One Year Stats

Keegan had a wonderful birthday on Wednesday and today got to go have his 1 year appointment which means lots of tears!! He got several shots and a prick in the toe but did really well and only cried for a little bit until I gave him his sippy cup of milk. That seemed to calm him down and he quickly became one tired little boy. He fell asleep the second we got in the car and slept for almost two hours (that's a lot for Keegan!).

His stats are in:

21.4 lbs (25th percentile)
30 in long (50th percentile)
18 in head (75th percentile)

His head doesn't seem that big....but overall Keegan is doing great. The doctor said his left molar has already cut through--ouch! That's why he's been so cranky lately!! :) Those molars are tough to see since Keegan doesn't often want to show them to me but hopefully mom can give him some more medicine and be a little more sympathetic. :)

Here's a couple of pics from the party:

Daddy and Keegan getting ready for the guests to arrive. We had both cupcakes and a regular cake but Keegan just got one cupcake. :)

Keegan opening gifts...well, Mommy did most of the opening. He did lots of enjoying of the gifts though! :)

Happy First Birthday!!

Seems like only yesterday we were bringing this tiny little boy home from the hospital. And now he's all grown up and having his first birthday today!! He's nearly walking (usually only makes it 5-10 steps before hitting his rear :) ) and is definitely not my little baby boy anymore. But he has been so fun to watch grow. There are times when I don't think my patience can last one more second so I ask Andrew to watch him and five minutes later I miss him--he is just so sweet and irresistible. I love my little Keegan guy and am so glad he joined our family.

We got his pictures taken this morning and he wasn't quite his smiley self but I still thought he looked pretty cute in his new overalls. :)

There's that smile! He was trying to rock this chair back and forth...a little scary for Mommy but as you can see, very fun for Keegan. :)

Happy Birthday, Keegan!!

Triple Stroller

Many of you may know that I started watching a little girl who lives up the street from us. We decided that since Keegan and Lily (the little girl) are only 5 months apart we'd need a double stroller. After much deliberation I decided on the Double Sit N Stand since it can convert from a double stroller to a traditional Sit N Stand. Today this stroller became a triple stroller:

Uh, does anyone need a dog? Cause ours doesn't act like one anymore!! :) I was so embarrassed that Lilly (the dog) refused to walk but even more embarrassed when she willingly rode in the stroller. Oh geez!!

Labor Day

Andrew's mom was able to join us for the weekend so we got to do more fun things. We went to the new outlet mall in Cincinnati and spent WAY too much money (not just on Keegan this time either!!). We went bowling for free since it was National Bowling Week and they were trying to set a record for number of bowlers on Sat, Sep 5. Then Sunday we watched the Cincinnati fireworks show--for some reason Cincinnati does not do fireworks on the Fourth of July, just Labor Day. The fireworks were still great to watch no matter when they were let off. :) And on Labor Day Andrew's cousin, Jenny, and her family came to visit us from Columbus. We had a little celebration of Keegan's upcoming birthday since Grandma was here now.

Keegan wasn't sure how to respond to his birthday cake (This is a small one since it's not his official b-day yet. Yes there will still be two more celebrations to come.)

It didn't take Keegan long to get the idea of what to do with his birthday cupcake. When we was finished there wasn't one piece of cake left on his tray. :)

Keegan with his new toy from Grandma. He loves to push it around or be pushed in it.

Visit from Melissa!!

For the past two weeks we were lucky enough to have Andrew's youngest sister, Melissa, visit us before she heads off to paradise--I mean college--at BYU-Hawaii. :) Although I was a bit busy watching the little girl up the street (this is my latest venture...so far so good) we were able to do lots of fun things. Our trip included many walks in the neighborhood or in the park, trips to the grocery store, and visits to the gym. Pretty typical stay-at-home mom stuff. :)

We were able to get out a bit more with Andrew on the weekends . I must admit my favorite part was getting to go to our temple in Louisville for the first time since Keegan was born. We've been to the Jordan River and Palmyra temples but not to our own since our little guy joined our family almost a year ago! :)

After our visit to the Louisville temple we did make a stop at Churchill Downs--we wanted to show Melissa a little bit of a good time at least! :)

We even got a free tour around Churchill Downs since it is the off season currently. (Sadly that does mean we didn't get to see any horses in action)

This is one of the retired horses that we got to visit on our tour. One of the only live horses we got to see on this trip.

I especially enjoyed having Melissa visit because it gave me some company and she was definitely a big help with Keegan and the 6 month old little girl I watch during the day. I hope she didn't feel like too much of a babysitter. :) We'll miss her but not for long because we get to visit her in Hawaii in April!! :) Yea!!
