Finishes!

Warning: photo overload ;-) LOL

 

I love it when finishes happen! Don't you? We had a few cooler days and I spent them in my cottage quilting up my Calendar Girls quilt tops~~ 

I quilted Cozy Up with all over butterflies and used a colorful thread and fancy machine stitch for the binding.

 

For Sticks & Stones I also did an all over design; this time it was fanciful flowers and I put orange piping under the binding.
I think both turned out really cute!  I have 3 DGDs and 2 quilts~ what to do, what to do?!!

I also finished making a Batman patch for DGS's denim jacket. ~~

 I found the machine embroidery file on Etsy and changed it to a patch instead of embroidering it directly on the jacket. I hope he loves it! :-)

Ok, back to work for me! :-)  ...or is it play? LOL

Reading Pillows?

When I first heard about reading pillows, it reminded me of the big pillows I had when our kids were younger. They loved them! So I knew I wanted to make a few for my grandkiddoes, but I never seemed to have the time.  

Until now! :-)

The Crafter's Edge Unicorn Die was just the 'kick' I needed! 

(Although in full disclosure, a unicorn did not really kick me. :-) )  

 

The embroidered word art is from Designs By Juju

Sticks & Stones

 Have never been cuter! :-)

This is the 2nd pattern from my Pineapple Fabrics BQpack; 'Calendar Girls'.

It is called 'Sticks & Stones'~

It was a quick sew and I am hoping to quilt it this weekend.

BOM Fun~

 Do you love Block of the Month (BOM) programs?

I do, because it keeps me on task~ no distracting squirrels! ;-)

For the past few years I have done a BOM with friends in a private Facebook group.

I love the challenge of coming up with a quilt design and blocks!

I do use my EQ8, and also graph paper depending on what I am trying to do.

This year one of my ladies requested easy blocks, and I also have a hand piecer in the group, so I have been trying to KISS (keep it simple sister!)  ;-) 

These are two of the blocks for this year.

My idea was to do traditional blocks with an optional twist. 

I am really loving all the color combo's the ladies have been doing. I chose 30's this year, and I have a plan for this quilt too.  ;-)

Sewing! Sewing!

Are you keeping busy sewing when it is just too hot to be outside?

I go out in the AM and water my flowers and again in the evening if it is a hot day and then I stay indoors. :-)

I am working on my next Pineapple Fabrics quilt.   Remember when I told you that the gorgeous 'Calendar Girls' bundle was enough for 2 quilt tops?  You saw 'Cozy Up' last week. This week I am working on 'Sticks & Stones'. :-)

Aren't the fabrics just darling?  If you check out my link above, you will see that the  'Calendar Girls' line also has some really fun panels! It is summer sewing at its best!

Tell me, do you like sewing with panels? Do you have a favorite panel or panel pattern?

I picked up a couple panels when we were on our trip, and now I am stuck with how to turn them into a quick but cute quilt. Any tips for me?

I forgot to mention that when I finished my Cozy Up quilt top, I stitched all the way around the outside edges. About an eighth of an inch from the edge. This keeps all the seams locked when I put it on the longarm and I don't need to worry about unraveling seams. ;-)
