The Best and Some What Disappointing of 2013

Best of 2013
By Jeff Zyra

Here we are another year has yet again come and gone.  As the hours tick away to the beginning of 2014 I reflect on what was good for 2013.  There was a lot that was good but unfortunately there was a lot that was bad.  Lots of disappointments this year too as lots of movies and shows just did not deliver up to the expectations and hype.

For me the best part of 2013 was the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who.  While we had the continuation of Series 7 with the last eight stories the true highlight was the Anniversary celebration.  It got a head start with the announcement of two Patrick Troughton stories that had been missing for over forty years.  The return of The Enemy of the World and The Web of Fear was an unexpected treat in itself and the fans were able to purchase and watch these stories instantly on iTunes.  This was pretty amazing and surreal to be able to watch these as no one really expected that these classic stories would be found.

My Top Sci-Fi and Fantasy Disappointments

By Kenneth Parker

Over the years we all have had experiences where we went to go see a movie or sat down to watch a TV show and were devastated on what we saw.  Whether it was high expectations or just the fact that the product was bad, we were let down by the hope of something better.  Often this happens with sequels but it could also happen for something that looked good in the trailer or had all the elements for a good outcome.  In any case, we are left shaking our heads and either being sad or even mad, wondering how this could happen.

I have chosen a few of my own personal experiences, some you would expect to see while others might be controversial.  Not everything on my list is a bad product.  Some are excellent but because of expectations or other factors, they are deemed a let down to some degree.

Top Sci-Fi and Fantasy Movies That Need To Be Remade

By Ken Parker

While I would prefer new original movies, I do admit that remakes can sometimes be just as entertaining.  There are a fair amount of them in the works right now but I have selected some that I feel, if done well, could be excellent products.  Some of these were made so long ago that a remake would just allow new effects and ideas to flourish while others would just appeal to newer audiences.  I actually like or love all the movies listed below and so it is not because the originals were bad films.

UFO Spotted Near Mercury??

There has been a lot of real science news of late pertaining to outer space.  Time to wonder what this could be and do they come in peace.

There have been so many Sci-Fi movies with UFOs and flying saucers in them.  I guess this latest find would mean we are looking at a massive sized craft, if it is what. What if it was? As in movies and TV, alien craft coming to Earth is nothing new but do we remember some of these classics -

3-D Movies Are A Fad

Despite all that has been going on, 3D films are a fad that will die out sooner or later. But it would seem that theaters don’t want this to be the case and are doing anything in their power to keep this gimmick going.

Thor comes out this Friday

Ok comic book fans and summer movie fans here comes the first of many this Summer Movie Season.  This Friday it's Thor.  I'm so amped to see this movie.  From the trailers it looks to be pretty good. Hopefully the story is just as good as the fight scenes.
