This Week's Questions:
1. Are you excited for the holidays or are you dreading them?

Closer to dreading than excited. The older I get the less excited I am. Putting up the decorations just seems like more and more work. And I love buying presents for those I care about...but it seems to get harder every year. Mom & Dad buy everything they need when they see they need it. And my son and husband are so specialized with what they want (games & audio/visual stuff) that it's hard to surprise them. And, then, there's the friend who decided we just shouldn't "do this present thing anymore." Takes a lot of the joy out of it.


2. Do you hit the snooze button or get right up?

Neither. I wake up to the radio. I lay there in a semi-doze and listen to a few songs until the news comes on. I listen to the news and weather and then get up. It's how I ease into the day.

3. Do you still have your tonsils?

Yep. I wanted them out when my cousins had theirs out (I was about 5 or 6). There were rumors of ice cream. The doctor said I didn't need them out. In fact, he was one of the old-fashioned types who believed that God gave you those parts for a reason and they weren't coming out unless it was absolutely necessary. Then when I was about 12, I had another bout of tonsillitis (I was prone to it) and he told me that if I had one more bout then the tonsils would come out. I told him I didn't want them out now. I didn't have any more tonsil problems for a good long while after that.

4. What was the last piece of candy that you ate?

Um. Not sure. It was at work on Friday and was either a plain Hersheys or a Dove dark chocolate. Or maybe an Almond Joy. I have all of those in a basket on my desk. Left-over fun sizes from Halloween.


5. Do you shop at thrift stores?

I have--and have found some great clothes. But I haven't done so lately.

1. My favorite kind of animal is _______? Dogs
2. Do you like your handwriting? No. Never have, but especially not now that I type so much. It's really gotten bad.

3. What is the last movie you saw? Just watched Ten Little Indians (version with Fabian) here at home. Last one at a theater: Star Trek 2009 (yeah, I don't get out much)

4. Do you buy things on eBay? I don't--no account. But when I want something, my husband does for me.
5. What did you have for lunch yesterday? Jr. size sloppy joe and a jr. size ice cream cyclone from Jiffy Treet (local ice cream place)

1. The thing that scares me the most is __________? Losing someone I love.
2. Do you like nuts in your Chocolate Chip cookies? Absolutely NOT. Not a fan of nuts in much of anything, actually. I like nuts, just not in things.

3. If you couldn't change the channel, what tv show would drive you from the room? Um. Probably just about anything recent. I'm not a TV watcher anymore.

4. Pulp or no pulp in your Orange Juice? No Pulp! I don't like floaty things in my drinks.
5. Who do you miss the most? Someone who's no longer with us: My Grandma Ingols. Folks who are still here--but not HERE: Paula and Nikki--two of the friends I've had the longest.

Dark Chocolate Ball from See's Candy (sent to my at the office by my loving hubby for our 20th Anniversary)



2. Do you "read" in the bathroom?
Sometimes. Mostly in a bubble bath when I do.

3. I can't stand when someone _________?
Comes in to the ENGLISH Department where I work and asks a question that makes it obvious that they cannot read and comprehend the language--this is mostly directed at those folks who are claiming that they are trying to earn a degree in said language and have not read the emails/info sheets/whatever that they have been given as they work their way towards the degree.

4. Do you do daily, weekly or monthly grocery shopping?

2. What was the first car you ever owned? Buick Skyhawk. Biggest lemon ever. (And, yes, that's actually me in 1989 with my first car.)




3. Which TV Show were you sad to see end? M*A*S*H* (I would say Star Trek--original series; but I wasn't actually around when it went off the air. I'm still sad that it only had three seasons though.)




4. What is your lucky number? Don't really have one. But I like 7.



5. Pretzels or Potato Chips? Potato Chips. Kruncher's BBQ (even though I know they have a zillion calories and fat and are one of the worst kind for you...of course, that's why they're so good)

1. If you had to eat only one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? I'm going to to go for pizza. You can do so many things with the toppings that hopefully I wouldn't get tired of it.

2. Do you write your blog posts in advance or the day you post them? Usually, I do them the same day. Since I've joined the A-Z Blogging Challenge for April, I've been scheduling some of those because there just aren't enough hours in the day sometimes.

3. Have you ever ridden in an ambulance? No--thank goodness. Although my son has--and if there was any way I could have traded places and had it be me rather than him, I would have.

4. What is your favorite candle scent? None. Unfortunately, I'm allergic.

5. Coffee or tea? Tea. Absolutely. I don't like coffee--despite my mother-in-law's attempts to win me over.

1. What jewelry do you wear 24/7? None. If I wear my wedding ring to bed, my finger swells and it turns nasty colors.




2. Do you twirl your spaghetti or cut it? Twirl. Unless the spaghetti just won't cooperate, then I cut.




3. How many siblings do you have? None--first, last, and only.
4. Were you named after anyone? Not intentionally. My parents tried very hard NOT to name me after anyone. After I was named, a great-great aunt or some such came crawling out of the woodwork, pleased as punch to have a namesake.


