#1726 Swamp serve daemon doesn't run with --hot-reload

Opened by svendowideit · 8/19/2026· Shipped 8/19/2026

Description

I updated the news extension, and wasn't sure if the running swamp serve would notice

(hmmm, tbh, why doesn't swamp extension pull in a dir that is also for a swamp serve daemon do that)

kinda surprised, perhaps there's a reason?

I also tried

systemctl reload --user swamp-serve

which probably should do the same thing too

Steps to Reproduce

sven@t440s:/src/swamp/repo$ swamp serve daemon status Status (user service): running Enabled: yes PID: 78163 Logs: journalctl --user -u swamp-serve sven@t440s:/src/swamp/repo$ swamp serve reload

Error: No PID file found at /home/[REDACTED]/src/swamp/repo/.swamp/serve.pid. Is swamp serve running with --hot-reload?

Environment

  • swamp version: 20260819.011806.0-sha.a9c7ee9a
  • OS: ubuntu 26.04
  • Shell: bash

wait, why didn't it fill this in automatically?
