Closing date for the challenge is Sunday 27 October at 12noon GMT and don't forget to link your actual blog post so we can come and visit you!

Ruth:  Something a little bit different from me - I went for an unusual fold card and made this!  Use papers from A Home For Christmas along with some ribbon, half pearls I found in my stash and some die cuts.  The sentiment ticket is also from the cd.

Shell- I decide to go for a very simple but effective Christmas card this week.  I have a lot of cards to make this year and I need something that would be quick but also look good too. I think this fits the job nicely.
I used some papers and a sentiment off  A Home For Christmas CD

JAN - I chose to make a 'Three Panel Screen Card' for my folded design, using the fabulous 'A Home for Christmas CD'.  The baubles are also cut and folded to give a lovely 3D effect.

Anjie -  I decided to do a gatefold easel for this challenge for something a little bit different.I have used images and papers from the A Home for Christmas CD Collection. The images are coloured with Graph'It Markers and slightly distressed with a distress ink. I've added some spider web, flowers and buttons. There's some real fun images in this collection, it's not all about people, although there are some in it, it's more about houses and Christmas Characters, so there is something for everyone.

Lizzie - I used the wonderful A Home For Christmas CD for the papers and embellies. I printed a piece of card both sides and then printed a template I have had for ages on one side and cut out and adhered it together. I did the shoes papers opposite to each other as I thought they would make great place settings on my Christmas table, alternating them along the table. I printed and cut out lots of holly, used gems to bling up.
One shoe I added Stickles glitter glue, I didn't want the shoes the same ! I added some chocolates in a bag with ribbon and printed names, adding holly again.
This is what the shoes look like empty .........NO I didn't eat the chocolates .......... honest !!!

Kim  I've made an envelope gift bag (a tutorial for this is below the challenge post) using papers, topper and sentiment from the A Home for Christmas cd
Bev Oh this weeks challenge was so much fun! I made a never ending, kinetic card, using papers and embellies from A Home For Christmas I just added a bit of sparkle to make it pop.
Patty I used the wonderful A Home For Christmas CD  to make this cute boys and girls Christmas tags! I use lots of tags at Christmas.  I printed the cute girls and boy images on white cardstock and cut them, then aged the white tags, cut a piece of white border and when all the pieces were cut I adhered it all together. I added the red ribbon and tied a small bow with the twine to add with the brown button.
Hopefully the DT have inspired you to make your project for this weeks challenge and we cannot wait for you to share it with us. Please use Mr Linky to add your details so we can come over and see your project in full.

Ruth - I've decided to make a little scene with a tiny canvas and I've used one of the main pre-coloured images from Bonbon Belles along with the toadstools from Sundae of Seasons.  I printed the toadstool sheet to a quarter of the normal size so that they would be small enough for the scene.  The bunting is made with two cocktail sticks and I coloured some offcuts of card with Promarkers to match the colour scheme!

Shell - For my card this week I have used papers from the Bonbon Belles CD and the image is from the Sundae of Season CD, I cut some spooky shapes to make a little scene on my cameo then I put it all together inking the edges of the papers to define it a little. I always think of Halloween at Autumn time so went with a Halloween card.

JAN - I used a multitude of images from both the 'Sundae of Seasons CD' and the 'Bonbon Belles CD' to create my Autumn scene, together with some cut out fallen leaves for extra embellishments. I inked in the sky behind the scene with distress inks and as we have had such nice weather into the beginning of Autumn this year, I even added some sunshine too!

Anjie For my card I have used papers, images and embellishments from the Bonbon Belles Double CD Collection and from the Sundae of Seasons CD-Rom. I created a background in a graphic program and added some shadows to give depth. I also cut some leaves out separately to add some 3D embellishments to the card.

Lizzie - I made a gift bag with an Autumnal scene on the front. I used a paper from Bonbon Belles for the background, adding houses, characters, brown leaves and fences from the same CD. The apple trees and pumpkins came from Sundae of SeasonsI love Autumn ! I used a die to make the shape of my bag. I used my distress inks around the edges, glittered up the houses with my Stickles, and then added ribbon for the handles. The main part of the bag is a white paper Kraft bag. I just cut it down to fit inside my die cuts ! It was hard to photograph so I have put two pics here for you.

Bev.....  OOOOhh, Autumn my favourite time of year I think, especially the sunny days and the changing colour of the leaves. I used the gorgeous scarecrow digi from Sundae Of Seasons along with the sunflowers which I coloured with my alcohol markers. The fences are from Bonbon Belles this time I printed off the ready coloured images. I laid out my scene on a quick Pan Pastels background then matted and layered it up onto an 8x8 card.

