The Blackhead's House, Riga, Latvia

Postcard IDLV-104616

House of the Blackheads is a building situated in the old town of Riga, Latvia. The original building was erected during the first third of the 14th century for the Brotherhood of Blackheads, a guild for unmarried German merchants in Riga. Major works were done in the years 1580 and 1886, adding most of the ornamentations.

The structure was bombed to a ruin by the Germans June 28, 1941 and the remains demolished by the Soviets in 1948. The current reconstruction was erected from 1995 to 1999

A stamps is from series EUROPA Stamps – Astronomy issued in 2009. Actually I have all 2 stamps from this series :)

Postcard's way

Postcard IDLV-178809
Country: Latvia

This card look so simple, but so interesting for postcrossers. Just look: mailman has its own transport - balloons - to deliver our postcards. Then he hand off them to doves and they deliver it to happy postcrossir. It's great, isn't it?)

And separately I'd like to shows 2 sets of stamps from this card.  On the first one we see Imants Ziedonis, a Latvian poet:
The second set contains Flowers stamps of 2014 and 2015 years:

Struve Park, Latvia

Postcard IDLV-157571
Country: Latvia

Here is a beautiful summer green card. I like to walk in parks like this one.

Called the Crown Garden during the first independence, Struve park was a popular recreation and entertainment location with wealthier residents. The park has become famous with its station of the geodetic ark measured by the professor of Tartu University, astronomer and geodesist Wilhelm von Struve. The Struve Geodetic Arc is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Here is a stamp:

Auseklis (The Morning Star), Latvia

Postcard IDLV-156631
Country: Latvia

As per sender the morning star is the symbol of star in Latvian culture.

Auseklis is the Morning Star (Venus). Her rays protect sleeping souls from the forces of evil. The eight-pointed symbol of the star is used in magical rites, and you must draw this symbol without lifting your hand (in one go) if your spell is to have the desired results!

I receive postcards from neighbor so rarely, so this is the first Latvian stamp in this blog:
