A Schnibbling Along~

Sinta and Sherri allowed us to choose what ever Schnibbles pattern we wanted to make for the July 'Another Year of Schnibbles' sew along. I've had 2 charm packs of Prairie Paisley 2 for quite a while, waiting for a chance to make Lincoln~ from the book 'Another  Bite of Schnibbles' ~

I love this one! Pretty easy, yet so patriotic!  Be sure to visit Sinta and Sherri's blogs on Wednesday for loads of inspiration! I can't wait for the parade!

Have a happy weekend!

Oops!

I'm hanging my head in shame. Yesterday was Thimbleberries Sew day~ and I did not. :-( Oh I seriously thought about it! But I just have too many things going on right now to feel very good about starting another project. I hope to be more organized next month. Sorry.

Remember awhile back I told you something was in the mail, but I couldn't show you yet? I made a purse and matching wallet for my Auntie. And since I know she checks my blog~ hi auntie!!~ I didn't want to show it until she received it. ;-)  When we were visiting home in June she asked if I would make her a purse. Since I have never seen her carry a purse, I really had to think about what she might like. She wanted to be surprised.  ~that's almost as scary as reading 'quilt as desired' in a pattern! LOL  Cyndi came to my rescue without even realizing it. :-)  She had made a super cute purse for me last year, so I asked her about the pattern. It is called the Mini Messenger by Darci Wright for Quilts Illustrated. I did change it a wee bit and added a magnet closure and changed the handle to match mine from Cyndi. After I finished it, I decided it needed a matching wallet. Cyndi designed this wallet, she hasn't published a pattern...yet. ;-)

I'm glad I got it mailed off quick or I might have loaded it with my things! ;-)

Have you been following along with the Summer Star Sampler from Temecula Quilt Co?  I finally got caught up~ and tomorrow block four comes out!  They were very quick and fun~

Thanks for stopping by~
I'm off to get back to work.
Have a happy day!

Wednesday~ Thimbleberries Sew Day!

And I think I just might get to sew! :-)  How about you? Can you join us for a sew day?
Use a Thimbleberries pattern and your own fabrics, or use your Thimbleberries stash and any pattern~ just come on over and have some sewing fun!  Let me know if you are sewing and I'll come by for a visit. :-)

Tonight I am going to look through my books.   If you can't decide on a project visit Thimbleberries website.  I found some cute tea towels designs there ~~free! and there are a lot of free patterns too. :-)

See you tomorrow!!! :-)

Having Fun!

I had a little secret this week and now the cat is out of the bag~ or maybe I should say, The Bag is Out! :-)
Jennie and Clara at Clover and Violet have a new bag pattern out. I felt so honored when they asked me to test it~ and I am in love.  :-)

I love the side pockets and ties~ easy to cinch up if you aren't carrying a lot of things, or let out if you are. ;-)
I adore Clara's blue bag!  I went to my stash of black and white, and grey and reds to make mine~ it is so nice to have a stash! ;-)

on my newly painted red bench ;-)

I was so excited I forgot to take an inside photo, but there are pockets! ;-)  And ya know~ I love pockets! :-) LOL  Thank you Jennie and Clara!

Until next time~
Happy stitching!

Another Week Has Flown By!

How it happens is a mystery to me. :-) LOL

I have been sewing~ one project I can't show you~ yet.  It is going in the mail tomorrow. ;-)

But~ I have been having fun playing in my sheets! LOL  I have 8 blocks finished for the Great Granny Quilt Along. I am doing them in my vintage sheet collection and I just love how they are turning out. You can see all my seams because of the dark floor~ you won't when it is sandwiched and quilted. I am going to make 4 more blocks, so I have 12.

Since the sheets were out... :-/ and I couldn't resist! I also cut squares for the Fusion Blanket Crochet Along that Little Miss Shabby and friends are hostessing.  I said I wasn't joining another thing...but... ah... I found yarn on sale and already had the sheets... so....

sigh  I am weak.

