Baby Shower Gift - Boxes & Card

Hello Everyone!

Today I am sharing with something that I made for a Baby Shower. I had crocheted 3 pairs of little booties, and could not find a gift box around the house that was the right size. So a thought came to mind saying, "Come on Sabrina, you can make boxes, so what's stopping you?". I guess I was thinking I needed my score board to make a box big enough for 3 pairs of booties, which is stored away still in one of my many boxes in my daughter's garage. But I remembered that I had my box punch board. I could make one box for each pair of booties and stack them together and tie a ribbon around all three boxes!

How did I get that pattern on the bottom of the boxes? Well I used Peeled Paint Oxide ink and a stencil with a blending tool. Then I used copper washi tape as a border along the top edge of the pattern.

The above photo shows the top box open and flat to give you an idea of how I did it. I did the same stenciling on the top portions of the box that go on top of the other 2 boxes. It was real easy to do, and did not take much time at all.

You also see the little 4 x 4 card that I made to coordinate with the boxes. The envelope is not quite a matching piece, but that was the best I could do with what I had, and it is still blue for a little baby boy.

I cut the blue piece and attached the same copper washi tape around the edges to create the border. Then I stamped and heat embossed a little copper plane fussy cutting it out. I then popped up the blue piece over the white I had already attached to the card front. Next I popped up the little banner and the copper plane.

I used my Mini Envelope Punch Board to make the envelope.

Because all those layers make the card a little front heavy, I like to add a couple of cardstock layers on the inside of the card so that it can better stand and not topple over.

Plus it nicely frames the inside sentiment and what you write on the card.

I wanted to have one more photo to show you here, but guess what? After tying the boxes together with a beautiful dark green ribbon, I forgot to take the photo before going the the shower.

I hope that you have been inspired to try some stenciling on any boxes you might next make. I think I like it better than adding cut pieces of patterned paper. At least for now anyway.

Happing creating!

Oh Baby

A baby card for a friend to give to her teacher:

My camera was acting up this morning... :(

I used a Distress Paint dabber for the first time. I used a stencil and there was quite a bit of bleeding. I don't mind the effect, but it wasn't what I was going for.

The baby rattle shaker was created using a sheet of acetate (from PTI stamps) and embellished with a bit of lace and twine.

{Supplies--all Papertrey Ink unless noted}
  • Cardstock: Classic Kraft, Vintage Cream, Gold Shimmer
  • Stamps: Wonderful Words: Baby
  • Ink: Versamark (Tsukineko)
  • Dies: Baby Button Bits, Wonderful Words: Baby
  • Accessories: lace, Cream Cotton Baker's Twine
  • Other Tools: Delicate Doily stencil (MFT), Picket Fence Distress Paint (Ranger), gold embossing powder (Filigree), foam adhesive sheet

Welcome Baby

Another card I created at the all-day crop with my mom.

This was the second time I created this particular card due to an adhesive malfunction--too bad I ended up stamping the giraffe crooked! Didn't care enough to try for a third. ;)

All supplies used for this card can be found here.

Dad Shaker Card

I think this is the first time that I've created a baby card for a man: a coworker had twins! I wanted to keep it simple and without large amounts of pastel colors. I decided to go with a shaker card using my Papertrey Ink Make It Market Kit.

Shaker cards can be created using almost any dies but these ones (specifically for shaker cards) sure made it easy. And the one ingredient you can't do without? Foam adhesive sheets!! Making one without is a huge pain (ask me how I know)!

I filled mine with pale pink and clear sequins as well as chunky clear glitter.

The interior (not pictured) reads: Good Things Come In Multiples (a sentiment from Papertrey Ink's Bitty Baby Blessings).

It's difficult, although possible, to avoid getting shaker bits caught on any adhesive within...