Lucy: For this challenge I used Bonbon Belles and Sundae of Seasons CD Roms. I used the leaves and toadstools from the Sundae of Seasons and the fairy from Bonbon Belles. I apologise for the blurry picture! My puppy chewed the cable for my camera! So I had to take this on my phone! Luckily, Nikky's products are sooo good they even look good blurry! ;)

Kim - I've used BonBon Belles cd for the images - which I've merged together to make a little scene (just love that cute little fox!).  The papers are also from the cd, with some added twine, a button from stash and some Spellbinder die cut leaves.

Hopefully the DT have inspired you to make your project for this weeks challenge and we cannot wait for you to share it with us. Please use Mr Linky to add your details so we can come over and see your project in full.Remember you have until Sunday 13th October noon to enter this challenge.

Week 36 Challenge - Significant Birthday or Occasion

Welcome to a new Polkadoodle challenge!  Before we share what the challenge for this week is, I need to announce the winners from challenge 34 which was All Things Bright and Beautiful, and the top three are:

1st Place - Alexanda - please use the code PD1W3634 to claim your prize which is a
wonderful DigiWorld Downloadable!
2nd Place - Nicola - please grab your blinkie from the sidebar
3rd Place - Lisa Barton - please grab your blinkie from the sidebar

Right, onto the challenge, the them is:

Significant Birthday or Occasion

The twist to the challenge is that you can't make a card - you can make anything else but just no cards and if you're stuck for inspiration, just look at the Design Team creations below!

The winner of this challenge will get a DigiWorld Download.  Please don't forget our rules - they are at the bottom of this post otherwise you won't be in with a chance to win!

Onto the Design Teams creations!

Ruth:  Both my boys have Birthdays in the first half of September (I know, bad planning!) - Jacob is 8 today and Samuel will be 10 next Friday and to help celebrate his birthday I've made these cute star cake toppers!  Really easy to make - I've printed a sheet of paper from Picknix 2 - Gingerbread Twist (yes - it can be used for non Christmas projects!), die cut the stars, inked edges, added a dotted line with a black fineliner, stuck a cocktail stick to the reverse and added some die cut numbers!  Lets hope he likes them!

Lou: I have made a wallet to house my Dad's presents and is made to match the card I shared with you all yesterday. I have stamped Kraft card using Studio 12 stamps, Distressed Checkers, embossed with a Happy Birthday Folder, restamped using circle stamps from Studio 12 Distressed Zig & Zag and finally, covered it with Versamark, embossing with clear powder. I hope it gives the outside of my wallet a leather feel. For the inside I have used a paper from Studio 12 Picknix Vol 1 CD and made areas to put the vouchers inside and a space to write a greeting. For the decorative stitching, I have used a running stitch stamp from Studio 12 Distressed Zig & Zag. I have closed the wallet with a leather stramp secured in place with a metal "70". Full details can be found on my blog.

Shell-I have made a cute little box for the challenge this week. I printed my paper from the Gingerbread Twist CD, I then made that into a cute little box on my cameo. I had a play with my meltpot and made a gorjuss little frame for a picture of my Granddaughter. This is for her to give to her aunty for her 21st Birthday. Added a few flowers to finish it off. More pics will be on my blog.

JAN - I decided to decorate a gift bag for a 50th birthday prezzie. I used one of my favourite papers from the Picknix 1 CD and some gorgeous Studio 12 stamps called 'Shabby Owl Blossom', which I coloured with my Promarkers. I also used the 'Distressed Zig Zag' stamps around the edge to look like fake stitching. Now what shall I put inside?

Patty - I've opted to use the gorgeous Cherryblossom Lane Collection. To make a box to be used as a party favor to add some mini cookies and serve it on a 3rd bithday party celebration. I printed off a few of the papers to make the Box and also printed the Happy Birthday tag that comes as a part of the sentiment on the CD. My friend loved the idea because the invitation were a small flowers just like the ones on the paper.  All papers are from the same CD. I add the pink knot as a delicate touch.

Anjie - For my project this week I have used papers and images from the Studio 12 CD-rom Picknix Collection 2 Gingerbread Twist. I have covered a plain MDF money box to give to my new Great Nephew for his 1st Christmas. I have lightly distressed the edges and added faux stitching. More photos can be seen on my blog.

LizzieI used the Studio 12 Cd  Picknix to make this box using papers to line and cover the box. AND I made flowers with it too! The leaves are from a Marianne Die. I used a Sizzix die to make the flowers. Of course I glittered the edges of the layers and flowers with my stickles. The sentiment I printed on my computer. On all the edges and corners of the papers and flowers I used distress inks to make it pop. A few gems and volia! Done!

