MORPHINE - Cure For Pain (1993)

Cure for Pain was the 2nd album of Morphine. The band from Boston created an original sound not easy to classify. Mark Sandman was the main actor with his two string bass and low tones voice. The result is really excellent.

CURE - Wish (30th anniversary 2022)

Wish was released in 1992 and it is considered one of the best Cure release. I have the original double LP version (a strange format for the time). In 2022  for the 30th anniversary Robert Smith prepare a remastering of the 1992 LP. 3 CDs are part of the deluxe edition. Here I share a copy of the CD number two with several unrealeased instrumental versions that I consider the real attractivity of this new edition:

TEMPERS - Services (2015)

I want to start the new year in the best way. Here a great work from an interesting duo from NY.

Tempers this is the name of the band and they catch me from the first listening. Not so many information available from the web but anyway you can have  also on spotify, deezer etc. also with their last work "Private life " (2019).

Services is anyway my favourite.

RITUAL HOWLS - Rendered Armor (2020)

Another proposal from my recent listening. This US band was in a spotify playlist presented by "Second Still". So I searched for some works and this is the last issued (dated 2020).
Interesting band and listening to this seems to me like a cocktail:
50% Sister of Mercy, 10% Wall of Voodoo, 10% Thin White Riot, 10% Various  and just a little of Simple Minds (track "Thought Talk" remember me Simple Minds at early works sonorities of Empires & Dance and Sons and Fascination).

ASYLUM PARTY - Picture One (1988)

As follow up of previous post, here is another French group with New-Wave sound. They were active between 1985 and 1990. Few notes also on Discogs about the band.
Dark-wave sonorities in this album.

SECTION 25 - Always now

Section 25 first LP "Always Now" is dated 1981. The vynil LP I have is one of my favorites and probably one of the most  played . Their name was always associated to Joy Division and there were a lot of contact point between the two bands. Ian Curtis produced their first single "girls don't count" and Martin Hackett produced Joy Division studio album and this one, too.
Personally I estimated Section 25 since the beginning and I am quite curious to follow the evolution of the group also after the death of Larry Cassidy (also here I see same similarities in the sound change with New Order after Joy Division).
Always Now remain probably their best work, here is the 1991 reissue with several bonus tracks  (non in the 81 LP ). The repetitive drumming and the lament of Larry voice are something timeless.

Enjoy: always now

ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN - Crocodiles

Echo & The Bunnymen  first LP "crocodiles" was on the scenes in 1980. Ian McCulloch group had never had the big success but their work were always of good quality with an original  dark and oniric  sound.
With changes in the components and with some experience as solists, Echo & The Bunnymen are still alive and the sound also with "recent" productions  (like "Siberia" 2006) have still the original charge.

LOVE AND ROCKETS - Earth Sun Moon

Love & Rockets alias 3/4 of Bauhaus components is an example of the fact that not always the disband of a great band (Bauhaus) means  the end of the story. From Bauhaus ashes two wonderful reality comes: from one side Peter Murphy start a brilliant solo carrier and on the other side David J, Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins  created  Love & Rockets. The sound is different from Bauhaus, but it is a great sound. Listening to their works I cannot avoid to compare with some Pink Floyd sonority.
Earth Sun Moon is  athipic in Love and Rockets discography. This is the most  "oniric" of their work and not the most known.

BAUHAUS - Bela Lugosi's Dead

One of the dark-post punk  Milestones. Who doesn't remember the Live show of Bauhaus in the Movie "The Hunter " (Myriam si sveglia a mezzanotte) with actors like Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie, It was a cult

enjoy.
