New Thor Is a Woman

Don't call her She-Thor!
How do we break the news to Jane Foster?
Marvel on Tuesday announced a new Thor soon will be wielding Mjolnir - and that the character will be portrayed by a woman. The announcement was made on ABC's "The View." And make no mistake - this is the real Thor, God of Thunder. In the words of writer Jason Aaron:
"This is not She-Thor. This is not Lady Thor. This is not Thoria. This is THOR. This is the THOR of the Marvel Universe. But it's unlike any Thor we've seen before."
Aaron will be series writer for the new Thor, who debuts in October. Plot details are unknown, but the current Thor apparently becomes unworthy of the power.
Added Marvel editor Wil Moss:
"The inscription on Thor's hammer reads 'Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.' Well, it's time to update that inscription. The new Thor continues Marvel's proud tradition of strong female characters like Captain Marvel, Storm, Black Widow and more. And this Thor isn't a temporary female substitute - she's now the only and only Thor, and she is worthy!"

Marvel V. DC - The Next Stage - Looking at the Schedules for 2014 and Beyond!

By Ken Parker

Well, WB has released a very ambitious plan for the DC universe that certainly mimic’s Marvel’s success over the past few years.

May 2016 - BATMAN V. SUPERMAN
July 2016 - SHAZAM
Xmas 2016 - SANDMAN
May 2017 - JUSTICE LEAGUE
July 2017 - WONDER WOMAN
XMAS 2017 - UNTITLED GREEN LANTERN/THE FLASH TEAM-UP
MAY 2018 - MAN OF STEEL 2

This looks pretty cool but how will Shazam and Sandman do is a big question.  Man of Steel was not the massive success that Iron Man was and Green Lantern was not a determining factor in all this either.  Certainly the Batman franchise has been healthy but without Christian Bale and no stand alone Batman film in the plan, one has to wonder if DC can keep the momentum going.  The majority of audiences probably can’t tell the difference between DC and Marvel and will just see these as just more superhero films.  This may steer them to the franchise they have grown to know and love, Marvel.  Of course the Marvel path is a few years old now and perhaps the new franchise will be what people want to see, something different with DC.

Jamie Alexander Visits Children's Hospital As Lady Sif

In this time of Thanksgiving and Christmas it is good to see a story like this.  Jaimie Alexander dressed as Lady Sif from the Thor movies took time out of her schedule to visit the patients at The Children Hospital of Los Angeles.  She posed for pictures and have away autographed DVD's and posters.  In an age of just reading bad news all the time it is good to have a heart warming story.  So remember this Christmas season to remember those who aren't as fortunate as you.

The Avengers Movie Review (Hulk Smash Spoilers)

Being a diehard Avengers fan from the 80’s I was ecstatic to hear that they were making an Avengers movie.  Having started reading the book since the mid 80’s and having a complete run of the comic book from issue 200 to present day with about a  whole bunch from the 100’s that are scattered around with holes that need to be filled.  So being a true fan of The Avengers comic book this movie was a fanboys dream comes true.  So did it hold up to expectations or was it a fanboys nightmare.

Video from 'The Avengers:' Iron Man vs. Thor

Yes, we have yet another clip from the upcoming "Avengers" movie, which looks more awesome than ever. They say a picture is worth 1,000 words, so I'll just shut up and let you enjoy.

Thor, Captain America slug it out with, uh, guys dressed in special-effect suits

They say pictures are worth 1,000 words. If that's true, here's about 10,000 words as we watch Thor and Captain America doing battle on the set of "The Avengers" in the streets of Cleveland (a stand-in New York City), courtesy of Comics Beat.

Oh, and there's a video with the jump, too. Not sure how words that is worth.

Thor Movie Review (By Odins Beard Spoilers)

On one of those rare Mondays where there was no school due to a teachers workshop.  My son and I headed down to one of the areas many cinemas and took in the latest from Marvel Comics.  Of course I'm talking about Thor.  I was not a big Thor fan growing up as I did read some of his comics in the

3-D Movies Are A Fad

Despite all that has been going on, 3D films are a fad that will die out sooner or later. But it would seem that theaters don’t want this to be the case and are doing anything in their power to keep this gimmick going.

Thor comes out this Friday

Ok comic book fans and summer movie fans here comes the first of many this Summer Movie Season.  This Friday it's Thor.  I'm so amped to see this movie.  From the trailers it looks to be pretty good. Hopefully the story is just as good as the fight scenes.
