Midgard bases and tokens

Introduction When I originally bought my 15mm Cromarty Forge Early Imperial Romans and Ancient Germans, I intended to use them for Infamy, Infamy and therefore ordered the correct amount of figures for starter forces.  However, even then I didn't want to be held to a particular game system and I'd decided to base the figures as flexibly as possible.  In reality this meant basing them individually.  And then Midgard came along.  This post details how I have based them to take into account these two rulesets.  Planning I'd tried a number of base sizes and eventually settled on 12.5 mm square bases for all melee (for want of a better definition) troops.  This was large enough so I could still pick the figure up by the base if needed, but still meant they looked relatively tight as a unit.  I used 15mm round ones for all missile troops and characters (leaders, standard bearers etc).   In Infamy, Infamy regular Roman units are based in groups of t...

December 2024 hobby update

Image
Well here we are another year done.  All in all its been a good one for hobbying. My Ovelist updates with summaries of the year for gaming and doing can be seen here and here respectively.  Let's hope 2025 is a good year in all ways for all of us. Completed There was a few things I really wanted to get finished before the end of the year.  Miniatures wise I’ve worked in four scales this month: First of all in 15mm I completed the Cromarty Forge Village Defenders.  This was the last of my 15mm.  Readers will know how much I've enjoyed working on these.  If I had my own 3D printer I'd probably have bought all their STLs and have printed so many figures that they'd never get painted, which is one of the many reasons I won't get my own printer!   Then I rebased a 32mm Sci-Fi figure.  This was one of the figures I completed in the summer, only to discover that the base was skewed and not truly round.  This jarred with my pedantic ways so I rebased...

November 2024 hobby update

Image
I really can't believe it's the penultimate update of 2024, where has the year gone?  I didn't manage to reach the heights of October, but November has been a steady hobby month with the Early Imperial Roman project entering the end of the first phase.  Completed I've completed quite a bit this month: I've continued basing the 15mm Cromarty Forge figures that I'd painted over the last few months completing: 44 Early Imperial Roman Legionaries 39 Ancient German warriors.  As well as basing these I'd not finished painting the shields , so I did all these while painting the shields for the noble warriors (see below).  The shields took ages to do but they've been worth it as they set the figures off well.  I don't want to paint anymore for a long while though. Still with the 15mm Cromarty Forge, I painted and based 36 Ancient German noble warriors that'd I'd prepared last month.  That's the last unit done with just have a few villager figures...
