ~floor? :-) I was able to sneak in a bit of sewing over the weekend and got some of the borders on Cobble Stones. :-) I just have the last top and bottom border to add~ hopefully today! ;-) As much as I have loved sewing this top together, I am anxious for it to be off of the floor. ;-)) LOL

I also made 3 more of the Piece and Goodwill blocks (from Nov/Dec Quiltmaker magazine)~ or as I am going to call my quilt 'With A Little Help From My Friends', because they generously shared green scraps with me. :-) I discovered a big hole in my stash for light greens! :-o I have no idea how that happened!~ but now that it is mostly ;-) organized, I do have a better idea of where I am lacking. When the opportunity for 'shop therapy' arises, I'll know what is needed. ;-) LOL

Go to Judy L's Patchwork Times blog and check out all the inspiration on design walls around the world!

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

Progress!

Yay! I have been keeping my nose to my sewing machine and finally~ I have the first border on Cobblestones! :-) Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to sneak in a little sewing time and work on border 2. It isn't cut out yet, so back to work with me! :-) Sorry it's tipped. :-/ I tried a few tricks to get it to display right and apparently I don't know the right tricks! :-(

Until next time~

CGandGQC February Goals~

Notice our new name and logo? Kelly designed a new one for us this year. :-) Thanks Kelly!

Like so many other club members, I cannot believe it is already February! I guess time really does fly when we are having fun! LOL :-) Since I only have 25 days let to this month, my goals are going to be short ones. ;-)

1. I need to get Cobble Stones together! I'm working on it. I will spare you another photo, just check Monday's post. ;-)

2. It is time to pull out the MyBlue Heaven blocks I am exchanging with Bingo~Bonnie and get some more made up. It takes a lot of HST's to put these blocks together, so that is where I will start. We are going to exchange 16 blocks for our last exchange, so I should start working on them. ;-) I don't plan to get all 16 done this month~ just a huge pile of HST's! :-)

3. Since I only gave myself a 'half check' for cleaning up my disaster last month. ;-) (Well, I altered the plan mid-month, I hadn't originally planned to move furniture!) This month I will finish the task. LOL ;-)

Not included on the list, but other things I will do this month are the February Schnibbles pattern, the Thimbleberries Sew Day, and getting the next BOM ready for the HGTV quilters~ and I'm going to an Expo! :-) It is entirely possible that I've forgotten something that I will also cram in~ LOL! :-))

Guess I'd better get busy!
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin' to You! ;-)

BOM fun~

This year I joined my girlfriend in hosting a BOM on the HGTV Quilters message board. We have a little fun with the gals and have a guessing game to guess what block we picked for the month. The blocks for this year are all stars and can come from anywhere on the web. Marcia Hohn at QuiltersCache is very gracious in allowing us to pick and post blocks from her fantastic site. The good thing about getting to help in the hostess department is that I get my blocks done! :-) LOL We are doing both a 12 inch block and a 4 inch block and one of my jobs is to figure out the 4 inch block ~ I love EQ6! :-)

Here are January's blocks...

and February's blocks....
The multi-colored paisley fabric is my focus fabric and I'll pull all the coordinating fabrics from the colors in that fabric. So it will be a 'controlled scrappy' quilt. :-)

For the girls who are from HGTV and following my blog~ sorry, I won't reveal any secrets here. :-)) I don't even know March's block yet, so there is no chance of that happening! LOL ;-)

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

Design Wall Monday~

Happy February 1st!~ Didn't January just kind of blink by?! Or was I sleeping too much? LOL :-)

My design wall floor :-)) hasn't changed much since last week~ well, it really has, but you probably don't notice it. I have been fiddling with these blocks all week! Every time I look at them, I see 2 of the same print side by side, or too many greens in a row, or the browns aren't spaced out enough! Argh! Just now I noticed 2 of the same print on the bottom row. :-o I think I am just going to start sewing and whatever ends up next to each other is just the way it will be! At the rate I'm going, I will never get it together. LOL ;-) Hopefully next week you will see this top together and something else on the wall er, I mean floor? :-/
Whoops~ apparently blogger is tired of my blocks too! They turned my photo! ;-)
For some great design walls, check out Judy L's blog~

And until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!!

B-r-r-r-r

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