{Supplies--all Papertrey Ink unless noted}
  • Cardstock: Rustic White, Kraft, Clear
  • Patterned Paper: Aqua Mist and Lavender Moon gingham
  • Stamps: Distressed Background Blocks (My Favorite Things)
  • Ink: Classic Kraft
  • Dies: Shakers and Sprinkles Make It Market Kit, String of Hearts (Simon Says Stamp), Dad (Lil' Inkers)
  • Accessories: assorted sequins/glitter
  • Other Tools: foam adhesive sheet, Xyron Create-a-Sticker

Welcome Baby: Baby Shower Invites

I had to whip up 50 or so baby invites in a day and this is what I came up with:

I snagged a random one for a photo shot, and it probably wasn't the best one, but you get the idea.

{Supplies--all Papertrey Ink unless noted}
  • Cardstock: Kraft, Spring Rain
  • Stamps: Bitty Baby Blessings, Bundle of Love, doilies (Inkadinkado)
  • Ink: Vintage Cream, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky
  • Dies: Bitty Baby Blessings

Retro Sketches and CR84FN

I'm so thrilled to have actually finished this card in time for Retro Sketches!

A friend had her 4th baby: first boy!

I know my mom will be so proud that I actually went through my patterned papers to find this beauty! ;)

I'm also entering this into CR84FN's current color challenge, although my blue is lighter than the called for denim.

Thanks for stopping by!

{Supplies--all Papertrey Ink unless noted}
  • Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, Kraft
  • Patterned Paper: _________
  • Stamps: Bitty Baby Blessings
  • Ink: Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink (Ranger)
  • Dies: Take Three, Tiny Tags
  • Other Tools: Rustic Jute button twine, Dark Chocolate button, W1 Copic

Boy and Girl Baby Cards

When I pulled out my stamp for this project, I came across a Basic Grey set that has survived multiple purges. The recent baby challenge at Runway Inspired Challenge inspired me to use the elephant stamp.

I had first thought to use the tiny buttons that are on the bows for the elephant eyes. Unfortunately, it looked quite strange and so I just glued them onto the bows.

I'm entering this into the current Young Crafter's Unite challenge: buttons.

Thanks for peeking!

{Supplies}
  • Cardstock: Rustic White (Papertrey Ink)
  • Stamps: Morocco (Basic Grey), Bundle of Love (Papertrey Ink)
  • Ink: Memento Summer Sky and Angel Pink (Tsukineko), Kraft (Papertrey Ink)
  • Other Tools: bows/buttons (Recollections)

Little Darlings - Scrapbook Parade Class

When I first saw this collection I was totally enthralled and excited about the chance to be able to use these enchanting papers in at least one of the many ideas that came pouring into my mind. Keeping it a more simple project for a class, this is what I came up with.

Boy

And the girl version

Now for the details and close-ups.

A tiny little tag

Here at the top is a larger tag.

And lastly, the largest tag on this project.

The girl version is similar, but will show you the close-ups just the same.

There are only two tags on this version, the medium sized one and the larger one.

Below is the display card flattened against a page layout made specifically for it to be placed into a scrapbook or a shadow box.

The blank space on the front is for a bay photo, and the tags can have more photos or can used as journaling cards.

This class is scheduled for Saturday, July 28th,

Thank you all for stopping by and sharing your thoughts on this project. Love to read them. And let me know what you've done using this collection, too!

Butterfly Spring Layout - Scrapbook Parade Class

I've left my scrapbooks at the store (Scrapbook Parade) for a couple of months so that customers can have a look at them for inspiration and was told how often people commented on this page. So Carol asked if I could adapt something like it for a double page layout. We found the beautiful My Minds Eye 'Follow Your Heart' paper that inspires such a layout.

Here is what I came up with, and will be teaching a class on, for Tuesday, July 10th.

Close ups and details.

I had a blast cutting out all those butterflies! I think it was the anticipation of how it would look/turn out that made the task seem worthwhile. The customers taking the class will get their printed sheet of digi butterflies to cut out before class.

I just love these papers! Thanks for stopping by today, and happy crafting!

