I Brake for Kittens!

Hello everyone!  My family just adopted 2 baby kittens, and however fun and adorable they are, that fact has kept me away from my craft desk quite a bit.  So I wanted to make a little kitten themed card today!

I colored the Kitty in a Can image and die cut it out.  I then used some scraps of coordinating patterned paper and some hot pink cardstock to make this fun layout.  The sentiment is from Florals Sheet.

Do you have any pets and do you use pet related stamps?

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

I Brake for Kitties!

Hello from design team member, Heidi!  I have a cute everyday card to share with you today.  I noticed this sweet Kitty in a Can image in the store and thought it would make such a sweet card for my many cat-loving friends and family members.  And working with it really made me happy!  It is amazing what great therapy stamping can be!

I colored it with alcohol markers and framed it out with several die cuts.  I stamped the sentiment (found in the Quarter Sheet Dahlia stamp set) on coordinating patterned paper and cut it out with a tag die.  A bit of baker’s twine and I felt this card was finished!

Thank you for reading the blog today! Hope your day is filled with creative moments!

I Brake for Flowery Cats!

Cats plus flowers make me happy. The Purrfect Day Cats rubber stamp sheet (Stampinback), available at I Brake for Stamps makes me really happy ecstatic because the sheet includes TEN floral cat silhouettes, four paw prints, two sentiments, one fish skeleton, and one matching flower for a total of 18 fabulous images on the sheet which means you'll be seeing LOTS of flowery cat creations from me! By the way, IBFS ships internationally.

Here's my card with one of the ten floral kitties!

Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink was smooshed (technical term) onto my craft mat, spritzed with water, then 140 lb. Mixed Media cardstock (Strathmore) was dragged through the diluted ink and heat set. This step was repeated with Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide ink, then Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink. When I was happy with the coverage,  Post-It Notes were placed across the cardstock and Peeled Paint Distress Oxide ink was sponged over top. I wasn't really thrilled with the color, so I sponged Peeled Paint Distress and Mowed Lawn Grass Distress ink over top.

Using my stamp positioner, the kitty from the Purrfect Day Cats sheet was stamped with Onyx Black VersaFine ink . I had to re-ink the stamp and stamp it again to get better coverage, most likely because inept. I can't wait to get ahold of the of one of the new trendy stamp positioner systems so that I don't have to be quite so careful when re-stamping an incomplete image! Anyway, I touched up the image using a Black Pitt Artist Brush pen.

A shadow was added under the cat using a Warm Grey Pitt Artist Brush pen.

The image panel was die-cut with one of a scalloped rectangle die. A larger plain rectangle die, a "Purr-fect" sentiment die, and the "Just" die were used to die-cut black cardstock. The image panel was matted with the plain black rectangle die-cut. The sentiment was adhered in place.

The leftover Distress Oxide sponged cardstock was die-cut with a Butterfly die ) and punched with a tiny dragonfly punch. The butterflies and the dragonflies were a bit boring, so I added Distress ink to them to perk 'em up a bit. My black marker was used to detail their bodies and edge them, then Black  Glitter pen was used to add a touch of glitter to them. The insects were adhered to the image panel and a Clear Glitter pen was used to add flight trails. The cardfront was adhered to a rust card.

I Brake for Stamps is where you'll find great selections of Stampinback stamps plus lots of other stamps from other stamp companies.

If you have any questions about the techniques or products I used, feel free to ask!

I Brake for Curious Cats!

Curious Cat is from I Brake for Stamps' collection of digital stampsCurious Cat was resized in PhotoElements, printed out onto Copic-friendly cardstock with my laser printer, and colored with my Copic markers. Several layers of Clear Gelly Roll Glaze pen (Sakura) were added to the glass to add dimension and shine.

Orange patterned paper was die-cut with a frame and a label die, then edged with Spiced Marmalade and Rusty Hinge Distress inks.