5. Coke or Pepsi? Neither. I don't care for cola. Give me diet 7-Up any day. Actually, I'd prefer diet Cherry 7-Up, but only if I can have the old kind before they "new & improved & antioxidanted" it and ruined the flavor.

This Week's Questions (today has been very tiring, so I'm afraid I'm just going to answer the questions and not go hunting pictures...):

1. Do you have a fireplace in your home? No, but I've always wanted one.
2. Can you drive a stick shift? No. My husband was supposed to teach me when we had our little Geo Metro. We got rid of the car before he ever got around to it.
3. How many computers are in your home? Three. One desktop and two laptops (mine & son's).
4. Are your taxes done yet? Do you do them yourself? Taxes done. I don't do them, but Hubby does. Bless him.
5. What is your favorite meal of the day? Breakfast. I love the comfort foods of breakfast. Now, understand, I might decide to have breakfast for dinner....

1. What is your favorite way to eat potatoes? Mashed!




2. What was the last package that was delivered to your house? In general? Mail order prescription for the Hubby. For me? DVD version of Star Trek 2009...late Valentine's Day present (I've been asking for it since it came out...)













3. What is your favorite scent that you love to smell? Baked bread (or cookies or brownies or any of those other carbs that I'm not supposed to eat so much of).



4. Do you smoke? Nope. Never have...had an uncle who smoked like a chimney and it turned me off of it permanently.



5. Are your parents married or divorced? Still married (43 years and counting).

1. What are you wearing right now? My "Merry Grinchmas" boxer shorts (black with Santa Grinches all over them) and an oversized t-shirt. I'm in my nightwear. Sorry, no actual pictures of me. But these are the actual boxers.



2. Do you have freckles? Yep--a light sprinkling over the nose. (I'm not a red-head & I don't have quite that many....)




3. What is your favorite Lifesaver flavor? Cherry!




4. What is the last movie you saw in the theater? Star Trek (2009). We don't do a lot of movie-watching in the theater.




5. Would you rather live without tv or without music? TV--no question. We've been unplugged from cable for years now. I don't miss it one little bit. In fact, as busy as I am with reading & blogging & writing...I have no idea when I'd watch anything if we actually got hooked up again.

1. Did you get any Valentine's Gifts? So far I've had a heart-shaped box of chocolates delivered at work (by UPS, not a flying squirrel--although that would have been cool). Hubby says there are two more items coming by mail...maybe the squirrel will bring those. :-)

2. What is your favorite topping on something toasted? Chocolate & Graham Crackers on toasted marshmallows...S'mores!


3. Do you pick out your outfit the night before? Generally. I get moving before the hubby and if I don't pick them out the night before I have to wake him up to get in the closet. He's much more pleasant in the morning if I don't do that.


4. What food item do you absolutely despise? Brussels Sprouts. Ewwwwww! I've hated them since I was small. My dad had a rule that you had to eat one tablespoon of whatever was on the table. And you could not leave the table until you had. Somehow he managed to balance three of those things on the spoon. They sat on my plate all through dinner. When dinner was done...there they still sat and so did I. No amount of pleading would change Dad's mind. I finally ate them cold. And vowed that I would never eat another Brussles sprout again.



5. Righty or lefty? I'm right-handed. There are times I wish I could use both though--I could get twice as much done!

1. Did you watch the Superbowl? No. Haven't watched one in years. Spent my time doing one of my favorite things...reading. Of course, it's not that warm or nice now. And I'm not nearly that young....



2. What is the last book that you read? All Booked Up by Terrie Curran. Cozy mystery at a library with a couple of professors as amateur detectives. Click title for a review if it sounds interesting.



3. What is your favorite kind of cake? Chocolate or cheesecake. Mmmm...cheesecake sounds really good right now. Even better...how about white chocolate cheesecake. Oh yeah!


4. Do you snore? Sometimes. According to the hubby. But so does he.


5. Do you play an instrument? Not really play. I used to know enough to bang out songs one note at a time on a piano. Probably couldn't even do that now.

1. What do you put on your hot dog? Generally...ketchup and just a hint of mustard. But for preference coney sauce...good and meaty...with cheese!



2. Do you play Sudoku? Occasionally. A good friend of mine suggested it to me. But honestly, I prefer word games...like Find-A-Word or Fill-It-Ins.
3. What is your favorite vegetable? While I do like vegetables...at least enough to eat them, I'm not really sure that I have a favorite. Um. Maybe cucumbers? In vinegar with onions. Yeah. I'll take that.



4. Do you color your hair? Nope. What you see is what you get--only a bit more silver in those locks. (And, yes, this is really me)



5. What is your favorite brand of clothing? Cold Water Creek. Hands down.