I cut out my squares a little larger than the Crochet Along gals are doing, and I put a piece of flannel in between so the sheets wouldn't show through and to add a little more body. I need to stitch around these and then put them by my chair for blanket stitching. This is going to be a longer term project, but just right for nights when I have my tootsies in the air. ;-)

Hope you are finding a little sewing time this summer too!
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

Friday Night Sew In

Last night was FNSI~ and I got to sew! For a bit at least. :-/ Remember earlier in the year when I tried to post my FNSI results and our computer died? And the next month the cable was out? Well last night we had storms and shut the computer down.. and unplugged my machine. :-(   It was the weirdest weather! There were over 1500 cloud to land lightning strikes, and there was damage. :-(  Not in my area, but in surrounding communities.  Home strikes, large trees, etc.  I am very grateful that all I had to do was unplug!

I did get a bit done before unplugging~

I got 2 more Great Granny Quilt Along (see previous post) squares done.  I'm making mine out of my vintage sheet collection and just loving them!

And not wanting to miss out on a good night I made 2 more design boards and arranged blocks to sew today on all 4.  :-)

Even though the weather wasn't very cooperative, I think I accomplished a lot.  How did you do?

Have a great weekend!

Bitten!

I've been bitten! By the Great Granny Quilt Along bug. :-)  Jodi and Lori are sponsoring this quilt along~ and I just couldn't resist. :-)

My vintage sheet stash seemed to be the perfect choice for blocks, so I quickly made one.

Then I decided I needed bigger design boards. :-)  (You can find that tutorial on Lori's blog too). The dollar store had the foam board. I made 2 last night and had to play with my sheet squares. Fun!

Hopefully I can get to my sewing machine later today to sew them up. Right now I'm headed outside to paint!

Thanks for stopping by~ Have a happy day!

Monday - Monday

I am checking things off of my list for this month and I gotta tell you, it feels good!! :-)

Not wanting to get involved in any of my bigger projects yesterday, I made my gifts for Christmas Through the Year.

Lingerie bags! ~and the cool thing is, all I did was add the binding!  I saw this on Lori Holt's Bee in My Bonnet blog and loved the idea! Here is her tutorial.  I found the bags at Target just like she said I would. :-) I did do mine a little bit different though.  I added the binding like you would quilt binding~ sewing it to one side and flipping it to sew to the other. I sewed it to the back  and flipped it to the front though. Then I stitched in the ditch on the back.  You can see through the mesh so easily that you can see that you have enough to catch the front, when sewing on the back. I love the finished look of straight sewing. :-)

As I was sewing I was thinking~ these would be great as a gift to a new mom too~ all those cute little baby socks wouldn't get lost in the wash! :-)

Hope you are having a happy Monday! Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!!

Happy Weekend!

Have you found a little time for quilting? or stitching?  I did!! :-) I'm working on my Schnibble for this month. No peeks yet. ;-) And about a half dozen other things! LOL

This is a little peek for my Mom.  :-)  I quilted her Birdie Stitches quilt this week.  It was fun and makes me want to drop everything and get my blocks together! ...ahhh, but I have other things in the 'need to do ' pile first. One of these days though! ;-)

And speaking of my Mom~ she is having a little 'oops' giveaway on her blog. I already own the book and love it~ maybe you should drop by and try your luck. Its a very good book!! ;-) Visit her at Granny Quilts and tell her hi from me! :-)  Good luck!

I'm off to stitch some more~
Have a happy weekend!!

It's July?!

How did that happen!?  :-)

I hope you had a memorable 4th. We had a lovely family day filled with lots of eating. LOL ;-)

I cannot believe it has been nearly a week since I last blogged! I've been busy~ honest! I just don't have anything to show you... yet. ;-)  I'm busy working on my Row Robins (won't be revealed until September), my blocks for the Think Christmas blog hop (see sidebar) and I finished quilting a quilt for my Mom~ but no peeks until she sees it. :-) See what I mean? Busy, but nothing to show. :-/

I can show you my BOM that I'm doing each month with my friend Karen (who blogs at Briarside Lane) on the HGTV quilters message board. We posted the July block on the first. It is the one in the top row, center. I am doing my blocks in CW fabrics, but if you are a member of the quilting board, you can go and have a peek at everyone's blocks~ oh my! Some great color schemes and choices. The ladies are very creative. :-)  *And if you are visiting from HGTV, no, this isn't the final layout. LOL Don't get any ideas like that. :-))

I am really loving how this BOM is coming together and can't wait until I finish all the blocks. :-)

That's all from my little corner of the world for today.
Until next time~
Happy stitchin'!!

B-r-r-r-r

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