Patterned papers were layered and edged with the same Distress inks as above. Old  alphabet rub-ons were used to add the sentiment.

For what it's worth, Curious Cat is a very realistic stamp. Each of our cats has stuck his/her head into a glass, container, or bowl (usually in search of food molecules) and gotten stuck, which never fails to amuse us.

I  Brake for Stamps has a great collection of digital stamps plus a huge and varied collection of rubber stamps that you ought to check out right now. Click on my badge below to be whisked over to I Brake for Stamps to check out all of the goodies!

I Brake for Cats

It's no surprise to anyone who knows me that I'm a cat person. Or maybe it is. In either case, I am a proud cat lady. I love kittens, cats, and wild cats. If I could, I'd have a house filled with them. But alas, I can't for a variety of reasons, the biggest being that I'm actually allergic to the critters. Yep. It's true. I prove my love for my kitties by taking a plethora of allergy meds every.single.day.

As a paper-craftin' cat lady, I collect cat stamps, cat cutting dies, and cat punches. So, when I saw the cat image on the Cats and Buildings stamp sheet (Stampingback) at  I knew that one day it would be mine. It didn't hurt that I also really love architecture, have visited The Netherlands, and fell in love with Dutch architecture.

Since I'm still celebrating my birthday, I've been making lots of birthday cards. This is one of them.

When I first saw the Cats from the Cats and Buildings sheet, I immediately thought of the "Cat Lady Starter Kit" meme that's been circulating on the 'net for ages. I thought that I should try to make a birthday version, especially since one of my cats, Duchess, is crazy for boxes.

Cats from the Cats and Buildings sheet was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink (Tsukineko/Imagine Crafts) and colored with Copic markers. I felt like using unrealistic cat colors, so I did. When I was done coloring it, I fussy-cut the top bit of the cats, then used a Black Pitt Pen (Faber Castell) to edge them.

Thin cardboard was trimmed, scored, and folded to look box-like. All cut and scored edges were sponged with Black Soot Distress ink (Ranger) to look battered like the packages that arrive here. Colored tissue paper was torn and adhered to the back of the box and to the separate flap/front of the box piece.

An address label and a postage stamp from the Aeropostale Sticker Book (7 Gypsies) was roughed up and sponged with Black Soot Distress ink. In a very rare event, I wrote the address on the airmail label with a Sharpie pen. I rarely write on my cards and such because I'm hypercritical of my handwriting. "Fragile" and "This End Up" are from a very old Fortunes rub-on sheet (7 Gypsies). "Par Avion" is ancient rub-on by QuicKutz, and the arrow is from a Remnant Rub (Idea-ology).

A leftover scrap of textured Kraft cardstock was sponged with Fired Brick and Black Soot Distress ink. Washi tape was adhered to the center of the card front.

Another scrap of Kraft cardstock was die-cut with a Happy Birthday (Elizabeth Craft Designs), Celebrate (Elizabeth Craft Designs), and a tag die (QuicKutz). All the die-cuts were sponged with Fired Brick Distress ink. A heart die (QuicKutz) was used die-cut another scrap of Kraft cardstock and sponged with Fired Brick Distress ink. The sentiments were adhered vertically along the sides of the card front.

Equally ancient "For You" rub-on was applied to the tag and the heart was added. A pewter eyelet was hammered into the tag's hole. Postal-looking baker's twine was tired around the flap of the image panel/box and threaded through the hole in the tag. The image panel was adhered to the card front, which was then adhered to a 5" x 7" kraft card.

I Brake For Bister

Della here with a couple of cards I made using Bister Powder.  Love this stuff! All you need is a tiny amount of power and a spray bottle of water.  I made the background with the Bister powder, dried it with my heat gun, and then stamped with Stazon black.  The cat sheet can be found here and the sentiment can be found here.  All stamps are from the Stampinback line.

Thanks for Stopping by!  Have a great weekend.