Kim - I've made a 21st Birthday Gift Box!  I've used Studio 12 Picknix cd for the papers and numbers. I've added some distress inks, button and charm. I've used scraps of the papers with some faux stitching for the 'patchwork' background.

Bev Oh Boy did I struggle with this one. Challenge was certainly the right word. I was so far out of my comfort zone you wouldn't believe it BUT I hung in there and stuck with it and came up with this gorgeous little frame as a keepsake for my brothers fast approaching 50th. The papers are from Picnix 1 Cd ROM they are lush and look like real fabric. I added a few little embellishments using other bits from the cd all I added was acetate, string and a button. Believe me if I can do it, anyone can. Give it a go

Now it's your turn and you have until 12noon on Sunday 15 September to enter and Good Luck!

3rd Place -
Suzanne B - please use the code PD3W3432 to claim your prize

You each win a wonderful DigiWorld Downloadables!

Right, onto the challenge, the them is:

All Things Bright and Beautiful

Onto the Design Teams creations!

Ruth:  I've altered a little canvas and added stamped images from the Studio 12 collection - Dreamy Trees and House of Hearts.  I've coloured everything with Promarkers and added the bunting banner with some offcuts and cocktail sticks!  The heart has been layered with glossy accents but its not shown up too well!

Asha - I love Christmas and wasn't about to miss out on a Christmas challenge for no good reason! So I'm gate-crashing team B's party with this festive step card. The colours are bright, the baubles are bold, the presents are plentiful and the fairy... oh so beautiful! All papers, images, elements and greetings are from Polka Doodles' fabulous new Christmas collection called Angelberry Christmas. To finish my card I used just one thing - some twine! For dimension, I popped the pressies up on some foam tape...and I'm done!

JAN:  Hehe, I guess this one's open to interpretation, because I didn't think Christmas at all! I saw lovely bright colours and that led me straight to the 'Tropical Sorbet' section of the fantastic 'Bonbon Belles' CD. I have never used this colour combination before, but I love it and the sentiment is fab. Take a closer peek to see all the little extra flowers that I cut out and decoupaged on the flower wreath!

Lizzie - So..... I thought what to do ..... for the challenge well ....Red is a bright colour and this box I saw is beautiful so I decided to have a go making it !! Oh what fun I had !! Just look at those poinsettias they are lush !! And so easy to make. Of course I had to glitter up my poinsettias with Stickles ! I layered the poinsettias and curled them to give them dimension. Just loving them !! I used the new Angelberry CD for the papers, poinsettias and the holly.

The box itself is folded ! YES ......... Folded !! I used a die for the base of the lid, border punches and gems. Oooh yes and I used my new watermark on my photos I got from Polka Doodles ! Check them out there are a few to choose from !

Anjie - For my project this week I have made a card with colours that I think are bright and beautiful.
The image, papers, messages and embellishments are all from the fabulous Bonbon Belles Double CD. From my stash I've added some ribbon and a doily.

Shell- My card this week uses one of the Emma Canning digi's from the store here the image has been coloured with copics, and the papers are off the Angel Berry CD (not just for Christmas) All the die cuts have been cut using my cameo.

Kim - I used the Angelberry Christmas cd to print off some gorgeous papers and topper - and added my own sentiment. I've made a simple gift bag from an envelope, and just added some glitter, ribbons and buttons

Lou: For my project I have used a selection of Studio 12 stamps and Polka Doodle stamps and have cheated a little by making the sentiment match the theme! Stamps used are Shabby Chic Roses, the heart is from "Distressed Zig and Zag" set and the sentiment was made using the "Distressed Typewriter Alphabet". The background was created using the checkerboard stamp from "Wonderland Stamp Set" and I have used this stamp on the flowers and leaves for added definition. All images and sentiment are coloured with various distress inks. Finished with some ribbon and chipboard buttons which I have covered with left over Polka Doodle papers.

Now the lucky winner of this week challenge will win a wonderful DigiWorld Downloadables, which is a great way to begin your Polka Doodles digi obsession. There are lots to choose from!.

Now it's your turn and you have until 12 noon on Sunday 1 September to enter and Good Luck!

