MATCHED TO HIS CRUSH
If you like it, don’t miss the full-length companion books starring three more couples matched by EA International. Happily Ever After Inc.—Their business is makeovers and matchmaking, but love doesn’t always go according to plan!

THE MATCHMAKER LOWDOWN
ANGI: What's your favorite thing about
MATCHED TO HER RIVAL?  KAT: The chocolate chips. No hints—you’ll have to read the scene for yourselves…and I promise you it’s worth it! :P
MATCHED TO A PRINCEKAT: It’s set on a fictional island in the Mediterranean and I had a blast making it all up.
MATCHED TO A BILLIONAIRE?  KAT: Daniella compares herself to Scarlett O’Hara a lot. I loved coming up with her internal monologue for that.

ANGI: Happily Ever After is a match matching company, so what's the one special thing that would have matched…
Elise & Dax have in MATCHED TO HER RIVAL? KAT: They’re both too smart for their own good. :O) They have to put down their psychology degrees and find each other’s hearts.
Juliet & Finn have in MATCHED TO A PRINCEKAT: They both value honor and integrity above everything else but learn that compromise is the only way to live happily ever after.
Daniella & Leo have in MATCHED TO A BILLIONAIREKAT: They’re both looking for security in an arranged marriage but learn that love is the best security.

ANGI: What was your favorite thing you did this summer?
KAT: I participated in an anthology with some other authors and it was a truly memorable experience! I learned a lot and I was the one who researched the charity we ended up selecting—all the proceeds for the Love Is… Anthology go to Reach Out and Read, an organization that partners with pediatricians to put books into parents’ hands so reading can be a family experience. It’s .99 cents, 100% of the proceeds go to charity and it includes 40 short stories in 3 genres. That’s easy math, ya’ll!

ANGI’S GOTTA ASK: The kids are about to be back in school… Is there one thing you wanted to do this summer that you couldn't?

KAT'S GOTTA ANSWER: I really wanted to go to France to see a stage of the Tour De France. But it’s just too far to go with small kids, so I had to watch it on TV…again. But since this year was the 101 time they’ve done it, I’m pretty sure they’ll be another one next year!

EXCERPT

Determined to revitalize her imploding career, blacklisted movie star Ashley V takes on her biggest role yet: posing as one of ten scientists invited by aliens to a universal summit. But when the aliens seize, strip and implant the entire delegation to extract their knowledge, she is quickly found out and sent to a cell to await recycling.

The alien research director designated ZXQ-One devised a plan to let the humans volunteer their best and brightest in a gamble to solve his people’s energy crisis. But he fails to find anything useful and winds up imprisoned alongside the fiery human woman who refuses to give up, and who insists on calling him Sam.

After an accidental link between their implants lets them share their thoughts, they find themselves drawn to each other. Sam will have to trust in her human compassion and forgiveness for his role in her capture, and Ashley will have to trust him with her deepest secrets if they are to have any chance at survival…

OUT OF THIS WORLD QUESTIONS
We are so lucky to have a famous actress with us today. Her newest role landed her in a heap of trouble with aliens! I couldn't resist this interview.

ANGI: Who was your favorite character you portrayed?
ASHLEY: Ashley V. No really. In Hollywood, you’re never off camera and the me sitting here right now is as much an invention as any movie character. That’s how you survive the casting jungle.

ANGI: What’s the first book you remember reading?
ASHLEY: The first thing I remember reading is the script for the first commercial I did when I was six. Does that count? I didn’t go to school like normal kids, so it was pretty much all about the script from way back.

ANGI: What’s your favorite “love” word?
ASHLEY: Jewelry. The more sparkle, the more love. ;)

ANGI: Can you tell us about a real-life hero you’ve met?
ASHLEY: My mom. She raised me after my dad left and without her pushing me through Hollywood's closed doors, I’d be a nobody.

ANGI: What was your first thought meeting Sam?
ASHLEY: Here’s someone who can help me escape. Fantastic. And I keep forgetting he’s not human. What is with that?

