File Folder Scrapping #4 - Limelight

Hello Everyone!

Today I'm sharing with you the 4th in the File Folder Scrapping series! I think each unit I make gets better and better. For this folder I used Kaisercraft's Limelight paper kit. Two packs actually, but I have enough left to make something more with it. The folder has four magnetic closure spots, and can hold a lot of photos!

The paper would lend itself well to photos of vacation, camping, hiking, gardening, graduation, tropical, family reunion, and more. So here we go!

This is what it looks like from the front...

 ...and from the back...

...and in the box holder with the others.

Now for the inside!

Lifting up the envelope flaps on each side reveals three accordion-like pockets holding photo tags.

When we close the envelope flaps again, we can lift up the flap that they are on to reveal...

...two center panels for photos and journaling. But there's more...

These panels are actually center folded pages tucked under. So when we unfold them we reveal layout variations! See them as I unfold them creating different layout configurations.

I didn't take photos of the tags in the pockets, but if you want to see a few more details you can watch this video walk-through of the project.

Hope you enjoyed today's posted project and are inspired to use this gorgeous paper by Kaisercraft. The instructions for this project are available on my other blog, Paper Architecture with Sabrina if you are interested in making this project.

Happy Papercrafting!

Repurposed Box for Card Set

My Mom has a dear friend that she wanted to give a gift to for Easter. She approached me and asked if I would make some cards in a box for this friend. She requested that the box be beautiful, but simple, and that the cards would have flowers on them. The cards also had to be easily mailed, with little bulk and weight to them.

I ended up going to my personal hoarded stash for things I wanted to use for myself in the future. I was just hoarding it all, and when would I really have the chance to use them when there are always more and more gorgeous papers piling onto my hoarded pile.

I began by making 10 A7 cards. The paper I used was given to me by a friend as individual sheets pulled out of a 12 x 12 pad. So I couldn't say where the designer paper came from. But It is gorgeous paper! Since the floral pattern was quite large I had to go with making the bigger cards. I made two of each, one in a landscape format and one in a portrait format.

Here they are.

Some of the flowers, or parts of the flowers had glitter already on them, but for the ones I framed, I covered entirely with sparkle by using Star Dust Stickles on them. This would help to bring out that one flower from the others. The only exception was the hydrangeas, as they were already all covered with glitter.

I took this box that you see here below, and originally had some chocolate goodies in it from last Christmas, and recovered it and re purposed the box. Here is the box before I covered it.

And, here it is after I covered it.

Secret Garden is one of my favorite collections, and it really changed the look of the box. I next created a divider for inside the box to have a section for the cards and envelopes, and a section for writing utensils, stamp envelope and a little box for rolls of stamps, or white out, or something else.

In this next photo you can better see the stamp envelope and the little box.

More of the little box and the envelope. I thought that the box could hold a couple of stamp rolls or some 'white-out', treats for when writing those lovely long letters to go in the card, or things to include in the card, like confetti, etc.

So that's it for this project that I made for my Mom to give to her best friend.

Hope you where inspired to try re purposing a box, too.

Happy papercrafting!

My Christmas Gift to Dad - Desk Set

Merry Christmas Dad!

I grew up having Christmas on Christmas Eve, and since we will be busy on the 24th, I'm scheduling this for that day... my Dad won't see it before Christmas Eve.

A person always wants to make something as a gift for a loved one that will be something they will like and use. My Dad likes to read and make notes using a lot of stickies or post-it notes. I came up with something I could make him and went through my stash of dollar store repurposing/project stuff. I found a frame, and a box that would work beautifully for what I had in mind. But, what paper could I use? What paper could I use for a man? I decided to check out the many scraps I have from all those classes I've taught. Guess what I found? A bin full of Graphic 45's Bird Song scraps! I love those papers.

So here is the end result.

I've included a frame so that my Dad (& Mom) can place in it a more current photo of me. I' happy that I had all these strips to work with! Let's look at the frame first, shall we.

You can see that I added some red on the side edges of the frame.