Week 32 Challenge - In The Garden

Before we begin this weeks challenge, the winners of Challenge #30, Christmas in July, are as follows

1st Place - Laura Love - please use the code PD1W2424 to claim your prize
2nd Place - Delphine - please use the code  PD2W2424 to claim your prize
3rd Prize - Debbie Simpson - please use the code PD3W2424 to claim your prize

Congratulations to you all - you have all won a copy of our "Emma Canning Nature digi kit"!!!. Please all email Nikky and don't forget to quote your winner's code - we cannot release prizes without it!  Blinkies are in the sidebar for you to grab. Did you also notice that your prize also fits in with this weeks challenge .... hee, hee, hee!

Now the theme this week is .....
"In the garden"
and we cannot wait to see what projects you make using this theme as your starting point. However .... just to keep the DT on their toes, (lol) they have an added twist this week ........ as well as using the theme, they are also using different "DigiWorld Downloads" to help create their projects. You will find their projects this week under the relevant DigiWorld download they have used.

Our Top 3 winners of this challenge will all win one of these great downloads and our No 1 winner will get both of these fabulous bundles to play with so make sure you get your entries in!

Using the Shake a Tail Feather kit....
Tail Feather download bundle

ANJIE: For my card this week I used a graphic program to create the card, so everything is flat, although it doesn't look it because of the shadows that are on the elements in the download kit! Digi kits (and CD's) are great for creating cards for those who are conscious of postage charges, but you still have the freedom to be as creative as you like.
JAN:  Here's my project using the 'Shake a Tail Feather' download - I made a garden journal to keep gardening tips in - I will add pages as I go along.
Ruth:  I've gone for a very clean and simple and a monochrome finish this week.  I really do like the black and white image that comes with the kit, so I printed it onto linen white card, mounted it onto black card and then added it to the white linen card base.  I've then added some tiny gems here and there and then tied a fancy black ribbon bow to the top.  Quick, easy and simple!
Using the Hootie Trees kit....
      Hootie Trees Download Bundle
Liz: Its my turn to do a tutorial, so I wanted to do something other than a card. I used this fabby Digi Download to make my family tree. EVERYTHING you see that is printable on this project is from this download!!! I am researching my family history and I thought what better way to use these trees as a picture board for my little girls room!! In fact as its the summer hols you could make this with your child very easily. After all they all do their family tree at school!! What a great project to take to show and tell! The idea is each tree type is a different generation. Check out this weeks tutorial for how I made it.
KIM - I've used the Hootie Trees download bundle to make a little 'mini album' created from one sheet of plain 12" square paper, and some of the gorgeous papers, sentiments and trees from the download.

Now the lucky winner of this week's challenge will win one of these delish DigiWorld Downloadables, which is a great way to begin your Polka Doodles digi obsession. Why not check out all the other digi downloads in the shop as there are oodles and oodles of Polka Doodle loveliness waiting to inspire you.

Now for our challenge for this week and the theme chosen is:

Christmas in July!
Yes, we cardmakers are already thinking of the festive season even though the heat is blistering here in the UK, so get your Christmas stash at the ready and show us your wares!  Our favourite top 3 entries for this challenge will each win a copy of our brand new Christmas collection, Angelberry Christmas, which is just adorable and is worth £11.99!

Lou: for my card, I designed my own mittens template to make a free standing swing card thingy (lol). All the paper, embellies and sentiment are from the Angelberry Christmas CD. When the card is "flat" it will fit in to an A5 envelope.

Kim - My Christmas in July card features a gorgeous digi and papers and sentiment all from the gorgeous 'Angelberry Christmas'!  I've coloured the digi with alcohol pens, added lots of glittery stuff, some ribbon, punched snowflakes and pearls.

Ruth:  It appears that I have broken with tradition this week and gone for the Studio 12 cd - Gingerbread Twist - probably because I was feeling rather peckish and these gingerbread people look scrummy to eat!  All papers and images are from the cd and I've added organza ribbon from my stash.
JAN - I have made a central stepper card using paper and images from the brand new 'Angelberry Christmas' CD. I couldn't resist this little guy - can you see his shiny nose (with a little help from my glossy accents!)

Lizzie- For my card  I used a digi image from the new mini CD Angelberry Christmas I coloured her using promarkers. Papers are from the Gingerbread twist CD. I used my Stickles glitter glue to jazz up the Marianne die cuts of the stars and icicles. boy it sparkles this card !!! Added some gems and voila !!!

I also made this card using the pre-coloured image and embellies this is all from the Angelberry CD. I used the embellies to make banners !!!  Hope you like it !

Shell- For my card this week I have used the gorjuss new Angelberry Christmas cd. I cut a ice skate shape on my cameo, then added a little trim and a flower to finish

So there is our inspiration this week!
You have until 12 noon on Sunday 4th August to enter and good luck!
