STEVE JANSEN & RICHARD BARBIERI - Stories across Borders (1991)

Today a refined and ethereal atmosphere in this post.
A perfect soundtrack for a wintery and foggy Sunday.
Of course this music is not suitable for frenetic Christmas shopping but it is perfect for observing with detachment what is happening around us.

DAVID SYLVIAN - Dead Bees on a Cake (1999)

I have to confess that David Sylvian is, in this period, one of the most played artists on my devices.

I have this CD since many years and I found it very relaxing. The best for a quite  sunday morning at home.

Here a FLAC version:  Dead Bees on a Cake

DAVID SYLVIAN - Live in Theatre (1988)

David Sylvian live. Here I think he was at the top of his period.

The quality sound is good for this unofficial release on CD. Here a mp3 version I extract from Youtube. I

These days I am playing this more and more together with "the First day" of 1993 with Robert Fripp. That was another tour performed mainly in theatre and I am happy today I can say "I was there" for both tours.

DAVID SYLVIAN - Gone to Earth 1986

David Sylvian here at the top of his career. I don' t like what David is doing now (avantgarde and expermental) so I prefer to remember him like it  "was" years ago.
Here a rip of my original CD. It is only one files because is not so easy to separate the single traces (up to you).

JULIE'S HAIRCUT - Ashram Equinox (deluxe) -2013

Julie's Haircut is an Italian band, probably better known in other european country instead than in Italy. They start in 1994 but first album released in 2000.
"Ashram Equinox " 2013 (here in deluxe version taken from spotify) is a clear document of Julie's Haircut evolution to Psychedelic-ambient music. Some parts remember me the early Pink Floyd sonorities.
Really good. GREAT!!

TUXEDOMOON - Suite en sous-sol (1982)

We will have no more the opportunity to see Tuxedomoon live after  2017 Peter Principle death. I saw them twice in the last years with very good memories.
Here is a vinyl rip (Flac24_96) of my 1982 copy of Suite en sous-sol a double 12" with a mix of multicultural sounds.

HERE: Suite

In addition to this  here is  a link to a good  video-documentary of the band. Recorded in Italy during a preparation of one of latest tour.

AUDITIVE ESCAPE - Evolo (2012)

Auditive Escape (alias Jean Patier). It is the right choice for a relax night after a hard day. This French electronic, dub, trip hop "ensemble" is an interesting one. A lot of work self produced like this Evolo  (2012). This Trip-Ambent-Hop is really not bad.

THE KILOWATT HOUR - S. Mathieu/D.Sylvian/C.Fennesz (19/9/13 ALcatraz Milano)

Attracted by David Sylvian name I take the ticket for this concert at Milan. I saw D. Sylvian with R. Fripp several years ago and it this was the occasion to see him again.
Reading about the group THE KILOWATT HOUR I was disappointed to see that no voice or songs are part of the performance but electronic experimentalism and ambient music with video clips. I search on the web and I "tried " to listen to some piece (really not easy to listen to). So at the end I go to the concert with very few expectation and ready to attend to a bouring performance......but it was not so!!! It was really worse!!! Unbelievable. One hour and 15 minutes of flat and monothone noise with recorded voice  saying nonsense. Also the video on the back was something ridicolous. The three guys were sitting on their one desk (one for each one) looking at their  laptop video (and really I thought  "are they reading their mails or watching a film?")
Really a very poor experience last night. On the way home driving my car I prefer to listen to a CD. I played the new Franz Ferdinand one ....... Fine!!! That was the best part of last night.

DJ KRUSH - Krush (1994)

This is the first solo work of DJ Krush. The Japanese dj and producer is one of the most important names in the Trip Hop scene. A good compromise between the heavy hi pop experience and ambient, cool and electronic music. Result is something that I like and consider an "elegant".
fruit of '90 period.

GRAIG AMSTRONG - The space between us (1998)

Graig Amstrong switch from orchestra composer to synth and electronic music and specially as motion pictures soundtrack composer. He also collaborates with names  like Madonna, Massive Attack, U2  etc. In 1998 he produced this  work with jewels like "this love" (Elizabeth Frazer is always  wonderful ) and  "weather storm".

SADE - Lovers Rock

I don't know why but I see some connections (probably emotional) from the previous post (ADELE) and this one.
Yes there are a lot of differencies; it was a different period  but at the end we are speaking about great voices, good music, and........this is enough (for me)!!!

ADELE - great voices

Of course I have not to discover ADELE as new emergent talent of music but I want to post two songs from her new album "21" because they follow me in a recent  vacation.
It was just listening to this songs every day for a week that I appreciate the intensity of Adele interpretation. I think we have to include between "great voices " of this period.

- Set fire to the rain
- Someone like you

 listen to these!!!

PAT METHENY & BRED MEHLDAU - Metheny Mehldau quartet

http://www.mediafire.com/?lx8jjg848i3733g

This is wonderful for relax moments. I use to listen to this (or similar) for example on Sunday morning  just when I  wake up.  I Think it's a good way to start a new day.

EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL - Acoustic

I consider Tracey Thorn voice one of the "great voices" in my music world. Everything But The Girl was a strange element in the '80-'90 years music. Somebody classify their music in the "cool-jazz-pop" that means all and nothing. This album (1995 ) contain some classic tracks with the wonderful voice instrument of Tracey.

UAKTI - Aquas de Amazonas

Unusual sound is this from UAKTI, a Brazilian group famous because of the use of custom-made instruments. The collaboration with Philip Glass produces this extraordinary result in 1999. With this sound it seems to be directly in the Amazonas forest (I never been there but this is what I imagine to be).