In this photo you can see the little knob that I added to the top of the frame, hanging a tassel I made with a wooden bead. I also created a charm using black chipboard and a couple of the stamps I had left from an 8 x 8 pad.

Looking at the box you can see a Kaisercraft Metal Label Pull for a place to hold and open the box with.

Here is the box open.

On the lid you can see that I repeated the image inside using the smaller version from the 8 x 8 pad, while the outside has the same image from the 12 x 12 cropped   bit at the top and bottom. this way I was able to hide the adhesive for both image panels while creating red side borders for the one on the inside!

You will also note that I line the box bottom with cork! I created divers with black chipboard and glued them into the box. I added an entire package of mechanical pencils from the dollar store, for my Dad. He's always needing a pencil sharpener, so I hope this helps him. Then I have, also from the dollar store, a variety of post-it note sizes and colours for his reading notes, and more. I created a little section to act as a mini bulletin board where he can post notes to himself or reminders, and the note can be seen even when the box is closed. With that little mini-bulletin section I then had include some tacks too.

I hope that my Dad will like this set. So back to both the frame and box together again.

So that's it for my Dad's Christmas gift. I found that I have enough Bird Song scraps to make a few more things. I wonder when I can get to that?

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas! A wonderful time of the year!

Interactive Circular Chipboard Album

- a fun project, and something I've wanted to make for myself for quite a while!

Hello everyone! I'm here to show you a fun project for a class where we use Echo Park's Circular Chipboard Interactive Album. I used My Mind's Eye Collectable "Memorable" collection making this a 'girly' or spring/summer project.

This is what it looks like before I started. It has these fun pull outs for each of the three pages in the album and comes with the rings. I painted the edges white before covering it all with the beautiful papers.

I've always wanted to make a little album that didn't have many pages so that I could showcase a couple of more recent photos for each of my five children and their families. That way I would have something to go to that had them all in one album. I thought this project fit the bill for the Echo Park ablum.

I thought that I wanted to something a little different than a bunch of flowers on the the album as is tradtionally seen with this kind of a project, and since the focus was 'family', I thought"hearts"! Why not use the circle theme along with hearts? And this is what I now have.
Front Cover...
Front cover pull out ... I used for an intro (journaling)

Opened to view double pages...

You can see that I used photos in a 4 x 6 size, which I usually don't like to do. But for  me, it worked very well in this project.

The first page is for my eldest, Dana, and her three children...

I continue with the circles and hearts throughout the album. Each little circle and heart has faux stitching around the edges, as well as the pages themselves.

I also used Library cards, which are archival and acid free, etc., matted to make my journaling tags tucked in behind all the photos on the pages.

The next page is for my oldest son and his family...First we see my lovely daughter-in-law with the girls.

The 4 x 6 photos fit perfectly in the pull outs of the album.

As we turn the page, we have the page for my daughter Eva and her family, and then my youngest son and his girlfriend. Unfortunately I couldn't find a photo of Eva and her husband with their two children, so I ended up using my grandchildren's latest photos until I can insert a better one.

That's my newest grandchild, Wyatt, in the cute bunny ears for Easter.... Let's see the pull out.

That's his big sister Claire, who will be turning 6 soon. The punched circles and hearts, and the library card tags continue throughout.

Here's the pull out of my younger son's page...with his beautiful girlfriend...

Sorry about the glare on the photograph.

The last page is for my youngest daughter. Just her in the photos, and wouldn't you know it that when I resign myself to using photos that are a couple years old, after the fact, there are suddenly new photos of her I could have used! Oh well, I can use them for another project.

Because I have a photo on the back I created another page by tracing the shape onto two pieces of cardstock and gluing them together. (The class will get a better matching cardstock. I didn't have any at the at the time I made this.)

Because both photos were landscape, I had to square this one off and tuck the journaling tag in differently than all the others.

...and this is what the back looks like...

Well that's it for this project. But, I do have a little run through video that you might like to watch.

Hmmm, having problems again...so here's the link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMtsTxTsoMs&feature=youtu.be

Thank you for checking to have a peek. Happy papercrafting!