CR84FN51 - Some Of My Sewing

I recently purchased some of the beautiful My Minds Eye Follow Your Heart collection papers. They are so soft and beautiful, and when I learned the colours of the CR84FN51 challenge, I was hoping I would have the time to create something for this challenge. And I spent most of yesterday working on it a little here and little there, and then completing it around 11:30pm Pacific time. I decided to do as Mona did and create a double page layout rather than a card. I have so many photos to scrapbook.

The colours, of course, reminded me of Easter, and that reminded me of all the wonderful dresses I used to sew for my three girls at Easter (the 2 boys would get matching ties). In 1997 I did a lot of sewing of little girls dresses to sell, or custom make for friends, etc. At one point I decided to start taking pictures of them, and this is one of the newborn Christening dresses I had made. This one was for a friend who decided she wanted one in a very pale pink with cream. I used one of my daughters' dolls as the model, and because I had it completed 5 weeks before their daughter was born, I was able to enter this dress in the Madison County Fair (Rexburg, Idaho), along with other dresses I had made. I won so many ribbons that year. Every one of my entries won a ribbon! (I also made that blue and yellow quilt you see the doll lying on)

Well here is my challenge entry.

I had troubles with the alphabet stamps I used here. I just bought them at a garage sale and the Y & I wouldn't stay on my clear block! So they ended up a little off. I also think I may have gotten a bit carried away with the white Enamel Accents. I was having so much fun I guess.

Here are close ups.

You can't tell so much with the pink roses, but with this blue one you may be able to see that I used my Versa Magic pen to darken areas of the rose to give it a little more dimension than just layering it.
The other blue flowers I made using scalloped circles and cutting between each scallop to curl them. I then used Petal Pink Liquid Pearl in the centers. I also used the Liquid Pearl in the centers of the little white paper blossoms.

Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing something special to me, with me. Happy crafting everyone!

Baby Blanket Tags

I've been somewhat MIA and it's not due to me moving on from papercrafting.

I've been keeping busy organizing my house. My craft room has desperately cried for a makeover and while it is definitely in the works, I am also occupied with 3 little ones and other projects, so it's been rather slow-going.

After weeding through my linen closet, I decided it was time to retire the baby blankets. While I have a fabulous memory, I wanted to be sure that I would be able to remember who each blanket was for and from.

As my first baby, Taylor received the most baby blankets. After weeding out ones that weren't sentimental, I was left with these.

As my first daughter, Averi also received several lovely baby blankets. Noticeably absent (to family!), is Averi's beloved "blankie" (adopted from Taylor, who received it from Omi) which is on vacation in Idaho.

My last child, Ella, didn't receive any baby blankets since we obviously had plenty left over from the other two children. Instead, Ella adopted one of Taylor's blankets and so I made a tag that indicated as much.

Thanks for taking a peek! Feel free to check out some of my organizing projects here, or my organizing inspiration here and here on Pinterest.

Baby Pics From 1978 & 1979

Yesterday I went out looking/shopping for what I needed to finish the scrapbooking page (as mentioned in this post). Unfortunately I couldn't find what I wanted, so in order to complete the project I had to come up with another idea. I ending up buying an Adironack Espresso Bullet Tip Pen to hand write the title. I should have practised using it before using it on the actual piece intended to finish off the page.

In deciding on a style for this page, I do on ocassion enjoy CAS and I know that Dana loves it! So that is what I tried to achieve on this page since it displays baby pictures of Dana. My mistake? The roses! I just couldn't find something that would fit there, stamp, or embellishment, and chose to cutout the roses from scraps. And once attached I couldn't take them off without ruining the paper. So it is what it is. (sorry Dana ;) )

I love the colors, however, and took care with all of the liquid pearl details. The photo with Dana laughing, is one of my favorites of all her photos.

Maybe I need to make a card or two again to get back into some good design mojo....

Thanks for stopping by.