ANGI: Which is your favorite movie?
ASHLEY: The one that grosses the highest. Oh, did you mean one that I wasn’t in? I watched Contact a bunch of times for research. It was pretty cool.

ANGI: Who’s your favorite villain?
ASHLEY: Voldemort. He was virtually invisible and slowly clawed his way back into existence and power, despite not even having a body. You have to admire that kind of resolve.

ANGI: What's your least favorite thing about aliens?
ASHLEY: (makes a face) That they exist. And do horrific things to humans. And lie to everybody. Oh, and they’re bossy.

ANGI: What is your biggest vice?
ASHLEY: Seriously? You know I had to go to court-ordered rehab, right? That’s code for never-met-a-vice-I-didn’t-like.

ANGI: What role do you wish you could have snagged?
ASHLEY: You’ll think it’s silly, but I’m really mad I didn’t get The Ugly Truth. Stupid Katherine Heigl. She used to be an alien on that show Roswell, you know.

ANGI’S GOTTA ASK: While creating your world for MINDLINK, what stumped you the most?
KAT'S GOTTA ANSWER: Oh, man. I hate to tell you…it’s kind of the crux of the alien’s secret. Let’s just say the alien world is a derivative of another society and it was a challenge to envision how the original society might reasonably evolve and change over time. I had to think about culture, government, politics, economics, technology, etc. It’s not an exaggeration when I say I had seventy-five pages of notes for this book before I wrote the first word.

ALL ABOUT KAT
ANGI: How often to you get lost in a story?
KAT: I’m constantly lost in a story. Usually in my own head. I’m one of those who can’t see an abandoned car on the side of the road without spinning a tale instantly of what happened to the down-on-her-luck heroine.

ANGI: What’s your favorite “love” word?
KAT: Sacrifice. To me, that’s the embodiment of love.

ANGI: Can you tell us about a real-life hero you’ve met?
KAT: My husband. He inspires all my fictional heroes. I know everyone says that, but mine really does. J Yeah, he cooks and cleans, but he’s a hero to me because he always does the right thing no matter what and his first priority is taking care of his family. If that’s not heroic, I don’t know what is.

ANGI: What’s your favorite fairy tale?
KAT: Definitely Cinderella, though I like the Drew Barrymore version—Ever After—the best because she rescues herself and her reward is true love. I’ve written my own version of Cinderella twice now and both my heroines do the same!
ANGI: AH !! A woman after my own heart. My absolute favorite version of this story. I sometimes  listen to the movie to hear Dougray Scott's voice. LOL

ANGI: What do you like about the hero of your book?
KAT: He likes to take care of people…see above about my husband. So many readers complain about heroes in books being unrealistic and it was important to me to write people with realistic qualities.

ANGI: Where do you read and how often?
KAT: I read at night before I go to bed. I usually only get about fifteen minutes in, so it takes me a long time to read an entire book, but it’s all I can manage right now. Unfortunately, reading time is one of the things I had to sacrifice so I could be a career author.

ANGI: Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?
KAT: Both. >>>big grin<<<

ANGI: What was the first story you remember writing?
KAT: Jane and the Rainbow in first grade. I was hooked! By fourth grade, I was writing Encyclopedia Brown and Trixie Beldon knockoffs and finally found my calling in ninth grade when I started my first romance. It was a historical. Set in 1971.

ANGI: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
KAT: Lord of the Rings. I like all three equally so don’t you dare make me pick just one!

ANGI’S GOTTA ASK: How are the gerbils? (BIG GRIN) I have to admit that those were one animal I never allowed in the house, so you can tell I’m not a fan. Keeping my fingers crossed they’re working out for not only your son, but also the mom that has to clean their cage.
KAT’S GOTTA ANSWER: Well…that’s a story. I guess I’m in the right place for that. J Turns out I’m allergic to gerbils so we had to take them back. Apparently it happens often because the store refunded 100% of my money despite the obvious use of the cage and other accessories. It’s a hard, hard thing to disappoint your kid and I think I cried over it for at least a week. But I learned I have a great son who handled the whole thing with maturity. I’m so proud of him!
