Awful Customer service! Unwanted automatic renewal — refused refund for completely unused service

I am deeply disappointed with Smallpdf's subscription practices. My account was automatically hit with an unwanted recurring charge without any prior notification. I immediately logged in, cancelled the automatic billing to prevent future charges, and contacted customer support to explain it was an accidental renewal. I have not used the service, uploaded, or converted a single file since this charge occurred. Despite this, getting a straightforward refund has been incredibly difficult. As a consumer, I am entitled to cancel an unused digital service, but the platform makes the process intentionally obstructive. Because of the lack of cooperation from support, I have been forced to escalate this directly to PayPal as a formal billing dispute and will contact my financial institution for a chargeback if necessary. I asked to speak to a supervisor or their complaints department and was flat out refused by the person I was speaking to. Update: Thankfully paypal have stepped in and resolved this now.
